Best Magic Kingdom Quick Service

Magic Kingdom has several of the most popular quick service locations at Walt Disney World, which makes sense because it’s the most visited of the four major theme parks.  With Be Our Guest Restaurant, it also has two of the best choices – that and Columbia Harbour House.  Let’s take a look at what’s available:

Most Unique Menu

  1. Be Our Guest Restaurant
  2. Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe
  3. Columbia Harbour House
  4. Pinocchio Village Haus
  5. Tortuga Tavern
  6. Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe
  7. Tomorrowland Terrace
  8. Casey’s Corner
  9. Diamond Horseshoe

vegetable quiche be our guest review bog magic kingdom

When it opened in December 2012, Be Our Guest Restaurant transformed Magic Kingdom’s quick service landscape and offered a peek into what’s going to be possible in the future. Loaded with unique entrees like Vegetarian Quiche, Braised Pork, and Quinoa Salads, in addition to Potato Leek and French Onion Soups and an assortment of eclairs and other pastries for dessert, you don’t have to look any further than Be Our Guest for a little something different.

After the menu change, Pecos Bill comes in a surprising second. Burritos and Rice Bowls are surprisingly underrepresented at Walt Disney World quick service outlets. This and La Cantina at Epcot are basically it and you could argue Pecos does it better.

Anchors Aweigh Harbour House

Columbia Harbour house is third, offering unique sandwiches like the Lighthouse Sandwich with Hummus and Slaw, salads like the Broccoli Peppercorn, and other entrees like the Seafood Mac and Cheese and Chicken Pot Pie, in addition to Clam Chowder, Vegetarian Chili, and a Seasonal Cobbler for dessert. Food isn’t as innovative as Be Our Guest, but it remains an excellent choice that’s a lot easier to visit than Be Our Guest Restaurant and its reservation system.

Caprese Flatbread Pinocchio Village Haus

After moving away from Disney’s standard frozen pizza offerings, Pinocchio Village Haus moves up the list to claim one of the top spots. Caprese Flatbreads, Chicken Parmesan Sandwiches, and an Italian Sub Sandwich headline the unique offerings, in addition to Pesto Garlic Bread Knots, Tomato Basil Soup, and Gelato for dessert.

Tortuga Tavern Brisket Sandwich

Tortuga Tavern’s barbecue menu, which debuted in October 2015, is relatively unique with items like the barbecue brisket sandwich on Texas Toast.

Greek Salad Cosmic Rays Review Magic Kingdom

The rest of the options all mostly rely on Disney’s standard mix of quick service entrees with a few unique takes here and there. Cosmic Ray’s arrives ahead of the pack with entrees like this Greek Salad, which you won’t find anywhere else. Mickey’s Chicken Noodle Soup and the somewhat uncommon Chicken and Ribs Combo and Vegetable Sandwich otherwise help elevate its ranking, but this is large burgers, nuggets, hot dogs, and chicken sandwiches.

Polish Sausage Caseys Corner

With just four hot dog entrees, it’s difficult to rationalize putting Casey’s any higher on this particular list, despite some relatively unique toppings. This Polish Sausage with Caramelized Onions and Stone-ground mustard is unique though and it remains a good choice if you enjoy Disney dogs and are looking for toppings like chili and cheese or barbecued pulled pork and coleslaw.

Currently offering just three entrees, Diamond Horseshoe doesn’t offer much variety or uniqueness in its menu, which includes this turkey sandwich, a pulled chicken sandwich, and chef salad.

If you’re interested in something unique, consider the first four choices or look over some of the other menus to find something a little different among the usual suspects.

Most Expensive Meal  on the Disney Dining Plan

The bold number is the most expensive entree and dessert possible along with a fountain beverage. “Dinner” is served after 4pm where applicable.

