Honey I Shrunk the Audience has been replaced by Captain EO, a 3D film starring Michael Jackson.
Opened: November 21, 1994
Location: Future World – Imagination Pavilion
Extra Magic Hours: Evening
FASTPASS: It is set up to accept FASTPASS, but the machines are rarely running.
Type: 3D Show
Similar To: It’s Tough To Be A Bug, Muppet Vision 3-D
Requirements: None
Scary Factor: Medium. Consider avoiding if scared of snakes or mice. Preschool age and young children may be frightened because the show is loud and there are several images intended to appear dangerous and a bit scary.
When To Go: Visit after experiencing the more-popular Future World attractions or while waiting for a FASTPASS to become due. I recommend the late morning, after you’ve raced around to Soarin’, Test Track, and Mission Space.
Expect to Wait: It’s unlikely you’ll need to wait any longer than it takes for the next pre-show to begin. Waits longer than 15 minutes are uncommon.
Length: 10 minute preshow, 20 minute show
What to Expect: Honey, I Shrunk the Audience is a “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids” themed 3D show, complete with loud noises, smoke, explosions, and a giant snake.
Rating: 8/10
Commentary: Honey I Shrunk the Audience is a nice retreat from the hot sun in the middle of the day or when you’re looking to get off your feet for a while. The show is now more than 15 years old and many youngsters won’t be familiar with the characters or theme, but it’s still a neat show and most guests enjoy it. Honey I Shrunk the Audience was popular enough when it first opened that Disney opened similar shows at Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, and Tokyo Disneyland. The show closed in early 2010 to make way for Captain EO, the 3D Michael Jackson film.
