Just a heads up, The Disney Food Blog is reporting that Via Napoli now offers a “build your own pizza” section on its menu. As you’ll remember from the original review (since updated), Via Napoli did not allow substitutions on its pizzas when it first opened. In other words, you’re picking off your own tomatoes if you don’t want them. Now, you can add any toppings you want to the margherita pizza for “just” $2 per topping. They have also raised prices on many items on the menu. I guess you could blame us bloggers for saying a $36 pizza in Epcot that feeds four people isn’t necessarily such a bad deal, considering the quality of the ingredients and the cost per person is around $9. It appears they’re testing us with the $41+ price point. A family size pepperoni, sausage, and mushroom pizza now runs $47.93 with tax. With four people, that’s still $12 a person, which is less than you would pay at just about any table service restaurant and also less than some quick service entrees. At 2x to 4x more than your local pizza joint, it’s still a tough price point to stomach. I don’t think we need to go into “boycott mode” yet, but I’ll keep an eye on pricing and let you know when it’s online petition time.