  1. Be Our Guest Restaurant (Lunch) – $23.59 (Avg. entree: $13.13, Most: $15.99)
  2. Cosmic Ray’s (Dinner) – $23.48 (Avg. entree: $10.27 , Most: $16.19)
  3. Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe – $22.48 (Avg. entree: $12.33, Most: $14.49)
  4. Be Our Guest Restaurant (Breakfast) – $21.99 (Avg. entree: $21.99 , Most: $21.99)
  5. Columbia Harbour House (Dinner) – $21.08  (Avg. entree: $10.44, Most: $13.79)
  6. Columbia Harbour House (Lunch) –  $19.78 (Avg. entree: $10.13, Most: $12.49)
  7. Tomorrowland Terrace – $19.78 (Avg. entree: $10.05, Most: $12.49)
  8. Tortuga Tavern – $19.28 (Avg. entree: $10.98, Most: $11.99)
  9. Pinocchio Village Haus (Dinner) – $18.78  (Avg. entree: $10.01, Most: $11.49)
  10. Cosmic Ray’s (Lunch) – $18.28 (Avg. entree: $9.90, Most: $10.99)
  11. Casey’s Corner – $17.48 (Avg. entree: $9.72, Most: $10.29)
  12. Pinocchio Village Haus (Lunch) – $17.28 (Avg. entree: $9.43, Most: $9.99)

Tuna Nicoise Salad Be Our Guest Restaurant

Be Our Guest Restaurant lunch arrives in first place with its $15.99 Tuna Nicoise Salad – Warm Seared Tuna Steak, chilled Green Beans, Potatoes, Olives, Roasted Bell Peppers, Tomatoes and a Hard Poached Egg. It also sports the highest average entree cost with four other entrees coming in at $12.99 or higher.

Chicken Rib Combo Cosmic Ray's Magic Kingdom

Cosmic Ray’s Chicken and Ribs Combo with Mashed Potatoes and a Seasonal Vegetable is the most expensive quick service meal in any WDW theme park at $16.19 and pushes the popular Tomorrowland stop near the top of the list.

At a fixed price of $21.99 per adult, breakfast at Be Our Guest Restaurant is a solid choice on the Disney Dining Plan. With no less expensive options, you know you’re getting the same value regardless of what everyone orders.

Pecos rises to third place with its $14.49 Beef Fajitas.

Columbia Harbour House Seafood Macaroni Cheese Magic Kingdom

Columbia Harbour House’s $13.79 Seafood Macaroni & Cheese – Lobster and Shrimp served over Macaroni & Cheese is another strong contender after 4pm.

Lobster Roll Disney Columbia Harbour House Magic Kingdom

For lunch, Columbia Harbour House’s most expensive entree is this $12.49 Lobster Roll. Tomorrowland Terrace’s in the next spot is the same item served with homemade chips instead of a bag.

Beef Rice Bowl Tortuga Tavern Magic Kingdom

Tortuga Tavern in Adventureland falls below average with a maxiumu entree cost of $11.99.

Pinocchio Village Haus’ Chicken Parmesan and Chicken Alfredo both come in at $11.49, which is above average, though its other entrees all come in at $10 or less.

Deluxe Chicken Sandwich Cosmic Rays Magic Kingdom

At lunch Cosmic Ray’s most expensive entree is the chicken pictured above without the ribs for $10.99. The second most expensive entree is this $10.79 Deluxe Grilled Chicken Sandwich.

Magic Kingdom Hot Dog Barbecue Coleslaw

The most expensive hot dogs at Casey’s Corner both come in at $10.29. This one is topped with barbecued pork and coleslaw. Your other choice is chili and cheese.

Pinocchio Village Haus Italian Flatbread

With no entrees over $10 at lunch, Pinocchio Village Haus arrives in last place, offering this Italian Flatbread Sub for $9.99, in addition to the Caprese Flatbread pictured above.

Overall, your best bet on the Disney Dining Plan is Be Our Guest Restaurant, whether you’re looking at lunch with the highest average entree price or the fixed price breakfast. Otherwise, Cosmic Ray’s Chicken & Ribs Combo or Pecos Bill’s Steak Fajitas are the most expensive entrees available with most others coming in under $12 each.

Best Value Out of Pocket

  1. Be Our Guest Restaurant
  2. Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe
  3. Columbia Harbour House
  4. Pinocchio Village Haus
  5. Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe
  6. Casey’s Corner
  7. Tortuga Tavern
  8. Tomorrowland Terrace
  9. Diamond Horseshoe

When paying cash, Be Our Guest wins out despite its higher price point. It’s still relatively new, the atmosphere is enchanting, and the menu is innovative and unique. Add the fact that your food will be delivered to you on plates with silverware and you have an experience far more upscale than any of the other quick services. Stick with the $9-$11 sandwiches and you won’t pay much more than a comparable meal elsewhere either.

