The Frozen Sing-Along is located in the old American Idol Experience space. Once you get to the end of Hollywood Boulevard, look left and you’ll see it.
Extra Magic Hours: No shows usually scheduled.
Show Length: 30 minutes.
Type: Musical Theater.
Show Schedule: Usually one show on the hour beginning at 10am (11am, 12pm, 1pm, 2pm, etc.) with the last show usually scheduled an hour before Park close.
Similar To: Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage with fewer performers and no puppets.
Requirements: Enough love for your children to sit through it.
Scary Factor: Just your neighbor’s singing voice.
What to Expect:
Guests initially wait either in the standby queue to the right of the theater or the FastPass+ line down to the left.
Closer to showtime, guests will be let through into this holding area with the entrance doors to the theater on the left. A special features video plays on monitors overhead.
Here’s a video of the full show, which is surprisingly enjoyable for kids and adults. The script isn’t unlike a Pixar movie, where adults will enjoy some of the more subtle humor while the kids are dazzled by the characters and effects. The show is done surprisingly well considering it was originally sort of shoe-horned into the Premier Theater space and then moved to what is now called Hyperion Theater in June 2015.
Where to Sit:
Like most theater shows, guests are expected to continue down to the end of the row, which means you want to let about half of a row start heading down before entering the row yourself so you’re positioned closer to the center. As usual, try to sit at least half way back from the stage so you’re far enough away that you don’t need to constantly turn your head to take in all the action.
FastPass+: Yes, moderate Tier 2 priority. The return time is 10 to 25 minutes before showtime or 6:35pm to 6:50pm for a 7pm show. On one hand, FastPass+ for the Sing-Along are extremely limited with no inventory usually available on the day-of, meaning all FastPass+ are usually distributed before the start of a given day. So in that respect, if you want Sing-Along FP+, you need to select it as one of your initial three selections. On the other hand, there is no reserved section for FP+ users. While FP+ users are guaranteed a seat, they’ll still file into the same holding area as standby. Considering most FP+ users will be arriving about 20 minutes before showtime anyway, you could get similar placement by simply arriving five minutes earlier in standby. Most people will prefer to use FP+ at Star Tours and/or Tower of Terror, where you can save 30 to 75+ minutes in line. FP+ here doesn’t save much time and doesn’t offer much of an advantage in seating.
Total Average Experience Time with FastPass+: Assuming you arrive 20 minutes before showtime, about 55 minutes.
4th FastPass+ Availability:
People can and do cancel their FP+ reservations, so you should see some limited availability throughout the day, but all shows are typically booked a few days in advance.
When to Arrive: 20 to 30 minutes before showtime for afternoon shows. You can cut it a little closer for the first and last shows of the day, which are typically less crowded.
When to Go: I prefer arriving a little earlier for an afternoon. The theater is among the most comfortable at Walt Disney World with plentiful air-conditioning and plush seats. Most people will want to take advantage of relatively low waits at the priority attractions earlier in the day.
Commentary: The Frozen Sing-Along is surprisingly enjoyable considering it’s extremely likely that neither of us ever want to hear “Let It Go” again, let alone from the mouths of some rando theme park guests. But the banter between the characters is fun and the effects are executed well. Those looking for a heavy dose of Anna, Elsa, and Olaf may be disappointed though as Elsa only comes out for the final number and Anna appears very briefly early on and then again at the end. Without kids, this probably isn’t a “must do” for most people, but those with any interest in Frozen or those looking for some comfortable air-conditioning should find the show entertaining.
