The American Adventure Review and Planning Info

The American Adventure opened on: October 1st, 1982.

Pull up a list of all Epcot attraction planning reviews here.

The American Adventure location

Location: The American Adventure show is located inside of the large colonial building in the middle of the United States Pavilion. The lit up door with the three cast members standing around it is the entrance into the foyer. From there, you’ll enter the theater.

Extra Magic Hours: Disney typically schedules shows during the first hour. From a touring efficiency perspective, it would only make sense to take in a show if you’d like to be among just a couple of other people watching.

Show Length: 30 minutes.

The American Adventure Show Schedule

Show Schedule: Shows typically begin every 45 minutes beginning at 11:15am, with shows then following at 12pm, 12:45pm, etc. Blue boards on both sides of the theater entrance state the next show time. In addition, you can pull up exact showtimes at DisneyWorld.com here by changing the date on the calendar on the right.

Type: Animatronic stage show.

Similar to: Carousel of Progress, without the seating section moving.

Requirements: None. While the show fills from the second floor, Disney makes elevators available.

Scary Factor: None.

When to Go: In the afternoon, when waits and temperatures have peaked.

The Voices of Liberty The American Adventure Rotunda

The Voice of Liberty often sing in the center of the rotunda leading up to the show. You might plan on catching The Voices of Liberty before seeing The American Adventure for the full experience.

The American Adventure Audio Animatronics

What to Expect: More than 35 Audio-Animatronic characters from American’s past tell the story of our country’s founding.

In addition, a 72-foot screen behind helps set the stage for the narration, which is brought to you by Mark Twain and Benjamin Franklin.

It’s really a miraculous setup with scenes that change constantly throughout the show. In fact, characters from Theodore Roosevelt, to Thomas Jefferson, to Andrew Carnegie, to John Muir make appearances.

A few moments later, the scene changes and another story is told.

Where to Sit:

The theater is gigantic, which means you’ll likely have your choice of seats. Technically, seats in the middle, about two-thirds up from the screen, provide the best view. I prefer to sit away from the people, where there are fewer distractions. For most shows, hundreds of seats will be empty.

FastPass+: No.

Total Average Experience Time: About 45 minutes, plus however much time you spend looking around and potentially listening to the Voices of Liberty.

When to Arrive: Arriving five to ten minutes before showtime is plenty early. To enjoy a look around the rotunda, or listen to the Voices of Liberty before, arrive earlier. You can always do both after, too.

Rating: 8/10

Josh’s Take: The American Adventure is the quintessential afternoon attraction at Epcot. The theater is large, air-conditioned, comfortable, and you can listen to how great America is for a half hour. Potentially with limited time at Epcot, the entire production is skippable. Most people are looking at spending 30 to 60 minutes here, which can be a lot with a full itinerary. After the show, consider stopping by the Regal Eagle BBQ quick service next door.
