Disney released the February 2017 operating schedule today at the usual link: http://media.disneywebcontent.com/StaticFiles/ParkHours/WDWTravelAgent_february.pdf. Hit “refresh” on your browser if it doesn’t initially load the newest version.
As they have done the last several months, Animal Kingdom hours remain short and no nighttime entertainment is currently scheduled at Hollywood Studios. Both will assuredly be added in the future, but when and how often remains to be seen. Disney did add the Star Wars Fireworks nightly from September 1 to 24, which indicates that they are committed to a nightly fireworks show. You may remember that in April the show was cut to four nights and in May and early June it was cut to three nights before returning to the nightly showings beginning June 17th. I think Disney is taking even more of a “wait and see” approach with Animal Kingdom’s nighttime festivities where they still have not committed to late closing times after September 5th.
Otherwise, the first two weeks in February are your best bet with Value season pricing through the 15th. February 16th to the 20th should see peak level crowds with Presidents Day on the 20th. Heavy crowds should continue through February 25th, before average crowd levels return. Mardi Gras falls on February 28th this year and that week will see elevated crowds as Louisiana is one of Disney World’s strongest markets. Early February is among my favorite times of the year to visit with the cooler weather and relatively low crowds. Those visiting over more crowded times should enjoy longer operating hours and more plentiful nighttime entertainment.
