Before delving deeper into Disney’s Hollywood Studios, we’ll take a look at the merchandise available for the release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which officially opens on December 16th of this year.
While the release of a lot of merchandise isn’t particularly surprising – we are decidedly in Exit Through the Gift Shop territory – it is kind of strange seeing so many items featuring characters that the vast majority of us are unfamiliar with.
Darth Vader…Luke Skywalker…Han Solo…Princess Leia…are nowhere to be found.
Which is probably why Disney deemed it necessary to add “A Star Wars Story” to the title.
And Vader is expected to play a role in the new film, even if he does not appear on much merch.
Officially, Rogue One merchandise is available at: World of Disney, Once Upon A Toy, and Star Wars Galactic Outpost at Disney Springs; Emporium and Merchant of Venus in Magic Kingdom Park; Mouse Gear at Epcot; Tatooine Traders, Star Wars Launch Bay, Legends of Hollywood, and Mickey’s of Hollywood in Disney’s Hollywood Studios; and Island Mercantile at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park.
Here is the official word from Disney: https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2016/09/gorogue-with-rogue-one-merchandise-coming-to-disney-parks-on-september-30/, including a couple of pictures of items that have not yet arrived in stores.
If you’re visiting Disney Springs, you might seek out what used to be D-Street and is now Star Wars Galactic Outpost on the West Side. This is basically across from the Starbucks with the Harley Davidson store to the left and House of Blues/Splitsville/Cirque down to the right. World of Disney is also a good choice.
Here’s the rest of it:
We’ll move on to Hollywood Studios.
