    Strategies for Galaxy's Edge opening

Keep an eye on what Disneyland is doing for the first three weeks that GE is open. They will be limiting admission to the entire area, they are requiring reservations for admittance and are providing wristbands for those that have the reservations. Reservations are free, but limited. Everyone who has a wristband will be admitted at their particular timeframe, and will have 4 hours to enjoy the new GE area, go on the ride(s) and enjoy purchasing food / beverages / souvenirs .
After your four hours is up, you may be escorted out of the land by stormtroopers. You will certainly be denied service, as in you can't purchase anything in the land after your wristband time has expired.

    Check out the article: https://insidethemagic.net/2019/05/4...eview-details/

By limiting entrance to the GE area itself, they will hold down the line on the rides that are open. So the feared 8 hour lines may not be appearing. If you can't get into the land, you can't get into the line.

Even after the 3 week period, they will be using a virtual queue to limit admittance to the land itself. Kind of like a fastpass system, you can't go into the land until your return time. They aren't yet talking about limiting the amount of time you can be in the area, after the 3 week intro period is over, but it's something to plan for.

With the magic band system at WDW, they can certainly keep track of how long every guest is in the land, and start to deny you service after a certain number of hours, in the same way they deny service to those who are staying in the park after a party time has started, like the MVMCP.

I find this very interesting, as they do intend to make this part of the park fully immersive, and to do that you have to have a reason for the empire to oppress the resistance and the citizenry. Can you imagine a PSA blaring over loudspeakers as you enter the land, in Kylo Ren's voice? Something along the lines of: "Anyone found in Galaxy's Edge more than four hours after they enter the gates will be considered part of the resistance. Anyone suspected as a resistance operative will be dealt with accordingly!"

Or like Walter at Wal-Mart: "Welcome to Wal-Mart, get your s*** and get out!"

I predict Disney will open a Queue for 'the Stormtrooper Extraction Experience'. Everyone with an 'expired' wristband can join the line.

No way. It’ll be an early-morning and/or late-night add-on experience. And the demand will be off the charts.

I don't think they will be doing this at WDW. They would have had to announce it already. If they restrict people from getting in and require reservations, thousands of people that just booked trips will possibly not be able to get them. Requiring a reservation seems like something that would have had to have been in place at the time of the announcement with the opening date. I think it is too late for them to try and implement now at WDW.
A cold and rainy day at WDW is still better than a day at work.

At Disneyland, I understand that Disney Hotel Guests are automatically given a GE reservation. Not sure if they could do this at WDW, given the number of Disney Hotel Guests, but then again, the average stay is I think longer, so they may go that route.

They could easily do a modified version of it. Limit access to the area. As folks come up to the entrances, they can scan their MB or give out wristbands with a return time. That way, there is no line to get in to the area. Then, make sure everyone knows on their return time, that they have 4 hours to experience GE, after which they must leave. Guests of the resorts have EMH daily just for them, and their reservation during regular hours to the area made as they check in.

People trapped in 5hr+ lines at FoP couldn't spend to their potential so I'm sure Disney prioritized a workable solution. Let's hope these 4hr GE windows work.

Not to mention standing in a 5hr line is a crap addition to any experience :D

Our late August trip was planned before the GE announcement. Would love to check it out. First weekend tho...it's going to be tough. Right now I plan to take advantage of early rope drops at MK & AK.

Keeping an eye on this thread and hoping for a little magic or at least some opportunity + preparedness :)

We are going the first week of August so will miss the opening. I'm hoping they may do something for AP holders leading up to the opening like they did for Pandora. This was by reservation date/time. I noticed that they just added more DAH to both AK and MK into August and September but nothing beyond the end of July for HS. Hmmmm??
