    December 2015 Trip

    Hello.

I have never done a trip report before but have felt the urge to talk to someone about our trip because we are surprising the kids this time and if I don't talk soon I may explode. I truly am a Chatty Cathy.

    Family~

Jason ~ hubby. He isn't an avid Disney lover but this trip was ALL his idea. He wants the oldest to get there again soon to enjoy the magic and thought December would be amazing. I almost fell over dead when he popped the idea on me. Plus, it was in June so I had already missed my 180 day window.

Cathy ~ me. The planner. I love to read EasyWDW even when I don't have a trip planned. I just can't stop reading Josh's commentary and thoughts. I went to college to teach. I became a stay at home mom when my first was born. I became a homeschooler (shocked me) when I wasn't feeling public school was what it used to be.

    Ry ~ 11 years old.
    MJ ~ 8 years old.
    Ali ~ 4 years old.

We also have a 13 year old rescue, Diesel, and a 1 year old pug, Penelope.

    Trip
Josh's book bought to help me plan...even though it will be our 4th trip.
    We are going in December.
    Off-site location booked.
    1 night at Campsites booked.
    Southwest flights booked.
Tickets purchased. First time without park hoppers.
    MVMCP tickets purchased.
I have made many ADRs, including Crystal Palace and Akershus.

    Reveal
We will tell the kids in November.
My plans for reveal....as of today...may add more...
kids will come into a room with these items waiting for them....
    ~mickey head countdown
~pins for trading with their lanyards
~mickey head wooden ornaments for autographs (woman on etsy is making for me)
~goofy candy ...plan on ordering from Lisa
    ~matching shirts for MVMCP

    I am just so excited.
    Thanks for letting me chat.

I will be back to update as I make more plans, reveal to the kids and give you a day to day of what we did in the parks.

Awh! Congrats! Love your style. We've been at Christmas a couple of times, and following Josh's advice we rocked it! It was awesome (although the first time we went st Christmas, it was the first time I tried to surprise the kids with a get in the car we're going right now trip - they didn't believe me!)

Nice to meet another homeschool mom. Your kids are adorable. I'm not terribly chatty, but I can't can't can't not tell my kids that we are going to Disney.

I have kept it quiet for almost 2 months now and it has been VERY hard. I don't know how parents do these surprise trips more than once.
One huge perk of the surprise, is the littlest one isn't asking daily when we are leaving on our trip. We did a trip to Wisconsin earlier this summer and even with a fun countdown...she asked me at least 20 times a day when we were going.

I have a friend that doesn't tell the kids until they are on their way, the day of the trip. I could never do that. I need time to re-watch Disney movies, talk shows, talk rides, just to talk!

The telling may move up into early October *if* I want their help in making FP+ choices. My big 2 have always refused to ride a majority of the thrill rides. The only one they have been on is Soarin. If #1 says no, #2 just agrees out of sibling respect. So, we have never ridden Splash Mountain and I am thinking that I will convince them this year to try it... It is just like a big slide I am not going to push it though. I think Mine Train, Splash and maybe Tower of Terror will be our newly added on thrill rides.

We go to the doctor at the end of the month and #3 will be measured. I think we will easily make 38 inches, I worry that we are right at the 40 inch mark....so this measurement will also help me start planning rides and if we will need to swap kids or all ride together. Which would be amazing....we have never been able to ride "big" rides as an entire family before, even when there were just 2 kids. #3 is my child that will try anything and has no fear.

Thanks for reading along and all your comments. I will be back to share more soon!

    ADRs

Now I am trying to get these all figured out and firmed up a bit. Help me?!?!?!?

    Our must-eats are:
Crystal Palace ~ have eaten here on every trip
Akershus ~ our favorite princess meal
Minnie Dinner ~ yahoo for trying something new with Santa Goofy

Akershus and Minnie are set and at great times. YAY!!!!