Pecos Bill flies into second place with its Mexican-inspired fare thanks to the bountiful, complimentary toppings bar that includes items like guacamole, shredded cheese, and roasted corn and larger entree portions.

Columbia Harbour House offers surprisingly consistent, quality entrees, soups, and desserts in a relaxing air-conditioned atmosphere, particularly if you take the time to head upstairs, where you can enjoy a view of Haunted Mansion or Kingdom Crossing. You’ll also find a wider variety of food and at least seemingly healthier choices. If you don’t want to deal with the hassle of securing a reservation then Harbour House is an easy choice in most situations, particularly for dinner.

Village Haus gets the nod over the major quick services in Frontierland and Tomorrowland for a variety of reasons. Food quality is generally higher at lower price points and the menu is more interesting for the most part. You’re not going to find these kinds of flatbread pizzas or chicken parmesans elsewhere in the theme park, versus Pecos and Ray’s which are both almost exclusively Disney standards.

Cosmic Ray’s once served a large variety of food in each of its three “bays,” but these days there are only a handful of options, despite sticking with three different menus depending on which line you choose. Just about everything on the menu can be found elsewhere and the seating area is often hectic with few available tables.

About $10 buys you a hot dog and fries at Casey’s Corner, which isn’t a terrific value when the quality of food is considered. There isn’t much variety to the menu and seating is mostly outdoors without much theming, though a pianist plays in the afternoons most days.

Tortuga Tavern drops after its menu change to barbecue – none of it is particularly outstanding and you’re paying the same or more than comparable entrees elsewhere.

Tomorrowland Terrace used to offer a variety of unique pasta and salad dishes on the rare days that it did operate. Now it’s just your standard Disney burgers, nuggets, and hot dogs. The view from the seating area is good and seating is plentiful, but it’s better for a quick break than a meal.

Offering just three entrees, there isn’t much to say about Diamond Horseshoe in its current form other than most people will want to look elsewhere.

Best Seating

  1. Be Our Guest Restaurant
  2. Columbia Harbour House
  3. Diamond Horseshoe
  4. Pinocchio Village Haus
  5. Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe
  6. Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe
  7. Tortuga Tavern
  8. Tomorrowland Terrace
  9. Casey’s Corner

Be Our Guest West Wing Scary Magic Kingdom

There’s a reason Magic Kingdom’s newest Fantasyland restaurant is so difficult to book. Be Our Guest features three separate dining rooms, including the mysterious West Wing pictured above. The Rose Gallery offers the best lighting and the Ballroom in the center is the largest. All of them are air-conditioned and tables are easy to find. Plus, a cast member will deliver your food to wherever you’re sitting.

Seating Columbia Harbour House Upstairs

Columbia Harbour House is your best bet for a relaxing, air-conditioned meal if you’re willing to head up to the second and much less crowded floor. Snag a window seat to look down at Liberty Square and Haunted Mansion or Kingdom Crossing and Rapunzel. As long as some random blogger isn’t trying to update their seating pictures, you won’t have to deal with hundreds of people meandering about with their smartphones taking the same picture of the rose like you do at Be Our Guest.

Home to what was once a staged dinner show, Diamond Horseshoe provides ample indoor, air-conditioned seating in a fun saloon atmosphere. Head upstairs and you’ll likely be one of only a handful of people, probably all of whom are bloggers.

Seating Pinocchio Village Haus Inside

Pinocchio Village Haus offers a lot of seating options. While the main dining room is on the cramped side, it’s relatively comfortable and well air-conditioned. Tables near the window overlooking it’s a small world enjoy a view of the boats passing by. Outdoor patio seating is available for those that prefer some fresh air. It’s particularly pleasant in the fall and winter when temperatures are cooler.

Head up to the balcony for picturesque views of Fantasyland.

Cosmic Ray’s gets major points for its entertaining show provided by the indomitable Sonny Eclipse and its bright, airy main dining room that’s well air-conditioned. When it’s busy, it can be harder to find a table, but those that head over near Bay 3 shouldn’t have any trouble. Outdoor seating is also available.

The seating situation at Pecos is similar and some people may prefer the darker atmosphere. But the seats are among the least comfortable at Walt Disney World – short, wooden, and without backs. And when it’s busy, cast members will block those that haven’t yet received their food from finding a table. While that makes it easier for those that already have their burgers to find seats, it also means those with families still waiting will have to hang out in the ordering area or outside. It’s also the most likely of the major quick services to be completely full and for whatever reason, always seems dirtier than the others.

