    February 2017 ~ Trip Report #2

    Hello all.

This will be my 2nd WDW Trip Report on easywdw. I really enjoyed doing it the first time, so here I go again!

We (Me, Hubby, 12yo daughter, 9yo son, 5 yo daughter) will be heading down to WDW for a week in February.
We are renting a house in the Indian Creek Subdivision. We have never stayed there before. I am excited to have a full pool and a hot tub for our week....all heated, of course.
We were only going to buy 3 or 4 day tickets and just chill the other days, but then the SW offer came out and we have 6 day tickets for the price of 3...yahoo. We have 6 days in the parks now....When I say days, we might make it over for rope drop or not, we will definitely take a 3 hour break in the afternoon and we can stay until closing.

We have planned 2 days for Epcot. 1 so we can see the new Art Festival and 1 during the week.
We have planned 1 day for AK. hoping to see the baby elephant.
We have planned 3 days for MK. our fave and hoping we can just sit and relax and people watch a bit.

We are trying many new-to-us restaurants this time. Biergarten, Teppan Edo, Skipper's Canteen and The Plaza to name a few.
We booked 0 Character meals. I have finally realized that my kids just don't care about seeing them at their meals.

Our magic bands came this weekend....we do a throw away night. We got the new ones and my little one was excited to get purple...wasn't available on our last trip.

I need to start filling in my suitcases.
I will be back to post any other pre-trip updates OR will be back with a day-to-day report later this month.

Oh my gosh, DD feels the same way about Splash Mountain. I thought she'd get over it - I mean, surely an awesomely themed dark ride makes up for come measly drop that's over in an instant? Nope, she cried. I felt like the worst mom in the world! Then we went on BTMRR again and everything was better. :)

She is my first child to ever say yes to trying it ...the 12 and 9 year old have always said nope. I literally had my leg over her legs to close the gap from the lap bar. then both arms around her and my head covering hers. It didn't help that the second we got on the ride, a boat came down and made a HUGE splash over our heads. we were SOAKED from the start of it. her favorite ride of the trip was Test Track. She rode that 4x with her hands up the whole time outside.

    Day 1 and Day 2

    Disney World February 7-14, 2017

Tuesday, February 7th~ Jason stayed home from work. we left our house at 2pm via taxi. great driver….good instrumental tunes playing. We were at our gate by 3:15Pm. We wandered around, bought water, played on the moving walkways and then lined up to be 1st for family boarding. we had Bs…whomp whomp. We sat in rows 15 and 16 on the right side of the plane. The flight was uneventful….the kids are rockstars and we landed 10 minutes early. got our bags and then happily rented from Avis that had no line to pick up our van. We got in and did basics and then into the pool and hot tub for the kids and me. Jason ran to target to get a few essentials. then he jumped in the pool with the kids so I could get some other unpacking done. showers and then bed. It was a great travel day with some fun swimming….it was in the 70s when we landed.

    Wednesday, February 8th
    Epcot day
we woke the kids around 9 and had hopes of being in the park by 10. we were and then one of my children was acting "off" …said they were hungry…so we spent some quality time trying to figure out what was needed…popcorn, water, bathroom trip….we decided the issue was s/he had to go #2 but s/he is not a public pooper so we rode Nemo as a family and came back home so s/he could poop. at home for a quick pit stop and back for our 12:30 Teppan Edo reservation. The girl chef was entertaining and the kids loved their food. then we poked around a bit and walked over to ride the Frozen Ride. it was really a fun ride. then we came home to swim. everyone swam for a few hours and we went back around 5:30 to ride our Test Track with FP that I grabbed while in the Frozen line. it was our first time on there ever and we had fun designing our car. while we were in that line, I grabbed a 5th FP for Soarin. We met Baymax after Test Track. His line was short and I was able to hang out with him for a few minutes. we fist bumped, we played Baymax says…it was fun. then on to soarin. After soarin, I pulled another FP for Test Track…. 6th of the day. We walked around eating and drinking. CRONUT…so hard and NOT as good as last time…boo!, orange crush drink for me…still yum, freezy drinks for kids always a hit. then I rode Test Track with the youngest...no one else wanted to go again. she held her hands up for the entire outside part. she is so brave. she said it is her new favorite ride. we closed the park at 9 and came home for showers and relaxing. all in all it was a great day that ended with great memories and many laughs, hugs and smiles. i love my family and Disney :)

Your morning pit stop might be my favorite trip report story ever. Glad you were able to figure it out for him/her, take care of it, and soldier on.
Looking forward to the rest of your report.

Thanks Goofballs. It definitely was a memorable way to start our trip. Thankfully, that was the only "off" moment of the trip.

