Adventurers Outpost Mickey and Minnie Meet Review and Planning Information

Pull up a list of all Animal Kingdom attraction planning reviews here.

Adventurers Outpost Mickey and Minnie Meet opened on: May 15, 2013.

Adventurers Outpost Mickey and Minnie Meet and Greet Location

Location: In Discovery Island near the entrance to Yak & Yeti Restaurant. It’s just past It’s Tough To Be A Bug on the left and Flame Tree Barbecue on the right. Since I took the above picture, Disney painted the building darker tones. The brighter colors in this photo help the building’s location pop.

Extra Magic Hours: No.

Type: Character Greeting.

Similar To: Adventurers Outpost follows the same idea as the Town Square Mickey Meet and Greet at Magic Kingdom.

Requirements: None.

Scary Factor: Low for anyone comfortable with the oversize characters. You may want to show very young children videos of the characters on YouTube to get them accustomed to seeing a five-foot tall Mickey. This YouTube video shows what to expect at the Adventurers Outpost in particular.

Here’s the current paint job, which fits in with the muted color palette of the rest of Discovery Island.

What to Expect: Adventurers Outpost enjoys a mostly indoor, air-conditioned queue.

Animal Kingdom Mickey Minnie Meet Outfits

Mickey and Minnie meet together in their safari gear in front of a fun backdrop. You’ll visit for a minute, take a picture, get an autograph, and be on your way. During the holiday season, they may wear Christmas attire instead.

FastPass+: Yes, it’s a relatively low priority. FastPass+ inventory is more limited than other attractions with higher capacities. Still, it’s more likely that others will cancel their plans to meet Mickey and Minnie throughout the day as guests with younger children change course more often. In addition, the lower wait times may cause people who were planning on using FastPass+ to use standby instead.

Total Average Experience Time with FastPass+: 15 minutes.

4th FastPass+ Availability: Although most or all FastPass+ will be taken on the day of your visit, cancellations are common.

What You Miss Using FastPass+:

You’ll bypass some of the artwork showing Mickey and Minnie’s adventures around the world. For instance, here they are posing with some ancient ruins.

Instead, you’ll wait in a narrow hall away from standby for just a couple of minutes. Most people won’t mind missing the art in exchange for a lower wait.

Expect to Wait:

When to Go: Mickey and Minnie typically begin meeting at regular Park open. Meeting them before 10am, after 5pm, or with FastPass+ is best. Consider using a 4th or 5th FastPass+ to bypass the wait later in the day.

Rating: 10/10

Commentary: Outside of special events, this is the only location where Mickey and Minnie meet together. Relatively short waits, a fun theme, air-conditioned queue, and the ability to use FastPass+ makes this one of the best places to meet the famous mice. Their outfits are precious too, and you’ll save some money by getting a picture with the pair without needing to spend the money at Tusker House.

Not big on character meets, but this is one of the better ones, IMO. Enjoyed visiting them in December, 2018 and then October, 2019. Basically the same experience both times.