Tortuga Tavern Seating Indoor

The final three choices are hurt by a lack of indoor, air-conditioned seating. Tortuga Tavern has a handful of indoor tables, but the majority are outdoors. Tables are spaced out better than Tomorrowland Terrace or Casey’s Corner and the view of Adventureland is (arguably) better, which propels the quick service higher.

The seating area for Tomorrowland Terrace is great when it isn’t serving food, as it often isn’t. There’s few people seated and the view of the waterways around Tomorrowland and Cinderella Castle are picturesque. However, when it is serving food, the all-outdoor-seating-area is often congested, particularly when the weather isn’t cooperating. Eating here won’t kill you, but the lack of air-conditioned seating is unfortunate.

Caseys Corner Magic Kingdom Outdoor Seating

Finally, you’ve got Casey’s Corner, which is almost entirely clumped together outdoor seating with only umbrellas to keep away sun and rain. It’s not a terrible atmosphere in pleasant weather, but the seating area is often full and there isn’t a lot of ambiance to speak of.

Best Food

  1. Be Our Guest Restaurant
  2. Columbia Harbour House
  3. Pinocchio Village Haus
  4. Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe
  5. Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe
  6. Tortuga Tavern
  7. Casey’s Corner
  8. Tomorrowland Terrace
  9. Diamond Horseshoe

This list is similar to the Best Value category. When you disregard pricing, Be Our Guest does even better, providing what is probably the best theme park quick service food on property. Columbia Harbour House is a close second – they execute what they do very well, but they aren’t as innovative as Be Our Guest. Pinocchio Village Haus’s Flatbread Pizzas and pasta dishes are above average. and Pecos Bill executes its burrito and rice bowl fare well. The rest of the quick services largely serve Disney staples with few exceptions.

Overall Best Counter Service at the Magic Kingdom

  1. Be Our Guest Restaurant
  2. Columbia Harbour House
  3. Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe
  4. Pinocchio Village Haus
  5. Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe
  6. Casey’s Corner
  7. Tortuga Tavern
  8. Tomorrowland Terrace
  9. Diamond Horseshoe

And here we are with a list that shouldn’t surprise. Be Our Guest and Columbia Harbour House top most of the categories. Be Our Guest is best for quick service lunch, while Columbia Harbour House is ideal for either meal. Pecos Bill’s status is elevated with its new menu and vast toppings bar, providing good value and sizable portions for the money. Pinocchio Village Haus mixes things up as well and while the menu is more limited than it used to be, what they do serve is very good. Village Haus is a great choice for those that enjoy pizza but don’t want the typical previously-frozen personal pie that most others serve. The Chicken Parmesan Sandwich and pasta dishes are surprisingly good and filling. Cosmic Ray’s comes in fifth, offering a lot of entree options and plentiful seating. The rest of the list is serviceable, but each offers largely the standard Disney menu – perfect for the hot dog and burger crowd, but those looking for something a little different in a unique setting will be disappointed.

Just wanted to thank you for your Best of section. We were at WDW over the MLK weekend and ate at Cosmic Ray’s and Earl of Sandwich based solely on this site’s Best Value Out of Pocket recommendations. Both were good choices (we really loved Earl’s!). Thanks for the time you have devoted to this research and your site!

  2. Heather & family says

Thank you so much for this exhaustive list! It was just what I’ve been looking for. We’re headed to the World in less than two weeks and trying to get our bearings ahead of time. Your breakdowns are fantastic. Kudos!

great article. Always looking for new places to try each visit. I use to love ABC but it has declined so much in the last few years. For several years it was on our must do list. The fish and chips were very good. In 2009 was disappointed, but decided it was just an off day. Tried again in 2010. It was worse than before. Haven’t been back. Based on your review I see it still hasn’t changed. Too bad because the location and seating are excellent.

  4. Priscilla says

I must register that i ate the best pizza ever eaten at Pinochio’s Village Haus. The Caprese Pizza is fabulous!!!! Everybody must try that, and the Chocolate gellato is fabulous too! For me, the best quick service option for your day.

  5. Lew says

Be Our Guest sounds great, especially for lunch. And the words ” refillable drinks” are magic words. I know where to refill drinks at HS, AK, and EP. But could never find one at MK.
