Disney has modified the Extra Magic Hours schedule over the Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend for a second time. You may remember that last week they swapped the Extra Magic Hours on the 17th and 19th. That means that Epcot will host a morning Extra Magic Hour on Friday April 15th. The Magic Kingdom morning Extra Magic Hour is canceled on that date. On Saturday April 16th, the Epcot morning Extra Magic Hour is canceled and a morning Extra Magic Hour at Magic Kingdom is added.
Epcot will officially no longer be recommended on Friday the 15th. If your plans are set, you can still do just fine if you’re Extra Magic Hours eligible and able to arrive by 7:30am to take advantage of it. Stick with Test Track first, where you may be able to ride standby twice without much of a wait. Then move on to Mission: SPACE and Sum of All Thrills as close to 9am as possible. If you’re not eligible or have no hope of arriving until closer to 9am, then you may want to consider skipping Test Track in standby first thing and move on to your second planned attraction first. Use FastPass+ at Test Track to ride later in the day. Everybody present at 8am will be headed to Test Track, which means longer waits the later it gets in the morning. Single rider should remain viable throughout the morning if you’re willing to split up. Those planning a late arrival shouldn’t be adversely impacted much at all. Afternoon waits will be slightly longer, but it’s far from the end of the world.
If you’re planning on visiting Magic Kingdom on Saturday and are Extra Magic Hours eligible, you can again do very well at the operating attractions in Fantasyland and Tomorrowland if you arrive by 7:30am. If you’re not eligible or plan to arrive closer to 9am, you may want to consider beginning your day in Adventureland or Frontierland. Those attractions are not open during the morning EMH and you are at no disadvantage. Otherwise, waits at most attractions will still be short come 9am with the exception of Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Anna/Elsa, and Peter Pan’s Flight.
A crowd calendar update will follow shortly.
