    A well-versed(?) Trip Report (2/16-2/22/2015)

(I originally posted this on the MouseOwners site since it was our first DVC trip. I realized later that the rope-dropping, park-closing, trip-planning, commando-touring bunch here -of which I am very much a part- might appreciate it as well, if not, a bit more. Long time DVCers seem to like a more relaxed pace. Anyway, I hope you enjoy my first trip report)

    FORWARD

    Thank you for reading.
    Thanks for your time.
My prose can be long winded,
so, my trip reports will rhyme.
The cast of these tales is my wife,
    and there's me.
    Kids? We do have.
    Their number is three.
    Two mid-teenage sons
    and a daughter who's 8.
    We all rise very early,
    and stay out quite late.
    Most details glossed over,
    but I hit each highlight.
I hope you enjoy our tales.

    Sincerely, 3dadknight

    Part I (or Monday)

    By Town & Country
    they crossed the south
    From the city near
    the Mississippi's mouth.
    Five anxious travelers
    on a nine hour drive
    turned off I-10
    then down seventy five.
    'Twas 8:00 pm
when they pulled in the lot.
    Port Orleans Riverside-
    just a one night stop.
    Check in, drop off,
    to a bus they alit
    It was empty and dark
with plenty of room to sit.

    Their private carriage
    pulled through the gate
They were bound for Magic Kingdom
    and planned to stay late.
Through the bag check and ticket gate
    All five scanned their bands,
Took a pic in front the station
Now time to execute the plan.

    First, City Hall
    and Guest relations
    They brought 5 day tickets
    from a discount organization.
    Upgrade more days
    ... 6,7 or 10?
    NO! APs were in order
    since they'd be returning again.
    The transaction went through
    with nary a hitch.
They were off to ride rides,
all they could 'cept for Stitch.

    They dodged and ducked
    through the Main Street crowd.
The little girl of the group
    thought Wishes was loud.
    The bursts and the booms
    gave light to their path
    through Adventure to Frontier
    and finally to SPLASH!
    Closed for refurbishment
    last time they were there.
It was great to see Bre'r Rabbit,
    Bre'r Fox and Bre'r Bear.
    They cruised through the Jungle
    and Thundered through caverns,
    Then finished a meal
    at Bill's Tall Tale Tavern.

    Along came the Main Street
    Electric Parade,
    Having just left Mardi Gras
They avoided it like the plague.
    No bands or beads
    or shiny dabloons,
    The kids were all bored
    with that repetitive tune.

    A couple more rides
before they called it a night.
They went east cross the Kingdom
    To that mountain of white.
    They rode Buzz then Space
with its turns and its drops,
    Thankfully, out the park,
the bus was waiting at the stop.

    The five slept "cozy"
    in only 3 beds,
    But they knew larger quarters
    were just up ahead.
    They slept very shortly
    while the curtains were drawn.
    The next day ...Rope Drop...
    Animal Kingdom at Dawn.

    Part II (or Tuesday)

    To "Hakuna Matata"
    they awoke in the dark.
    They drove to AK.
    The family's favorite Park!
    Everest, Dinosaur!, then
    Primeval Whirl.
    Autograph book from Chester
and Hester for the little girl.

    They were hungry, but first
    The LION KING called.
They caught the 10 a.m. show.
    Then to Tusker the hauled.
    5 minutes late,
    but seated just the same.
    Mickey, Donald, Daisy, and Goofy
One by one they each came.

    The two teen squires
    had Everest in mind.
    They rode single rider
    to avoid the line.
    The girl, mom and 3dad
    (He had eaten quite hearty)
took a walk and ran into
    the DINOLAND DANCE PARTY!
    After dancing in line,
    the jitterbug and hustle,
    they reunited with the squires.
They all met Dug and Russel.

    Next stop was Boardwalk
    For their first DVC stay.
    Ever again moderates or values?
    (Foreshadowing dessert) No Way Jose.
    Two bedroom ground floor,
    Laguna Pool-side.
Watched the kids from the patio
    Slide down the slide.

    Relaxed and refreshed
    with one or two libations,
    they walked to EPCOT
    for rides and Illuminations.
    The ponchos they wore
kept them dry from the rain.
    Norwegian Club Sandwiches
    helped just the same.

