Some good news for those of you visiting between December 16th and December 31st – Disney has added the Star Wars Galactic Spectacular at Disney’s Hollywood Studios to those dates.
When Disney announced that the Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM! projection show would replace Galactic Spectacular during the holidays, it seemed a bit surprising given that there is such a strong push for Rogue One – It’s About Star Wars Just In Case You Didn’t Know That.
And with Disney marketing the Star Wars show so heavily, you’d have to imagine there were some number of guests disappointed that they would be seeing Prep & Landing instead of Darth Vader.
But now, guests visiting around Christmas will have the opportunity to see the show, in addition to BAM!
You’ll want to double check the timing of everything here: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/calendars/2016-12-16/. You can either change the day at the end of the link, use the arrows at the top, or click the calendar icon on the top of that page. The times for the Galactic Spectacular specifically are:
- December 16: 10:30pm
- December 17: 9:30pm
- December 18-30: 6:15pm
So for December 18-30, you could actually see Star Wars at 6:15pm, Fantasmic at either 8pm or 9:30pm, and Jingle BAM! at 9pm. Ideally you’d see the second Fantasmic so it’s easier to find spots for BAM.
In addition to that, Disney made some other announcements, including the addition of a Star Wars Guided Tour that begins January 2nd:
- For the ultimate Star Wars fan comes the ultimate tour. An all-new Star Wars Guided Tour is a seven-hour immersion in all current Star Wars experiences at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Character greetings, themed dining, ride experiences, insider’s tours, dessert party and VIP viewing of Star Wars: a Galactic Spectacular are among highlights. Offered Mondays and Saturdays, it’s part of several new Star Wars additions announced in December 2016 for the park, including a new onstage sequence in the daytime experience “Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away.” Star Wars-themed lands are planned for Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort.
The expected cost is $129 per person, which actually seems like a relative bargain assuming you want to do the Dessert Party, which I review favorably here, and go to town on dinner. The Dessert Party is $69/guest and you could easily spend $20 on dinner at Backlot Express. That leaves $40 for a guaranteed spot in Jedi Training for the kids, in addition to priority boarding on Star Tours and at the Kylo Ren/Chewbacca meet and greets. And whatever is otherwise included in the “tour.”
In addition to that, Disney will be adding the Advanced Weapons Research Stormtroopers to the Galaxy Far, Far Away stage show.
Scenes from Rogue One will be added to Galactic Spectacular upon its return on December 16th.
Over at Star Tours, every ride will no longer be stopping at Jakku with that scene now being “randomized” as it was originally. That planet and BB-8 may still appear, but it could also be Hoth and Yoda.
Some new items from Rogue One have also arrived at Star Wars Launch Bay.
Let’s keep counting down the years to Star Wars Land.
