For the First Time in Forever: Frozen Sing-Along Celebration

July 8, 2020 ~ 4 minutes readLeave a Comment

Frozen Sing-Along at Disney’s Hollywood Studios Review and Planning Info

Frozen Sing-Along opened on: June 17, 2015.

Pull up a list of all Disney’s Hollywood Studios attraction planning reviews here. I will update these reviews throughout the month as things evolve. The main points should remain the same.

Note that this show will not open with Hollywood Studios on July 15th and no reopening date is currently available. Check the attraction page on DisneyWorld.com for updates.

Location: The Frozen Sing-Along is located in the old American Idol Experience space. Talk about a blast from the past. Once you get to the end of Hollywood Boulevard, look left and you’ll see it. The FastPass+ arrow should also point to what ends up being the alternate entrance for those who qualify.

Extra Magic Hours: No.

Show Length: 30 minutes.

Frozen Sing-Along Location

Type: Musical Theater.

Show Schedule: Usually one show on the hour beginning at 10am (11am, 12pm, 1pm, 2pm, etc.) with the last show usually scheduled an hour before Park close.

Similar To: Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage with fewer performers and a lot more ad-lib.

Frozen Sing-Along Elsa Disney's Hollywood Studios

Requirements: Some patience to actually see Elsa, who doesn’t appear on stage singing until the finale.

Scary Factor: Just your neighbor’s singing voice.

What to Expect:

Frozen Sing-Along Wait Disney

Guests initially wait either in the standby queue to the right of the theater or the FastPass+ line down to the left.

Frozen Sing-Along Crowds

Closer to showtime, guests will be let through into this holding area with the entrance doors to the theater on the left. A special features video plays on monitors overhead.

Watch the full show above or as a direct link, here.

Here’s a video of the full show, which is surprisingly enjoyable for both kids and adults. The script isn’t unlike a Pixar movie, where adults will enjoy some of the more subtle humor while the kids are dazzled by the characters and effects. The show is done surprisingly well considering it was originally sort of shoe-horned into the (now bulldozed) Premier Theater space and then moved to what is now called Hyperion Theater in June 2015.

Where to Sit:

For the First Time in Forever Frozen Sing-Along Theater Seating

Like most theater shows, guests are expected to continue down to the end of the row, which means you want to let about half of a row start heading down before entering the row yourself, so you’re positioned closer to the center. As usual, try to sit at least half way back from the stage so you’re far enough away that you don’t need to constantly turn your head to take in all the action.

With physical distancing measures in place, you may want to let about a third or a row enter first.

FastPass+: Yes when it’s available, it’s a moderate Tier 2 priority. The return time is 10 to 25 minutes before showtime, or 6:35pm to 6:50pm for a 7pm show. On one hand, FastPass+ for the Sing-Along are more limited than the other shows with little to no inventory usually available on the day-of. That means Disney usually distributes all FastPass+  before the start of a given day.

In that respect, if you want to guarantee a Sing-Along FastPass+ to a specific show, you need to select it as one of your initial three selections. On the other hand, there is no reserved section for FastPass+ users. While FastPass+ guarantees users a seat, they’ll still file into the same holding area as standby. Considering most FP+ users will be arriving about 20 minutes before showtime anyway, you could get similar placement by simply arriving five minutes earlier in standby. Most people will prefer to use FastPass+ at a ride, where you can save 30 to 100+ minutes in line. FastPass+ here doesn’t save much time and doesn’t offer much of an advantage in seating.

Total Average Experience Time with FastPass+: Assuming you arrive 20 minutes before showtime, about 55 minutes.

4th FastPass+ Availability:

People can and do cancel their FastPass+ reservations, so you should see limited availability throughout the day. Otherwise, Frozen is more likely than the other stage shows to have no availability.

When to Arrive: 20 to 30 minutes before showtime for afternoon shows. You can cut it a little closer for the first and last shows of the day, which are typically less crowded.

When to Go: I prefer arriving a little earlier for an afternoon show. The theater is among the most comfortable at Walt Disney World with plentiful air-conditioning and plush seats. Most people will want to take advantage of relatively low waits at the priority attractions earlier in the day.

Rating: 8/10.

Josh’s Take: The Frozen Sing-Along is surprisingly enjoyable considering it’s extremely likely that neither of us ever want to hear “Let It Go” again, let alone from the mouths of some rando theme park guests. But the banter between the Historians of Arendelle is fun and Disney executes a number of effect well. Those looking for a heavy dose of Anna, Elsa, and Olaf may be disappointed. Elsa only comes out for the final number and Anna appears very briefly early on and then again at the end. Olaf only appears during certain times of the year. Without kids, this probably isn’t a “must do” for most people, but those with any interest in Frozen or those looking for some comfortable air-conditioning should find the show pleasantly entertaining.

Frozen Sing-Along Disney's Hollywood Studios Let It Go

Most people think I’m kidding when I say that I legitimately enjoy For the First Time in Forever. But I’m Serious.

Really.
