Disney added a Main Street Electrical Parade to February 12th at 9pm. We can expect this to make Magic Kingdom slightly busier than it would be otherwise, but it should still clear out around 10pm and the late night evening Extra Magic Hours are still a perfectly viable time to tour. That Saturday, Sunday, and Monday remain not particularly ideal. The following Tuesday and Wednesday (the 14th and 15th) will be substantially less crowded.
Dumbo the Flying Elephant is scheduled to reopen on March 12th again. You may recall I mentioned in an earlier post that the date had moved back to the end of March. Well, it’s back to March 12th. We may see soft openings of Dumbo/Great Goofini by the first week of March (and possibly the end of February, though I don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up).
Liberty Square Riverboat will be closed for refurbishment from April 16th – May 20th.
The Polynesian’s Nanea Volcano Pool slide will be closed for refurbishment through March 16th and possibly through April 1st. The Pool remains open.
As mentioned last month, Disney will be removing the animatronic “Little Red” from the end of Kilimanjaro Safaris at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. It will be replaced with more live animals – namely a watering hole for zebras. The changeover should be completed by Fall 2012 and the attraction will remain open during construction. Disney Parks Blog has more info here.
Finding Nemo the Musical at Disney’s Animal Kingdom will be distributing FASTPASSes from February 15th to 22nd. FASTPASS distribution should be to the left of the entrance to It’s Tough To Be A Bug. In the past, these FASTPASSes have not been tied to the system, meaning you can collect them and then collect FASTPASSes for another attraction immediately after. Also, expect FASTPASSes to be distributed for just the next scheduled show. When you arrive at the show, those with FASTPASSes will be admitted before those who aren’t carrying FASTPASSes.
As reported earlier in the week, the end of “FASTPASS Forgiveness” is true.
Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club Resort is scheduled to close for refurbishment from July 9 through to August 4 2012 according to WDWMAGIC.
Habit Heroes has opened at Epcot’s Innoventions East. I went to get pictures, but got thrown out when I brought in a boombox playing Eric Clapton’s “Cocaine.” I guess that wasn’t the habit they had in mind.
Speaking of Innoventions, it looks like Vision House is back to a May opening (from April).
I visited Universal’s Islands of Adventure last night for a couple of hours. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter does indeed destroy anything Walt Disney World could currently throw at it. From the quality of the attractions to the total level of immersion, it’s unlike anything I had seen before in a theme park. The Hulk Coaster and Dragon Challenge were both excellent as well.
