Edit: The correct date for Winnie the Pooh is February 3rd, rather than March 3rd.
The daily analysis for all of August 2012 is now available.
Disney added Fantasmic on April 24th and 25th. This changed the recommendations during that week slightly. You don’t necessarily need to switch your days around if you’ve already made plans and dining reservations. As always, you can conquer Hollywood Studios with little stress if you arrive prior to Park opening and take care of Toy Story Midway Mania and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster first thing. You may also want to prioritize the Toy Story Meet and Greet and/or Phineas and Ferb.
I removed references to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Test Track in the daily analysis where applicable. Test Track is expected to close for refurbishment from April 15 – September 21. The official dates have not been announced. Currently, all we know is “April – September,” but it’s unlikely Disney would close the attraction during the very busy Easter weeks. Interestingly, Epcot is busier during the Food and Wine Festival than it is during Easter Week or most days over the summer, at least in 2011. That’s why the plan is to get it open and operational before the Food and Wine Festival starts at the end of September.
This website was mentioned in this Sunday’s edition of “Practical Traveler”in the New York Times. You can view the article here. In an effort to remain mysteriously sexy, I normally refuse all interviews and podcast requests. But this was done without my knowledge. If nothing else, it gives my mom something to brag about.
Word is that the Dumbo refurbishment/movement will continue through the end of March. You may recall that the original reopening date was February 17th and then March 12th. This has not yet been officially changed, but I am expecting it to be shortly.
Winnie the Pooh and Friends in Epcot will return to the Toy Soldier Shop on February 3rd. They are currently meeting at the International Gateway.
The Aladdin’s Magical Carpets refurbishment is no longer scheduled.
The Honey I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set Adventure refurbishment is no longer scheduled.
House of Innoventions is now expected to reopen as the Vision House in April instead of May.
Basin at Downtown Disney will be closed for refurbishment through mid-March.
The Contemporary Resort’s Pool Slide will be closed for refurbishment through February 17th. Pool remains open.
The Piano Pool at All-Star Music will be closed for refurbishment from February 6 – March 2.
The Meadow Feature Pool Slide will be closed for refurbishment from February 6 – March 2. Pool remains open.
The Grand Floridian’s Pool Slide at the Beach Pool will be closed for refurbishment from February 6 – March 2. Pool remains open.
The Port Orleans’ Resort’s Ol’ Man Island Feature Pool will be closed for refurbishment from February 6 – 8.

Very nice mention in the NY Times!
Question for you… btw, I’m an Orlando local and I often look for you in the parks. I’ve been in your photos before but have never seen you .
Anyway, I just wondered why you don’t have advertising. I don’t know how you can make $ without and you offer such a great resource you should definitely have advertising!
I hope I don’t sound spammy- I’m not offering advertising or anything- just concerned that you should get $ for what you’re doing!
My kids know that if we’re headed to a park, we need to check in and see what you say about which park to visit for the day!
I agree!
Nice! I can say I knew you “when”.
I have a feeling I know why there’s no ads. I’m looking forward to watching this site continue to evolve. Keep giving people a good product. I enjoy your writing. Nice job on the NYT mention.
Good Job Josh! I’m glad your mom has something to brag on ya about.
Can’t get enough of your wittisms.
Amy
There are rumors circulating about the Poly volcano slide closing for a few weeks… Anybody with any info?
Josh, congratulations on the NY Times mention… That’s a big deal.
“states easyWDW.com on its Calendar of Crowds blog post”
Ooooh, “Calendar of Crowds”!!! Sounds like Festival of Lights or Carousel of Progress. Good grief, it’s two words and they can’t get the order right? You should send Higgins Michelle a thank you for the mention.
Haha I know. I wasn’t that excited about it! I’m sure all she did was Google “Super Bowl Disney World Crowds” and up came a post of blogs belong to wdw easy.
Sooo, the pool slides will be closed at all three monorail resorts in February, is that correct? I know I had read the Polynesian and Grand Floridian slides would be closed. If someone over on the Dis puts this all together pandemonium will ensue.
So how much later in March do you think that the new Dumbo is going to open?
Wooo Hooo!!!!!! You are famous! Out site is hitting the big times!
Oops. “our” not “out” although I guess it could be an out site. ;o
@ goodfery LOL
I noticed on wdwmagic that there is a new park map for Magic Kingdom that lists the new Dumbo and Casey Jr water play area…and the Fantasyland train station, all part of the Storybook Circus addition to Fantasyland….and next to an asterisk on the right lower section it says something like “Opening February 2012″ – so are they shooting for opening the first part of Storybook Circus by late February? I would think that if it were opening in March they wouldn’t have put February on the new maps. Maybe you can get your hands on a new map (or look at the news link on wdwmagic’s site) and give us your thoughts. It doesn’t affect me…I’m most likely not going back to WDW until early 2014, but for anyone going in the early part of this year some of it might seem important.
Congrats on the write up!…but what happened to Sea World…I mean Seaworld…thought we were getting it today?? ha!
@RebeccaMcK: The map that has been floating around is not an actual in park map, but one that is included with the vacation planning packages that are sent out. It’s likely that map was printed long before the date changed to March.
