I still have no idea what I’m doing with my camera, but we’ll set out for Magic Kingdom to snap some nighttime photos during Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party anyway. And I’ll include a few that I neglected to include in the Halloween Party overview post.

An eerie Train Station welcomes you to the Halloween Party.

Disney continues work in Storybook Circus. It is a bit odd how just “Circus” and “Souvenirs” are lit up at the moment.

My thinking is that they’re preparing animated lights for “Big Top” and “Storybook,” but we’ll see.

The back of said sign.

It would look a little odd with the other words dark, I think.

Otherwise, I love how Storybook Circus looks at night.

And as I’ve mentioned 40,000.9 times, I wasn’t expecting to because it seems lacking on paper.

Just a second Dumbo.

A re-themed water area.

A re-themed Barnstormer.

But it really is something special and I’m not just saying that because I’m an undercover Disney social media plant.

Tomorrowland approaching the end of the night.

Trees.

Halloween projections on Star Trader.
A few more while we’re in the vicinity:

This last one was taken at 10:05pm, so you can see how low crowds were during the first Party. Admittedly, I was not looking forward to “covering” the Party. The first Party last year was much busier than one might expect, I think because Disney was hosting some sort of “media” slash travel agent conference, which boosted attendance by several thousand people. The first Party this year was virtually empty, despite a certain “media outlet” claiming the Party was sold out earlier in the afternoon.

This would have looked neat with a flash lighting up the flowers.

Unlike last year, the Mickey decorations were fully lit and flickering.

Mickey Emporium decorations.

And Minnie.

A Very Merry.

Not So Scary.

Main Street.

And Train Station.

Do not engage this person.

Popcorn.

A spooky Haunted Mansion.

HalloWishes Main Street crowds.

Enchanted Tiki Room.

Citrus Swirrrrlllllll.

GET THIS CAROUSEL OUT OF THE WAY IT IS BLOCKING MY VIEW OF THE CASTLE!

Nighttime work on the Mine Coaster.

“Literally” zero people riding the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.

Obviously I’m just a walking, talking embarrassment, but I’m pretty sure the most embarrassing I’ve ever done was riding Mat Tea Party “literally” by myself.

At least a few people are riding now.
That’s that. I have several hundred pictures of the All Star Resorts to post, lunch at San Angel Inn, dinner at T-Rex, a lot of quick service locations to consolidate, and I’m guessing an update to the October operating schedule and initial release of April’s hours on Monday.

