The December 2011 Crowd Calendar is updated with the addition of Fantasmic to every date that didn’t previously have the show scheduled other than December 8th. We should see another big round of updates between November 18th and 21st and possibly before then. December is the most updated month of the year due to the fact that Disney is extremely conservative in the first release of their operating schedule and generally underestimates December crowds. We should see extended operating hours throughout the month, particularly between December 20th and 30th. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the occasional 8am opening at Magic Kingdom on Saturdays and Sundays, 12am and 1am closes at Magic Kingdom on Saturdays, and 10pm closes on Mondays prior to December 20th either. Just as an example, Magic Kingdom’s final operating hours on the second Saturday of the month last year (December 11 2010) were 8am – 1am. In addition, Animal Kingdom will likely close one hour later than currently scheduled. A second Fantasmic will likely be added to most nights that currently have one, if not every night. Epcot’s hours should stay the same other than December 26th – 31st when we may see 8am openings. That’s why you see the average to slightly above average overall crowd level throughout the first couple of weeks in December. We’re not talking “1’s and 2’s” like we were in 2004. It’s a very exciting (annoying) month!
Updates for January and February 2012 will follow shortly. I’m not sure if they’ll be ready tonight, but they’ll be ready by tomorrow afternoon as long as there isn’t a meltdown of some kind around here.