    Though plans for the night
    Included Beaches n Cream
    The squires left the rest.
Friends at MK was their scene.
They missed walk-on at Test Track
    once up from being down.
    Illuminations was great!
    Fireworks in the round.

    Kitchen Sink was the plan
at the end of the night.
    But with 3, not 5,
    they hadn't the appetite.
    Though cold and wet
at the end of the day,
    they still polished off
    the No Way Jose.

    Part III (or Wednesday)

    Studios at Rope Drop,
    no FASTPASSES in hand.
    Front rows, First Limo!
    Backstage with the band.

Tower of Terror for the young,
Star Tours - all walked on.
    Boys ROCKed single rider.
    Girls - Frozen sing along.

    3dad walked alone
    enjoying the day,
    Looking forward to lunch
    at 50's prime time cafe.

    Elbows off the table,
    they all cleaned their plates.
    But they saved enough room
for Peanut Butter and Jelly Shakes.

    After rest at Boardwalk
under the gaze of the clown,
    they headed back to AK
    to close the park down.
    Bug's Life and Everest,
    single rider again.
    Primeval whirl once or twice.
    Then Triceratops Spin.

    No rest for the weary!
    Magic Kingdom was next.
    Late night, non-stop!
    Started with Belle's cool effects.

    Mine Train was fun,
    The family's first time.
    #Incredibles Super Dance Party
where they danced in a line.

    Space, Thunder and Pirates
    after a Cosmic bite,
    the weary needed rest,
so they called it a night.

    Part IV (or Thursday)

    8:30 arrival at
    International Gate.
    Hoofed it to Soarin',
    Had a 5 minute wait.

    "Fountain View- COFFEE!"
    3dad did insist.
    Then kids single-ridered
    the Track the boys missed.
    3dad had a plan
    he had thought through cleverly.
He took the kids to Club Cool...
    where they tried the Beverly.
    Then Community Hall
    was the squires' destination
while mom, dad and little girl
met a princess at each nation.

There were two more to meet
before the end of the day.
    They weren't at EPCOT,
    But rather MK.
    The Frozen girls they'd meet
by the end of the night.
    With Temps in mid 30's,
    Were they FROZEN? Yes, quite.

    But first a little rest
    before the big meet.
To Park Fare for a warm up
    and something to eat.
    Cindy was Cindy,
    And Charming was proud.
Like the fireworks, the girl found
    the step-sisters LOUD.

    First they rode the train
    built by Snow White's pals.
Then, the time came to meet
    the Norwegian gals.

    From Pan, to Small World,
    to the Ghosts moving west.
    Surprise! Churros on Mickey!
    Free stuff is the best.
    More riding and shopping
wore out the girls of this clan.
    The boys stayed late.
They like to do all they can.

    The elder son was summoned
    away by a text,
    But the younger and 3dad
    rode plenty more next.
    Orbiter, laugh floor,
    then to their delight,
    walked on Mine Train
    well past Midnight.

    They hopped on the ferry
    back to the lot.
    It was almost deserted,
    the van easy to spot.
    Back to Boardwalk for
    much needed sleep.
    Though it wouldn't last long.

    Part V (or Friday)

    Plans for this day were
    Relaxed by a lot
    MK and AK,
    No plans for EPCOT.
    But the best laid plans
    change as the be.
    3dad got restless
to see all he could see.

    They missed MK's show
    At opening time,
    But walked in, no wait
    at 5 minutes to nine.
    Coffee at Main Street,
    some Tomorrowland fun.
    Then to Fantasyland,
    the day had just begun.

    Third in line for Gaston,
    he amused the whole bunch.
    Mine train, last time,
    Then the Plaza for lunch.

    Festival of Fantasy
    observed from afar,
    Splash, Tiana and Pirates,
    Then back to the car.

    The guys to AK
    til closing, saw walls.
    While the girls painted ceramics
    at Community Hall.

    When 3dad and squires
    got back to the villa,
    the princess was frowning
with the look of a Gorilla.
    She wanted to go
    back out to a park.
    3dad then knew
Daddy-daughter night was about to start.

    Together they strolled
On the boards by the water.
    Daddy's big hand
    Holding that of his daughter.
    To Epcot they walked
    Hand in hand.
    Scary for 3dad
    For he hadn't a plan.
    He learned very quickly
    There was nothing to fear.
    The best moments in life
    Are not planned- they appear.

