According to the February Crowd Calendar, we have a crowd estimate of a “7” to indicate above-average overall crowds. For Animal Kingdom, the Crowd Calendar states, “Today is the best day of the week to visit the Animal Kingdom.” For Epcot, it says, “Other than this coming Friday, today will be the busiest day of the week at Epcot and we don’t want any part of that.” Have we hit the nail on the head with this prediction? Let’s have a look at 1pm wait times at both Parks and compare them to other days this week.
All wait times are taken from what’s posted at the attraction between 1:00pm and 1:15pm.
Dinosaur: 10 minutes, FASTPASS Return Time: 1:30pm
Expedition Everest: 40 minutes, FASTPASS Return Time: 2:20pm
It’s Tough To Be A Bug: 5 minutes, FASTPASS Return Time: Not offered
Kali River Rapids: 45 minutes, FASTPASS Return Time: 3:10pm
Kilimanjaro Safaris: 25 minutes, FASTPASS Return Time: 3:00pm
These are outstanding peak wait times for such a crowded time of year and FASTPASS return times are early too. Let’s compare waits to 1pm yesterday, which was a “Not Recommended Day.”
Dinosaur: 20 minutes
Expedition Everest: 75 minutes
It’s Tough to Be A Bug: 15 minutes
Kali River Rapids: 50 minutes
Kilimanjaro Safaris: 90 minutes
Not quite to good, especially at the two headlining attractions – Expedition Everest and Kilimanjaro Safaris. Kali River Rapids is also seeing lengthy standby waits because of the fact that it has been 80 degrees and mostly clear the last few days, which is ideal Kali River Rapids weather. We can expect waits to be even longer tomorrow because of evening Extra Magic Hours that will attract even more Disney resort guests.
Let’s check out today’s waits at Epcot:
Maelstrom: 25 minutes, FASTPASS Return Time: 2:00pm
Mission Space Orange: 20 minutes, FASTPASS Return Time: 1:40pm
Soarin: 110 minutes, FASTPASS Return Time: Sold Out
Spaceship Earth: 10 minutes, FASTPASS Return Time: Not Offered
Sum of All Thrills: 20 minutes, FASTPASS Return Time: Not Offered
Test Track: 90 minutes, FASTPASS Return Time: Sold Out
Pretty rough afternoon waits – plus the fact that FASTPASSes were gone at both of Epcot’s most popular attractions before 1pm.
I’ll compare both Parks with tomorrow’s wait times too, for a more “apples to apples” comparison. Yesterday was President’s Day and it was predicted that crowds would be higher, regardless of which Park you visited. Tomorrow, we’ll have a Recommended day at Epcot and a Not Recommended day at Animal Kingdom with the same overall crowd prediction. Expect waits to shoot back up at Animal Kingdom and modestly drop off at Epcot.
