Starring Rolls Cafe

November 28, 2012 ~ 1 minute read8 Comments

8/26/15 Update: Menu updated.

Location: Starring Rolls Cafe is located at the end of Hollywood Boulevard on the right.  As you make the turn on to Sunset Boulevard toward Tower of Terror, you’ll see it on your left.

Food Type: Sandwiches, Cupcakes, Coffee, Treats, etc.

Dining Plan: One quick service credit for the sandwiches and most of the treats are snack credits.

Menu:

Unique Items: Most items are either unique or better than what’s offered elsewhere.

Advantages:

  • Starring Rolls reliably offers a wide variety of some of Disney’s best cupcakes, cookies, donuts, and other treats along with very good sandwiches.
  • Lines are usually on the short side.
  • Plenty of outdoor seating.

Disadvantages:

  • Closes at 3 or 4pm.
  • It’s a very small inside, which can make it difficult to move around and see what’s available when others are inside.
  • They may run out of favorites towards the end of the day.
  • No indoor seating.

Value: Above average. The cupcakes in particular are large and easily shareable and other treats tend to be higher quality than similar items served elsewhere. the sandwiches are large and a decent value for the money.

Reputation: High. People love their Butterfinger Cupcakes.

An example of one of the Turkey Sandwiches. What makes it special is the aioli spread, the fresh bread, and the amount of turkey. If you’re looking for a cold entree for lunch, you may not want to look much further.

Seating:

Starring Rolls usually has plenty of outdoor seating.

I had a bagel, a bag of Cheetos and a cinnamon roll here for lunch in Feb and it was pretty good.

Split a turkey sandwich and cupcake for a QS meal when we were there. It hit the spot and was delicious! Highly recommended.

Getting a cupcake here is a must-do anytime we go to HS

I agree with everything about your review except the seating. There is no way near enough seating. When we go (mid October and beginning of December) there is never anywhere for us to sit. We usually have to venture off somewhere else to eat. But we always eat here because it’s great.

Question: If they close at 4 pm how could you get something for “Fantasmic! in the evening?” Are those $11.99 Savory and Sweet boxes on the top shelf a Quick Service credit???

    @Nicole T.
Yes, the Savory and Sweet are a Quick Service credit, but they don’t allow a dessert too.
It counts as entrée and dessert combined, so you only get a drink in addition to it.
They are not around in the evening for Fantasmic. Wish they were. Twice in the past (2012) they have had them at a little kiosk or stand on the long walk into Fantasmic theater, but didn’t in Jan and May of 2013 when I looked for them, so don’t know if they will ever have them there again. At the stand it was not a QS credit.
