Disney added Fantasmic to September 2nd and 27th today. These were the only two dates in September that did not previously have Fantasmic scheduled. The addition of the show changes the recommendations around the 2nd and 27th quite a bit. Previously, the Studios was highly recommended on these dates because the shorter hours of operation and lack of Fantasmic would be so much less attractive to casual visitors. Now that the shows are offered, we don’t have the luxury of lower crowds, particularly in the evening after the Parade. If you’ve already made your itinerary with dining reservations and the whole nine years, I don’t think it will be necessary to change your plans. The low overall crowd level and the fact that Fantasmic plays every night helps even out Studios’ crowds. If you are now scheduled to visit Hollywood Studios on a “non-recommended” or “less recommended” day, it’s important that you arrive prior to Park opening and head straight for Toy Story Mania and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. After you get through these two attractions, you really won’t run into any long lines throughout the day, particularly if you FASTPASS Star Tours and Tower of Terror or hit them before 10am. However, you’ll run into problems if you don’t arrive until 11am with everyone else, especially now that crowds will continue to be heavy throughout the afternoon and evening due to the popularity of Fantasmic. If you have a question about how this change affects your specific itinerary, feel free to post a comment or head over to the easyWDW forums.