    Day 3

    Thursday, February 9th
    Magic Kingdom
it was fantastic to be in THE park today. We got up and got to the park around 9:30am. We took the ferry boat over. I went through bag check and magic band check before the 4 of them. it was impressive. We walked down main street and took some pictures. I stopped in the grassy area and did grass angels. it was heavenly. We walked over and rode Buzz with our FP. then we walked over and did tea cups…they made me spin them super fast without ever stopping. after that we went and checked out the winnie the pooh shop to see what circle plushes they had. my son buys one of the circle plushes on every trip. We now have the full collection. we went on Mine Train. We got off and went to the Little Mermaid Ride. then we went on Haunted Mansion. We went through the regular line, which it has been a LONG time since we did that and the kids enjoyed playing with and seeing all of the creative queue decorations. then, we rode aladdin. after that ride we went on Thunder Mountain. While we were in the line, I grabbed FP for pirates. We got off and went and had lunch at Pecos Bills. burgers for kids…they loved them! they got a drink with a fancy straw. yahoo. after that we went on pirates. we got our butts wet AND a canon shot water at us. how rude. after that we decided to head home for a quick pool break. Oh I grabbed FP for dumbo before we left for after dinner. We came home and swam from 2-3:15 and left for the park at 3:45. we rode the monorail back to the car. we took the ferry boat back when we arrived, we went to have dinner at skippers canteen. it was so yummy and cute. the kids all devoured their food..girls ~ mac n cheese, boy~ steak which he cut all by himself and worked hard. he was the last one eating. dad had a whole fish. jason loved it. after dinner, we rode dumbo…. i love that ride. then we did night time tea cups ride 1….i went super fast AGAIN. after that we went on It’s a small world. Matt ali and I sang loudly and proudly. we tossed some coins in the water and made wishes. then we walked over so Jason could ride splash mountain. he enjoyed it but said it was a tad intense. went on Aladdin for our 2nd ride. i love riding it at night. we went and watched the fireworks and did some shopping. got on the 3rd ferry boat back to the lot. we came home to shower and just chill in jammies. it was a fun day. my feets are tired. oh and i think i left the car on and got out and was like why won’t this darn car lock….well I had the stupid “key” in my hand and the car still on so that was why. I am not used to the no real key thing. technology!

    Day 4

    Friday, February 10th
    Animal Kingdom
We woke up and drove over to AK by 10. We walked around and checked out some animals. We saw the tree lady. We rode Triceratops Spin. after that we walked over to the safari to use our FP. we sat in the back row and saw many animals. we saw lots of hippos, saw a zebra laying on the ground rubbing its back in the dirt, saw a giraffe trotting, saw a lion, some cheetahs and many more. we caught a glimpse of the baby elephant. she was being shy. we saw many bigger elephants and saw a young giraffe. I love that ride and could go on it over and over again. we at lunch at flame tree and I devoured my beans and pork sandwich. the birds were intense and kept on trying to steal our food. after lunch we shopped a bit. then we all went on It’s tough to be a bug. I had never gone to this show before...always had a little that was too scared... we went and Ali was unsure…but it was a really fun show. I enjoyed myself. Matt and I went on Expedition Everest together. it was so fun and I would have gone on again ….to really get to experience it …sometimes the first time is really a blur of excitement/nerves. we wandered a bit and then came home. we did walk down and check out the river of light theater. the show will open up next week and tonight is a soft open...but we didn't really have much interest. we came home and swam for hours. I got tired of swimming and took a power nap on a lounge chair by the pool. I was awoken by a squirrel above my head chirping at me ….he was on the screen roof above me….WTF. weird animal. the kids laughed at me. then we left for disney springs before 6 and had dinner at the earl of sandwich. it was yummy and I got drunk on my margarita. i am a lightweight. jason pressured me into having it. then we bought lots of candy and dessert. . we went to the world of disney store and all picked out a pin to remember the trip. we walked around a bit more and we were home by 9 to swim for a few hours. showered and then enjoyed all of our yummy cookies. everyone is laying in bed chilling. it was a fun day.

a note about our trip....we never went for a rope drop....we rode everything we wanted to and some rides we went on 3x or more...it was a super chill trip. I think having 3 of the park days be free...thanks SW....made me feel like we didn't need to be in the park all day. we enjoyed being at the pool 50% of the time and 50% in the parks. it was a perfect trip!

