Disney today confirmed Halloween Party dates for this fall. You may check out the announcement on the Disney Parks Blog here. As has been happening more and more often, Disney declined to comment on ticket prices or when tickets would be available for purchase. I would expect both to be available in about two weeks. The dates are as follows:
- September – 2, 8, 11, 13, 16, 18, 20, 23, 25, 29, 30
- October – 2, 4, 6, 7, 10, 11, 13, 14, 16, 18, 20, 21, 23, 25, 27, 28, 30, 31
This lines up exactly with what we were expecting per the 7pm closures throughout September and October. Note that there is no November 1st date this year. Disney also confirmed that guests over the age of 14 can wear costumes during the event. That’s a departure from recent operating procedure during the day.
Disney has also added a new event at Magic Kingdom dubbed “Disney After Hours” as described here. The event is currently only offered on seven Thursday nights in April and May. It’s reminiscent of the old E-Ticket Nights that Disney used to host, only this one comes at a cost of $149/person. That buys you three extra late night hours at Magic Kingdom with select attractions open and “free” Mickey Ice Cream Bars available throughout the night. Disney was not prepared to release the details of this event, which is why you need to call to reserve tickets rather than use the online ticketing system.
The price seems startling high – much more than the cost of a regular 1-day ticket. A family of four would be dropping $634.74 with tax on just three hours of entertainment. Even if Space Mountain literally has zero people in line, you might be able to ride a maximum of ten times assuming you disembark and walk the queue each time. That’s more than $60 per ride through the dark. Just walking from Big Thunder Mountain to Princess Fairytale Hall to Space Mountain would easily take up 1/6th of your total time. My estimation is that a lot more will be offered to guests that spring for the event, including what is likely a nice take home gift. But $149/head is a lot of faith.