Crystal Palace~ I have reservations on 3 days and I am back and forth on what to do....
~none available on arrival night for a later dinner...still looking every day though...would love one on that first night.
~early-ish lunch (11:35AM) OR later lunch (1PM) on a party day.... do I go for early and then back home...that seems like a lot of work...we have the park ticket to cover it though. do I go for the later lunch and just stay through the night? Would love to find an even later lunch or early dinner, but nothing is available when I pop on.
~lunch late in the trip... totally would work but makes my piglet heart sad to not get there to eat until near the end. like to have it towards beginning of the week.
    THOUGHTS?

    NEW to us this year~
Trail's End Lunch to try the chicken and waffles

I have about 5 more ADRs booked and will chat about them when I get to day to day happenings after I book FP+

Just placed my order with Lisa ~ lisa@theparkshopper.com ~ for part of the surprise items for the kids when we reveal our trip.
I contacted her today and it turned out she was heading to the parks soon after she got the email. So, she bought the candy and treats and is already shipping them off to me. I highly recommend shopping with her. I can't wait to get my package.

I had a "Disigns" person design shirts for us for MVMCP. They are done. Now, I just need to print and transfer to our Michael's t-shirts.

The trip is getting more and more real. Since we decided to tell them before FP+ booking opened up for our trip, we will tell them about the trip at the end of September.

I can't wait to take pictures of everything for the surprise and the reveal and share with you all.

    My order~
1 Family Sized Goofy Candy Co. Sour Cherry Balls
1 Family Sized Goofy Candy Co. Sour Gummi Worms
1 Family Sized Goofy Candy Co. Character Gummies
1 Family Sized Goofy Candy Co. Mickey Fun Pops

3 Minnie’s Bake Shop Character Cookies Assorted Chocolate and Vanilla 2oz.

That sounds super fun! We are doing a Disney cruise Dec 24 to 28 and then parks until Jan 3. I wish I could do a surprise trip but I think I would burst! We did book 2 nights at Port Orleans before the cruise (daughter thinks we are doing a cheapie super 8 night!) so that will be a surprise. Even that is hard for me to keep secret. I will keep checking to see what plans you have!

If you do cp on your mvmcp night, do it when it will least tire you and the kids out. If they are morning people that will nap. And then go late- do the earlier one. If they will sleep in to last longer, do the later one. It is awesome to stay as late as your crew can make it during the party. The party events/shows are really cool and ride lines are really short.

The week of the reveal is HERE!!!!

I am having a hard time holding it together....I have kept this secret since June.

We are telling the kids now to have them help plan our rides for FP+
My youngest is officially 40 inches. We can all ride a ride together for the first time ever.
My big 2 are seeming to want to try "big" rides like Splash this time around.

    I am sooooooooo excited.
I will take photos and post them after the reveal.
Then I have 1 week to figure out FP+ choices and book them.

Thanks to everyone for your lovely comments and advice. I really appreciate it!

Did the BIG reveal earlier today.
I placed a wrapped package in 6 rooms in our house. Each child opened up 2 as we went from room to room.
I told the kids that we had a surprise for them and we were stopping for clues before I announced.
    A. opened the 1st present and it was Christmas stickers.
    M. opened the 2nd present and it was Character cookies. After opening this one, R started to look like she knew what the surprise was, but didn't say anything.
    R. opened the 3rd present and it was 6 autograph ornaments. We will paint these and have characters autograph them.
    4th present was Goofy Candy.
5th present was pins for trading
6th present was Shirts for MVMCP

Ali was happy enough just to get cookies and candy and that was enough for her. She was thrilled to see her name on an Elsa shirt. She didn't care about anything else.
I am not sure Matt knew the final surprise but did announce that all things were about Disney.
Like I said, you could see a smirk and gleam in Ry's eyes after present 2.

We walked in the backroom and they saw the mickey countdown. Then, I pointed them to the ottoman where they saw a note saying we were going to disney.

Ali was oblivious. She just wanted candy.
Matt was thrilled and Ryanne just smiled.

The big reveal went great and now it is time to figure out FP+ for the week.