    Day 5

    Magic Kingdom
Oh boy was MK crowded getting in this morning. We lucked out and they switched from filling the hero lot to the villain lot just as we were making our way in….so we had a short wait AND parked right by the park. so we walked to the ferry from our van. We had to wait for the 2nd ferry to ride across to the park. We walked back to meet Elena right away. Ali was super excited. We also met Cinderella. Then we walked back up to the plaza for lunch. we had loaded fries that were delicious. matt had a burger, Ry had a cheeseburger…they both had pickles on it….ali had a grilled cheese. I ate chicken tenders..they were yummy. The kids had mickeylodeon for dessert….ice cream scoop topped with 2 small cookies and the cone for the hat….looks like mickey mouse with a hat. cookies are the ears. lunch was really good. then we walked over to ride our haunted mansion FP. the ride stopped for a brief moment and we started making coyote noises and such. after haunted mansion I took the little 2 to go potty at the rapunzel potty spot….my fave potties! After the potty stop, we walked back and went on Mine Train. After our ride, we activated our sorcerers game so we could get 5 more packs of cards….all duplicates. then we got on a ferry to head home to swim. We went back to the park around 6 and got there around 7. We rode Buzz. After buzz we joined the incredibles dance party for a few minutes. Then we watched mickey’s philharmonic. After that we walked over to the pinocchio restaurant and had pizza for dinner. it was good. then we walked back over to tomorrowland area. We went on the people mover…it was Ry and Dad’s first ride on it….boy were they impressed. Ry did really like going through space mountain part and seeing the projections of the sky on the the ceiling. it was FUN. after that I said oh you know what will be fun…lets go on carousel of progress….we had never gone on and it was an old ride that I did when I was young….what fun and why not…..omg, I had NO clue it was 20 mins long. I hadn't read anything about the ride since when I was planning my 2009 trip. we survived and so did rover the dog for a VERY long time. We missed the beginning of the fireworks but saw from the villian part to the finale. amazing. then the 4 of us rode tea cups and spun like crazy. there was a service dog in the tea cup next to us. then we went on dumbo. after dumbo we ALL went on barnstormer….ali wasn’t a huge fan. Matt AND Ryanne had their hands up for the ride. after barnstormer, jason teased ali that he was going to soak her in the water play area…she was on his shoulders. then we went to ride It’s a small world. we all made wishes again and had an excellent ride. then we walked over to splash mountain, because dad said you won’t get very wet and alison thought she might like it. well well well…we are not even on the ride for 30 seconds and a HUGE wave hits us from the boat that just went down the hill. great…we are cold and soaked and nervous. she liked the character/show parts. the tiny hills were not so bad. the last hill…she cried after…not full blown tears….but her quiet tears. I had my leg over her legs…my 2 arms in hers….my head over her head and was really like a ball protecting her. the pic from the photos pass is so funny. she and I were soaked and we had to put 3 sweatshirts on her to warm her up. she was totally fine after but gave it 2 thumbs down and said she would never ride it again. then we wanted to end the night on a good note and so we went on aladdin. then we walked back to the front. got on the 2nd full ferry after waiting a bit….tram back to our car. it took us an hour total to get out of there. quick snack for all and a chocolate heart too…then to sleep….around 2am. we didn’t get home until close to 12:30 because park closed at 11. it was a fun night.

We were so shocked to see it on there. It stuck its head out of the opening under the door. It got off and seemed fine. I know my dog would have hated that ride.

I'm nauseated thinking about that dog. Great report! Sorry your daughter didn't enjoy splash. Hopefully the memory will fade and she will try again soon.

I have seen many service dogs while on our many Disney vacations and this is the first time that I have ever seen one on a ride.... which had the kids and I talking about which rides dogs could go on and can't go on. I guess part of me assumed the service dog would wait for the owner to ride, but then realized that the service dog must be with them 100% of the time. It was just so weird for me to see a dog on the tea cups....wonder if many service dogs ride that one.