I love all the pics! I’m so excited to be going to MNSSHP in about two weeks! I’m also looking forward to your T-Rex review since we’ll be going there too.
Nice pics. When can we expect the new Oct park hours?
Never mind just saw the Monday part of your post.
LOVE all the pictures. I have never had any interest in going to WDW during the fall/halloween season (would rather go when it’s cooler) but after seeing these posts I’m starting to think the heat may be worth it.
Nice photos! I love the Halloween lighting
MK is beautiful decorated for Fall. I can’t wait to see it again in about six weeks. Thanks for the awesome pictures, Josh!
the complete sign will read “Big Top Souvies” : )
Love the Haunted Mansion picture and the Enchanted Tiki Room too. They are all gorgeous, you even make Stich appealing sacre bleu. Can’t wait to see you San Angel Inn pictures, it is one of my favorites and the closest to Mexico as I am getting.
Gorgeous photos Josh. The carousel looked stunning
Love the whole circus on the outskirts of town look at night. Watch out for the carnies and the gypsies!
Thank you for the hard work so we can live vicariously through you.
Josh — these are beautiful pictures! It just gets me more excited about our trip.
Such beautiful pictures. You’ll be giving Tom Bricker a competitive streak. And thanks for the Stitch pictures, Josh, you’re such a softy.
josh – you keep us all enthralled – keep up the good work – wish i could get there as much as you – until next time . . . . . . .
What camera/lens are you using for these pictures?
Your costume is so Donnie Darko. Creeeeeepy! I hoped you laughed maniacally on the Tea Cups.
Absolutely fantastic nighttime photos!!
What time and days as this
Thanks y’all. Theresa, I use a Canon 5D Mark III and was using the 24-105mm F4L lens. I have a 40mm F2.8 which may have been faster, but I think the image stabilization on the F4 lens makes up for it on these multiple exposure shots.
“Anonymous,” they’re from Tuesday September 11th, mostly after 8pm during Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Partuy.
Great pics! Looks like hardly anyone was around….cool for picture taking. Tomorrow I’ll be 5 weeks away from going to DLR and its Halloween party – wish I could go to MK’s, too. Some day. Didn’t go to it last year when I had the chance, dang it. I thought the weather last October was nice (I guess it is still pretty hot in September, haven’t done that month yet there – just mid-May, mid-October and mid-November). A future fall break calls to us, once the Seven Dwarfs Mine Coaster is running.
The storybook circus lights aren’t lit yet becausethey are waiting to add the neon beer signs….
Beautiful photos!
Wow!!!
LOVE the first pic of the “erie train station!” I’ve looked at tons of party pics before and these did such a great job of conveying the feeling of the party. Can’t wait to do Not So Scary party when my daughter is older – right now, at 3.5 she would be pretty freaked out. Hoping by next year? We did Very Merry last year and loved it.
Wow, really gorgeous pictures Josh! I really enjoyed seeing them and your videos of the parade and Hallowishes were amazing as well. Thanks so much for all you do!
Your night time pictures look amazing. We will be attending the party in about three weeks, can’t wait. I would have paid money to see you riding the tea cups alone with your cookie monster hat on.
These. Are. AMAZING! Thanks for sharing them! We’ll be at the party on the 28th. I’m even more excited now!
Love these shots! There stunning! I Love mnsshp!
Really like the carousel and tiki room shots. Great stuff!
What?? No pictures of Cindy’s carriage? Im crushed.
It’s not out this year.
For someone who has no idea what he is doing, these are pretty darn find photographs!
I love the pic from the train station looking down Main St., gorgeous. I guess I am now going to break down and go to the Party on the 21st even though it will be way busier I’m sure.
How do you manage to get such good colour shots at night? What can I do with a standard bridge camera?
I rode the teacups at Disneyland also “literally” by myself. I loved it.
Great photos, Josh.
Fantastic photos! This makes me want to go to MNSSHP again. We loved it. Unfortunately with kids in school it’s not going to happen again.
Great post–makes me want to go to MNSSHP someday (we used to go in Sept, but that was long before the parties).
DUDE. These are amazing! Would you perhaps be willing to make one or two of them available in large sizes for desktop wallpaper usage? Like perhaps the Haunted Mansion and/or Sunshine Tree?
Wonderful shots Josh! We’ll be at the party in 2 weeks. Cool thing-my nephew signed us up for some kind of Meet ‘n Greet with him and a character from the parade. He doesn’t know a whole lot about it but sounds pretty cool! Hope they have a photopass photog there to take some pix.
I Love Love Love these pictures!!!
Love all the pics. They are so good. I’m so excited about up coming trip. I can’t wait to let the info out to our kids that we are going a day early so we can go to the MNSSHP on Sept 28!!!! They Are going to flip. Thanks for the great shots and info. Counting down days. 1 week and 5 days left.
Great pictures! Thanks for sharing.
Hey Josh or anyone… do you have to have a regular Magic your Way ticket AND a MNSSHP ticket to enter or can you JUST get the MNSSHP ticket?
The Halloween Party ticket is all you need after 4pm. Prior to that, you would need to use another type of admission.
Wow, those nighttime empty park pictures are totally flashing me back to the trapped-in-the-park nightmares I used to have when I was a kid.
Josh, In case you don’t know you rock. We visited in May and used all your suggestions and had a great time with little to no waits. I tell everyone about your site now!
@ Melanie…. I tell NOONE… The more people that know the more people that will use the same “tricks” to gettting around the park… this is my secret Disney Weapon… And I tell NOONE about it!!
Sorry and Thanks Josh! hehehehehehe
Hey we all have to have all time lows. If your’s happened to be riding the tea cups by yourself at 2:50 a.m. and asking the ride operator to make out with you in said tea cup is yours, so be it.