    To Mars with his princess
Then with a very short wait,
Designed her car at Test Track,
    Then headed for the gate.
    But Searching for restrooms
    they made a dead stop,
There was no one in line
    at Character spot.

    Before they left out
    the World Showcase,
    they had to stop
    at just one more place.
    "Cronuts!" He cried.
    And just his luck,
He looked right and bought 5
    Cost him 25 bucks.

    11:30 was early
    for this group of 5,
But the week was a whirlwind.
    They had heavy lid eyes.
    Sleep would come soon,
    and would be quite abrupt.
They fell asleep in one room,
    Laying down watching "Up".

Wow, a poetic TR -- have we ever had one of these before or is yours the first? I am very impressed with your rhyming ability, and personally loved the cleverly/Beverly rhyme!

Looking forward to more. How did you end up with free churros? What an awesome photo of the braids!

    Part VI (or Saturday)

    They awoke at dawn,
but in the backs of their minds,
    they knew they had left
    precious little time.
    "Last full day"
    One was heard to declare.
    "Three Parks!" The response.
They had no time to spare.

    Animal Kingdom was first and,
    for Kali, they were stoked.
    Mom and young squire
were the ones who got soaked.
    They Wondered at Flights and
    Discussed the past days
While eating Flame tree they found
    at Kiosks in a maze.

***old pic, but one of my favorites***

    On to the Studios
for some old and some new.
    First time at Walt's dream
    and at Writers' Stop, too.

    Squires once again
    heeded the call and
    rode the super stretch limo.
Don't forget the black Les Paul.
    3dad had missed it
    when the girls went before.
So, he went with his ladies,
to sing "Love is an open door."

    Walking past the Movie Ride,
    The kids looked all around.
Asked 3dad where the HAT was.
"Well, kids, its been torn down."

A quick stop in the villa
to change clothes for the night.
They tried to put out of their minds
That the end was sure in sight.
    They drove to Magic Kingdom
    At about half past four,
    took the Express Monorail,
    Stood clear ... "Por Favor"

    They were getting hungry,
but they first met the Mouse.
Then they walked through the crowds
    To Pinocchio Village Haus.

    Footsore from their journeys,
    by way of Steam Train,
    they again went Splash,
    but no one would complain.
It's the best ride at Disney
for its thrill and its theme.
It would be mom's last ride.
    She wanted the clothes clean.

But the kids wanted to stay
-- one more very late night.
Last time to ride the Kingdom's rides.
Their last night would be done right.
    Finally,tired and dragging
    they could go no more.
They headed past the Main Street crowds
    through the Main Street stores.

    Back at the villa
    they packed their stuff.
    But no one ever said
    "Enough is enough!"
    They knew what came next
    when Sunday arrived-
    Rope drop Studios,
    then a nine hour drive.

Part VII (or Sunday or Last Day or The End)

    Last day of the dream
    for the band of 5.
    One last hoorah before
    returning to their lives.
    Back to Hollywood
    and down Sunset Strip.
    Trolley Car cafe after
    the Aerosmith trip.

    Star Tours again.
Mom was caught in a lie.
    Outed by Darth,
    Mom's the Rebel Spy!
The final ride was upon them
    Toy Story's Midway,
    then some last minute shopping,
and no more time to stay.

    They ate their last Churro,
    and walked half a mile
    directly to their loaded van.
    No tears, just sad smiles.

    One more thought
    before we bid them Adieu,
    They all made a wish
that is sure to come true.
    Though they can't stay forever,
    they will surely be back.
    Every year sounds good,
    unless points do they lack.
    And, each time they journey
it's the time of their lives.
So, you are sure to see again
    these travelers, five.

Thanks. The "cleverly" rhyme I needed a little Internet help with. Anna was so happy to see a girl with two braids instead of one. She posed the pic. As for the Churros, the kids just went to the cart in Frontierland that night to buy them while we were sitting for a minute and came back telling us the CM said they were "on Mickey" -no charge.

Thank you, both. The APs are actually burning a hole in our pockets. We originally got them since we would be returning in early Feb. 2016. Now we have have added an adults only belated anniversary trip in Sept 2015 and a mother-daughter b'day trip starting this coming New Year's Day. We will get our money's worth. I'd like to try to do another report. I hope I don't run out of ways to say that we rode RnR.