    Day 6

    Sunday, February 12th
    Epcot
We let the kids sleep in and left here at 11:15am. we parked and walked right back to eat at Biergarten. the food was delicious. the kids all walked beside me at the buffet as I filled their plates up. matt loved the pork snitzel. ryanne enjoyed the meatballs and 3 kinds of potatoes. Ali enjoyed her pretzel bread with salami and some mac and cheese. I enjoyed the potatoes and all of the meats. we tried about 5 different desserts and all were great. we had about 15 mins to kill before the show started…so the 3 started running and playing in the dancing area. they are so good together. after we watched about 10 minutes of the performance…it was fun but the kids were done….jason and ryanne walked over to ride their soarin with fp. i took the little 2 to our ride on test track with fp. I grabbed a ride swap thing for jason to ride with the 2 littles later at night. then we all went on spaceship earth…it was another first. the kids rode together in the front row of our car and jason and i in the back….felt so weird to ride with him and him alone. we held hands. the ride was fun….it wasn’t as bad and boring as I thought it would be. the kids all liked it. after spaceship earth, we went to start on our hunt for the figment artwork throughout the world showcase for the art festival. we had to stop in every country to find a picture with a figment gold frame around it…when we found it we had to place a sticker on the sheet to match the country with the art….once we had it complete, we got to trade it in for a figment magnet. i grabbed a cronut to see if it was just a fluke the other night and it was…but it still wasn’t as heavenly as I remembered…I will not be at home craving them. I ate most but then alison finished it. then we went to canada and found the art. then to the uk and found the art. then to paris and found the art…they were the least excited to talk to us. then we went to morocco and found the art. then we went to japan and found the art. jason got sushi. the kids and i got shaved ice. Ali had rainbow, matt had cherry, ryanne had melon and i had strawberry. we ate them for a very long time….I think they all finally threw them away by mexico. then off to america and found the art. jason got some pork and potatoes and devoured that. then off to germany. the kids went with jason to find the art while I bought caramel treats. mickey rice krispy heads with chocolate and caramel for the kids, bacon chocolate caramel for dad, caramel apple with nuts for all to share, bag of caramel popcorn for all to share and a piece of caramel for all to share. then we walked over to china. then we went to mexico and found the art and then rode 3 cabelleros. it was a hoot. the kids enjoyed it. we had now completed our art challenge. so we went to show it and got our magnet. it is cute. then i went and got a shrimp ceviche snack and it was yummy. then off to ride figment. it was a walk on …of course…. we rode it and then jason matt and ali went to ride test track. ry and i sat and chatted and played pokemon. then when they came back we shopped at mouse gears. we got a Tsum Tsum pin blind bag with 5 pins and matt picked out another stitch plush. i think he owns them all. oh I forgot Ry picked out these beautiful flower dangle earrings from one of the artist kiosks. they are really pretty. after mouse gears we bought a bucket of popcorn and headed home. our dinner was caramel corn, popcorn, rice krispies, applesauce, caramel apple, vitamins and juice box. while I got the food ready, the kids went swimming. it was a great day.

laying on the astroturf at MK, eating from the family salad bowl at 'Ohana.....was easier to eat the last bit directly, rather than trying to scoop it out on to my plate

The end of the report... our last 2 days in FL

    Monday, February 13
swam ALL morning and into the afternoon. had uncrustables for lunch.

    Magic kingdom
We arrive there around 3pm. We stopped in the store to exchange Alison's broken Ariel necklace. Then we walked back to Winnie the Pooh. We rode with fp The ride was uneventful. Then we walked over and rode tea cups. Once with jason with matt spinning. Jason survived his 1st ride on them. Then we went right back on with me spinning crazy with my 3 dancing babies. Then our buzz fp became an anything fp because the ride was down....so matt and I went to ride thunder mountain and dad and the girls went to haunted mansion. I got rider swap so jason and matt could ride again. After they rode we walked over to mine train. Ry and I rode it. First time for us to ride together. She smiled, had her hands up a bit and was happy she got to try it with me and I agreed. It was perfect. Then jason rode with matt. The boys had fun. Then we did one last cray cray spin on tea cups. They all love that ride. After that we walked to the entrance and got 5 more packs of cards for sorcerers. All duplicates. Boo! Then we took the ferry boat over. Jason walked to get the van to put it at the poly. Kids and I walked straight to poly and checked in for reservation at 'ohana. We were seated before jason arrived. We had a table right by the windows. We ate a lot. I loved the salad. The kids ate and ate. Ali just had noodles and bread. Kids had ice cream and brownies for dessert. It was a great meal. While we ate dessert we watched wishes at MK. Then we walked around and did a bit of shopping. Ali got a tsum tsum moana character. Ry got a VHS beauty and the beast notebook. Matt got a stitch postcard. We drove home and the kids swam some more. I went in the hot tub for a bit and then started cleaning and packing. All were asleep by 1am.

    Tuesday, February 14
    Woke the kids around 8:30/8:45.
    Packed
    Cleaned
    Got ready to go
    Out the door at 9:42
    Avis went quickly.
    Southwest check in was fast
Security took awhile and they pulled one of my bags to search again. Grrr
    Then monorail to terminal 121
Kids and I went to get jason a steak burrito from chipotle
Then we wandered....SW had valentines stuff up. We got candy. Made a cookie for jason. Hung up heart Dollies with our names on a wall. It was fun. Then we boarded with family boarding. Newer plane. Better seat designs.
    Kids were content

We arrived home after waiting for a cab for about 10 minutes outside. our 4 checked bags were amongst the first off the plane…that never happens.

    We had Lou’s for dinner.
Everyone just chilled for the night.

It was a fantastic vacation that I hope all remember for a lifetime.
