Edit: 8pm wait times added at the Studios and 5pm wait times at Epcot added
WDWMagic has posted the full ESPN the Weekend schedule of events here. Expect the Studios to be significantly busier this weekend than it would be without the events. Of the days that comprise ESPN the Weekend, Friday will be the least busy. Today was expressly not recommended thanks to Fantasmic, which would increase crowds substantially, regardless of any special events. Just to illustrate, here are the Studios’ wait times at 5pm today. The numbers in parentheses are the wait times at 5pm yesterday, when Hollywood Studios was highly recommended.
Backlot Tour: Closed (10 minutes)
Great Movie Ride: 20 minutes (10 minutes)
Rock N Roller Coaster: 70 minutes (20 minutes)
Tower of Terror: 30 minutes (10 minutes)
Toy Story Mania: 120 minutes (40 minutes)
Pretty rough, but that’s mostly due to Fantasmic. You might see people ask, “Does Fantasmic really make that much of a difference?” The answer is, “Yes, absolutely.” Even with a low overall crowd level, Hollywood Studios will still be extremely busy when it’s hosting Fantasmic.
Here are the wait times at Hollywood Studios as of 8pm on Thursday:
Backlot Tour: Closed
Great Movie Ride: 15 minutes
Rock N Roller Coaster: 90 minutes
Tower of Terror: 30 minutes
Toy Story Mania: 100 minutes
Let’s compare the Studios’ 5pm wait times (the first numbers listed above) with Epcot’s wait times. These wait times are also taken at 5pm, based on what’s posted outside of the attraction:
Maelstrom: 15 minutes
Mission Space Green Team: 10 minutes
Mission Space Orange Team: 15 minutes
Soarin’: 35 minutes
Spaceship Earth: 5 minutes
Test Track: 30 minutes
Those are pretty good wait times at Both Soarin’ and Test Track. We can expect the wait at Soarin’ to be about 70 minutes tomorrow and Test Track should be around 60 minutes, with even higher peak afternoon waits.
