Christmastime Dinner Review

Regular Dinner Review

Food Type: German buffet

Location: Germany Pavilion in the back on the left.

Dining Plan: 1 Table Service

Cost:

  • Lunch (11am – 3:10pm): $32 for adults, $17 for children ages 3- 9
  • Dinner (4pm – Park Close): $41 for adults, $21 for children

Discounts: 20% Tables in Wonderland; 10% Annual Passholder; 10% Disney Vacation Club; 10% Disney Visa.

Menu:

Lunch: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dining/epcot/biergarten-restaurant/menus/lunch

Dinner: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dining/epcot/biergarten-restaurant/menus/dinner

Bar: Because it’s a buffet, Biergarten does not have a bar or offer drinks to go. Try one of several drink carts around Germany for a beer or shot.

Setting: Diners are transported to a traditional Bavarian village for Oktoberfest, complete with liters of beer and an oompah band. The 25-minute oompah show is scheduled throughout the afternoon.

Advantages:

  • Price includes the meal and entertainment.
  • Lunch is a great value – appetizers, entrees, desserts, fountain beverages, and a show for less than some entrees at traditional sit-down restaurants.
  • A liter (33.8 ounes) of Warsteiner Dunkel, Altenmunster Oktoberfest, or Schofferhofer Weizen costs $13.75, which is a great value on great German beers.
  • Plenty of options for picky eaters and the more adventurous alike (roasted chicken, bratwurst, spaetzel, macaroni and cheese, several salads, fruit, pretzel bread etc.).
  • Food is better than most buffets.
  • The German band is fun and kids and adults can enjoy dancing along.

Disadvantages:

  • Picnic-style tables seat eight. Smaller parties will be placed with strangers, which can be a lot of fun or a lot of awkward depending on who it is. With the up-and-down nature of the buffet and the entertainment, interactions usually go off without a hitch.
  • Dinner is a less attractive price point. Sauerbraten (German pot roast) is really the only unique item available for dinner only.
  • There is no specific kid station with the usual chicken nuggets, macaroni and cheese, and corn dog nuggets. Kids should have no trouble finding items they like, such as sausages, rolls, soup, roasted potatoes, rotisserie chicken, pork roast, cake, and more.

Tips: Load up on pretzel bread and beer, two of Biergarten’s specialties. Plan your reservation about 45 minutes before the start of a show. This way, you’ll know you’ll be seated and have time to hit the buffet prior to the show starting.

Value: Great for lunch, okay for dinner. Biergarten features an excellent variety of food and a fun show.  Out of pocket, lunch makes the most sense because the menu is basically the same as dinner. On the Disney Dining Plan, dinner is a better choice. The additional entrées at dinner don’t justify the extra $15 for most people.

Reputation: Biergarten is a must do for a lot of returning Disney guests. Don’t be frightened by what might appear to be “weird” food.  There is something for everyone here and it’s likely you’ll be surprised with what you end up liking. Plus, there’s plenty of delicious pretzel bread and dessert just in case. The potential downside is that you will be seated with others unless you have a party for eight. Overall, Biergarten is recommended  to anyone looking for an entertaining buffet meal with slightly more adventurous food.

Simply the best buffet meal you’d find at WDW. Absolutely recommend it!

Terribly long wait, even with reservations.

    $32 per adult? X 2
    $17 for a 5 year old?
    + tip

Why doesn’t Disney just take ALL your money
    when you check in?

The food is very good and you will leave stuffed. I go as a favor to my husband, so I didn’t plan on liking it last month. Everything was delicious, the band is fun, and the beer is a great price. Enjoy!

This is the best time (other than meeting Mickey) that my 2 year old had our entire trip! He danced the whole time and I barely got him to eat. The food was amazing, better than my husbands Omas!!! But don’t tell her that.
