Yesterday I had lamented the long afternoon wait times at Hollywood Studios, especially when I had deemed it the “most recommended Park.” While we never like to see wait times at a recommended Park hit 60+ minutes in the afternoon, there’s really no way around it at the Studios when crowds are this heavy. Just to illustrate my point about what waits look like at Hollywood Studios on a non-recommended day, let’s take a look at the Studios’ wait times today (or last Monday for that matter). All wait times were taken from what’s posted outside the attraction between 1:00pm and 1:15pm. Yesterday’s wait times are in parentheses.
Backlot Tour: 15 minutes (15 minutes)
Great Movie Ride: 35 minutes (20 minutes)
Rock N Roller Coaster: 120 minutes (50 minutes)
Tower of Terror: 100 minutes (30 minutes)
Toy Story Mania: 120 minutes (70 minutes)
As you can see, wait times at the headlining attractions are about twice as long as they were yesterday, if not longer. In order to find tolerable standby waits when crowds are this heavy, you really need to arrive prior to Park opening and run the Toy Story Mania gauntlet with everyone else. That means going straight to Toy Story Mania to ride and/or FASTPASS and then head immediately to Rock N Roller Coaster and then Tower of Terror. For FASTPASSes, you want to focus on Toy Story Mania, then Rock N Roller Coaster, then Tower of Terror because that’s usually the order in which they run out. After you get through those attractions, it’s much easier to enjoy your day.
