I just read that bus thing from Ann - that's ridiculous. I would definitely tell the bus driver you want to be picked up in front of your house as well and see if that triggers anything with stopping doing that with the other family.

I drove my son to the bus stop about a week ago because it was raining and the stupid bus driver left the bus stop before Max got to the bus - I was so PO'd - what a moron (driver not Max!) - he was like 10 feet behind the bus, kind of jogging to the bus, and there goes the bus around the corner to the next street. I had to start laying on my horn (sure the neighbors loved that at 7:15 AM) to get him to stop so Max could run to the bus. Poor Max turns around and looks at me while the bus is pulling away, with his hands up in the air - like WTF? Even though at 12, thankfully, he doesn't say that yet! But I was! So I guess I did have my own bus rant, didn't I?
Boy I would have been peeo'd too. That is just wrong. Is the bus driver even paying attention to what is going on around them?

My husband doesn't know what his bonus will be each year because like you it is based on company performance. We never count on the money either but it sure is nice to get something but it is annoying seeing the amount of money going to the government.

Brenda your right I think maybe I need Vicki's bus driver picking up at my daughters stop.

Want the real answer? It's not necessarily the government taking 40%, it's the employer purposely taxing bonuses at a higher rate, so that the employee doesn't have any surprises at tax time. It's taxed at a standard 'bonus rate', so that you don't end up owing at tax time because of the bonus. Its basically CYA. When all is said and done its all averaged out (i.e its considered ordinary income, just like your regular wages), so if you're not in a 40% tax bracket, you end up getting it back.

Grrrrrrr...........My mom is so frustrating!!!! She has this bad habit if thinking that whenever things aren't 100% perfect that you must run to a doctor. Seriously.....she swears that they know everything!! You'd think that after taking me to doctors for 6 years before one could finally diagnose what was wrong with me that she would have lost a little faith in them. And then there is a granddaughter who again, had to go to doctors for the first 3 years of her life getting shots because no one could figure out why her little body couldn't absorb iron. Seriously......doctors don't know everything!!!!

Anyway, my sister who lives by me here in VA posted on FB that she fell a couple weeks ago and is still having pain and thinks that she might have broken her tailbone. I along with several of her friends who have broken their tailbones told her that going to a doctor is just a waste of money because they can't do anything for her anyway. Despite all of these people telling Jess the same thing and being the one who took me to the doctor when I broke mine and being told that even taking x-rays was pointless and would just cause more pain.....my mom in all of her glory stays, "you need to have it checked if still that bad after 2 weeks." Really?!?!? She has just said that she is in between insurance because her husband changed jobs and you still want her to waste her money by going to a doctor how won't be able to do a thing anyway!!!!!

OK sorry.....I know that went on and on and on......I just needed to get it out!!!!!!

My turn! When we all had our dental check ups last summer the dentist was worried that one of DS10s adult teeth hadn't come through even though the baby one had been out a while. He duly referred us to an orthodontics practice. Well, we waited the standard 6 months for an appointment and saw a lovely lady who xrayed him and explained that the tooth had twisted and was growing horizontally (as was its corresponding tooth on the other side) and that if left it would destroy the root of the neighbouring tooth .... BUT.... it wasn't really something they could do there . So she referred us to our local hospital which specialises in Plastics and orthodontics. After waiting another month we got an appointment where they took a CT scan and decided it was very urgent as the adjoining roots were already suffering. They scheduled the operation for the Easter Holidays - couldn't be better. And now the I phoned to confirm the appointment to be told that the anaethatist had decided they couldn't perform the operation as they didn't have the specialist equipment for DS Ok I know he has several other medical issues including a heart defect but they are only removing a couple of teeth!!. Now we have to wait again while they decide which hospital they feel we need to be referred to this time - they are even talking of his main treating hospital in London which means we would need to stay overnight.
OK rant over - Now I will get off my I feel better having got it off my chest but just once it would be nice if my over complicated son had a simple problem with a simple remedy!!!

Oh, Ann! So sorry that it's not a simple fix. Hoping the health professionals can get their act together and get your son's teeth problems squared away soon.

Hoping for the best. Hearts and anesthesia can be a tricky combo, depending on whether or not they have to "put him under." At least from what I've seen on television. Hopefully they can get it sorted soon. If not, I'd be happy to perform the operation, based on how I've seen it done on television.

Actually, I think I'll pass on that offer if you don't mind Josh .

Thank you all for your good wishes and I know it is better safe than sorry - I would never forgive myself if he went in and there was a problem - but it just all seems so long winded for a tooth extraction! (ok that smilie isn't quite appropriate but I like it!)

@ Ann, you got me scared here. My son of 16 also needs to have surgery, his central incisor teeth (had to look this up) hasn't fall out yet and the adult ones are growing behind them.
He also needs surgery to remove the ones that hasn't fall out yet and then to move the adult ones in position. Or something like that.
The orthodontist started by giving him braces to help with the procedure.

We have ONE oral-maxillofacial surgeon here that can do the procedure.
But living on a small island you don't have many choices or you have to go abroad and there the insurance won't cover it.

So I am really praying that everything goes well when he finally has to do the surgery.

Hope everything works out well for your son Thadine. I think part of Alex's problem is that the adult teeth haven't broken through the gum at all - they are growing sideways within the gum if that makes sense. Because of this they can't just pull them out as the surgeon needs to find them first - so Alex will need a general anaesthetic. Hope this puts your mind at rest a little. A few years ago one of his baby teeth hadn't fallen out with the adult tooth growing in behind it. The normal dentist told him he had 1 month to wiggle it out and he would look again then. When we went back it was slightly looser and after exchanging a few nods and winks with me (so as not to alert Alex as to what was going on!) he just gave it one good pull. Problem solved without the need for any injections and minimal trauma - apparently the roots of baby teeth are much shallower. It doesn't sound as if your son's tooth is anything like as simple as this to sort but please don't think it will necessarily be as bad as we are currently experiencing either. Our issue isn't the surgeon - the hospital we were originally referred to specialises in this type of procedure - apparently they just don't have the back up services for other issues hence why the anaethetist doesn't want to risk it with Alex (since my original rant I have spoken to a friend who sometimes works in ITU there and she actually agreed that we were probably better off elsewhere just incase the worst happened!) So I am a bit calmer now but still very anxious to hear what happens next!!
    Good Luck

Brandie - don't forget I am in UK so we are working under the NHS! If we had gone privately I would have been seen immediately but we didn't know the problem and thought he would just need minor treatment including braces and I couldn't begin to afford the cost of that (over 3000 or $4500 if he only needed one simple brace but in fact he is likely to need two). The kids are covered by Private Medical Insurance through DH's work but, like most policies here, this excludes dental work like braces. (I won't begin to tell you what I think of dentistry under the NHS as it would take far too long - and turn into another rant!!!)

Rant for the day. There's always something.

When you tell someone you will show up between 8 and 8:30 please show up between 8 and 8:30 or call and let me know your running late. It is now 9:10 and I am still waiting for the painter to get here.

I hate how it seems like UPS/Fedex know whether or not you're waiting intently for something to be delivered. They purposefully don't deliver what you really want until the end of the day and deliver what you don't really care about immediately in the morning. I ordered a new computer (which should increase productivity by 3-4%) and it hasn't come yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, the increase in performance will be mitigated somewhat by the ability to open porn faster

This is a Disney site so I try to keep everything as optimistic as possible. Let's just say productivity would be up 95-96% otherwise.

It's like those bananas just install themselves. I'm sure I've uninstalled them five or six times. Just out of control.
