The Orlando Catholic Diocese is hosting a “Youth and Family Day” at the Animal Kingdom on Saturday October 30th. I am not expecting this to have a substantial impact on crowds, but it’s worth noting that there will be groups of Catholics touring the Parks. Just like with the Brazilian tour groups, if you see one, you will probably want to move in the opposite direction. Obviously, large groups increase wait times when they arrive at an attraction and make it difficult to move around them while they move from one attraction to the next. I tried to call to find out how many people would be in attendance, but was unable to get through to a person. If you know how many people are expected or can find out, please post a comment with that information. I don’t think this event will increase crowds so much that you need to change your plans if you already have a dining reservation or have plans to go to the Animal Kingdom on Saturday. It will certainly be less busy than on a day with evening Extra Magic Hours or when the overall crowd level is higher. As usual, you will want to focus on getting Expedition Everest and Kilimanjaro Safari done early in the morning or at the very end of the day. You should be able to get a FASTPASS for both for later in the day. You will also want to get to either the first or last Finding Nemo Show and Festival of the Lion King. Tuesday remains the best day of the week at the Animal Kingdom.
If you would like to head elsewhere, Hollywood Studios will only be moderately crowded. If you are eligible for morning Extra Magic Hour, it will be one that you want to arrive for by 7:30am. Focus on riding Toy Story Mania first and get at least one FASTPASS for later in the day – they will likely be gone before 11am. The other two priorities are Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror. If you can’t get to the Studios in the morning, plan to stay from 5pm to 7pm when crowds will thin after the 3pm Block Party Bash Parade. Also plan to visit the Great Movie Ride after 5pm or from 12pm to 2pm when it will have short waits. Usually we want to avoid the Park with morning Extra Magic Hour, but Hollywood Studios is busier on days with either Fantasmic scheduled at night or when it has evening Extra Magic Hours. If you’re looking for the best day at the Studios, visit when it doesn’t have Fantasmic or Extra Magic Hours.
Epcot will remain busy because of the International Food and Wine Festival and the Magic Kingdom will be busy because of the Main Street Electrical Parade, Wishes, and the extended hours.
