Disney and Pixar Short Film Festival at Epcot

Disney and Pixar Short Film Festival Review and Planning Info

Disney and Pixar Short Film Festival opened on: April 18, 2015.

Pull up a list of all Epcot attraction planning reviews here.

Disney and Pixar Short Film Festival Location

Location: Disney and Pixar Short Film Festival is located in the Imagination Pavilion, up the ramp off to the left.

Extra Magic Hours: Yes, evening.

Show Length: 18 minutes.

Show Schedule: Shows run continuously from 9am to 7pm most days. On days with evening Extra Magic Hours, shows should continue for all guests until 9pm, and then become exclusive to those eligible for Extra Magic Hours when they begin. That’s usually 9pm. You can pull up the specific hours for a given day at DisneyWorld.com here.

Type: 4D film.

Similar to: It’s Tough To Be A Bug, though it’s significantly less scary.

Requirements: Only your ability to sit through a show in a theme park that you could pull up on YouTube on your phone.

Scary Factor:

Disney and Pixar Short Film Festival Warnings

Low.

When to Go: In the late morning or afternoon, after wait times have had an opportunity to peak elsewhere.

What to Expect:

Disney and Pixar Short Film Festival is a collection of three 3D shorts played back to back. Currently, you’ll see Disney’s Get a Horse, followed by Pixar’s Piper and then Pixar’s Feast.

Disney and Pixar Short Film Festival waiting area

There’s a waiting area outside the theater itself with monitors overhead that go over the history of Disney and Pixar animation.

It’s not necessarily worth arriving 15 minutes early to see it in full, but there are worse ways to spend a couple of minutes if you arrive early.

Disney and Pixar Short Film Festival is about what you would expect from the 3D movie-going experience. The theater is relatively comfortable.

Where to Sit: It’s long been my contention that the best seats are those furthest away from the other people, which is typically in the back corner of the theater.

Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival Theater

Like most movies, the “best” seats are probably around the middle of the theater.

FastPass+: Yes, lowest priority. FastPass+ will guarantee you a seat into the next show if it would otherwise fill to capacity, but you’ll likely never need one. There is no reserved FastPass+ seating section.

Total Experience Time with FastPass+: 20 minutes, plus however long you wait to enter the theater.

When to Arrive:

The timer on the right counts down to the start of the next show. It may be hard to tell, but the wait time on the right reads “3 minutes,” which means that’s about how long it will be until you’re let into the theater. Try to time it so there’s only a couple of minutes until showtime.

On the other hand, Mickey Mouse now meets in the show’s lobby. If you arrive earlier than you’d like, you’ll probably have enough time to meet him.

Rating: 8/10

Josh’s Take: Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival is one of Disney’s most comfortable shows, which goes a long way in my book. The theater is comfortable, air-conditioned, and the shorts that Disney has chosen are cute. With limited time at Epcot, you may want to skip the show, as it will take at least 25 minutes of your time. On the other hand, that’s 25 minutes out of the sun with some time to recuperate for what’s next. The 3D elements are fun and the 4D effects are limited to the occasional spritz of water.
