2011 Magic Kingdom Halloween Decorations and Merchandise

Do you smell that?  No, not the smell of returned Angus Pizza Burgers!! I thought I told you never to bring that up again!!  Ugh, I can’t take you anywhere!!  I’m talking about the smell of Halloween!!  It’s August after all, which roughly translates to “Halloween” in Disney-speak.  In anticipation of the first Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom in exactly two weeks, Disney decorated Main Street with most of the decorations we’ll see for the Parties last night.  Never fear, your esteemed colleague will be at the first Party to report back on character meet and greets, ride/restaurant availability, show changes, etc.

Let’s have a look at what’s up today.

This is one of two similar set pieces (advertisements?) out in front of security at Magic Kingdom – one on each side so that visitors coming from the monorail and buses will get a clear look.  A nice looking collection of pumpkins, squash, fruit, gourds, and whatnot.

Some tasteful (sparse?) banners added to the Main Street Train Station.

We’ll be seeing a lot of this floral/leaf trim around Main Street.  It’s very “fall” rather than overtly Halloween.

A few pumpkins adorn the Chamber of Commerce.

City Hall is the “most decorated” building on Main Street with all three of Disney’s major Halloween design elements – pumpkins, trim, and banners.  The Ice Cream Parlour is giving them a run for their money this year though.  Hope City Hall doesn’t get bitter and bury them in legal tape.

The Emporium is another well-decorated building with banners and trim.

Main Street Confectionery gets in on the action.

Overall, there aren’t a ton of unique decorations, but it’s a nice little bonus to get you in the “autumn mood.”  Nevermind that it’s August, 95 degrees, and raining, I suppose.

Of course it wouldn’t be Halloween without stuff.

There are two main places to pick up Halloween merchandise/treats during regular theme park hours – the Main Street Confectionery on the right side of Main Street just inside the entrance and the Emporium on the left side of Main Street just inside the entrance.  This is the main spread in the Confectionery.  We’ll get over to the Emporium next.

Pretty basic candy corn – $3.95 for 7 ounces.

These are fun – they’re a “gummi” version of Candy Corn.  Interestingly, they’re made in Spain.  $3.95 for 7 ounces.

Frosted Pretzels – 12 ounces for $6.95

Mickey Sprinkles – $3.95 for 2 ounces.  These are precious because they have little Mickey Ears mixed in with your run-of-the-mill orange/white sprinkles.

A set of five lollipops for $5.95.

These trick-or-treat pails are cute – but a bit spendy at $10.95 a piece.

Here we are over at the Emporium, where you’ll find many of the same candy items.

Those are a bunch of frosted cookies at the top of the second image.

There’s a better look at the back.  The fact that they’re a little different than your basic sugar cookie is nice.  2.2 ounces for $3.95.  Not sure how I feel about a cookie that’s good until next year.  Maybe I can get some on discount in December….probably not.

Of course not everything is overtly edible.  These Frankenstein Mickey Ears are really cute and glow in the dark!!  $16.95.

More hats and headpieces.  Always a popular item come Halloween Party time.  It might be tough to get dad in a full costume, but you might be able to get him in a Buzz Lightyear Hat…if you stop at the Tambu Lounge for a few hours beforehand anyway.

Just a few of the costumes.  Obviously, there’s no shortage of costumes in most Disney World shops.

Just in case the neighbors don’t think you’re nuts (about Disney World) – prove it to them by hanging this flag!  $21.95

Werewolf Mickey seems to be a major theme this year (and the reason we’ll be seeing a lot of his tongue).  These little guys are $11.95.

A shotglass for every occasion.  This set seemed expensive at $24.95 and I don’t think it mentions the year…

This is a beanbag thing.  I’m not sure what it’s purpose is.  Fun, maybe?  It was either $11.95 or $12.95.  You can see some of Duffy’s feet to the right there.  Much to the delight of his three fans, Duffy will be making an appearance in costume at this year’s Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party right at the base of Main Street.

There are a few different totes for the very reasonable price of $3.95.

Granted I don’t get out much, but does anyone actually have a “Halloween Ornament Tree?”  $29.95 for the Tree and $16.95 for the glass ornament.
