Bay Lake Tower review
We own at Bay Lake Tower and this review is from our first trip home in October of 2009. We'll be going back at the end of his year.
My husband and I were on this trip.
We drove our car from Texas and parking was not an issue when we arrived. Check-in is at the regular Contemporary check-in desk. We did not do online check-in that time but check-in was very easy.
We had a fantastic room! We stayed in a Lake View studio, room 8106, which is on the outside of the C in the North Tower. We had a view of the Magic Kingdom when standing out on the balcony and watched the fireworks each night we were in the room. The music for the fireworks is played over the television but you do have to crank it a bit loud.
We spent a couple of evenings up on the Top of the World Lounge. It was pretty much empty both evenings we went up for drinks.
One of the best parts of BLT is the location and transportation.
1) Walking to the gates of the Magic Kingdom would take us all of 5 to 10 minutes if we were slow moving. The best part of the walk for me was meeting the other families walking to the park in the morning and chatting with the very excited kids.
During the after hours parties or late emh, this ability to walk 5 or 10 minutes back to the room was heavenly.
2) We ate mostly at the monorail resort restaurants and Epcot when we weren't in a park. That was fantastic with just being able to hop on the monorail and have the selection available to us between the Grand Floridian, Polynesian, Contemporary and Epcot. It was especially nice for Victoria and Albert's since we had the wine flight and getting home was just a monorail ride away, if you get my drift.
3) We rode the monorail to Epcot and where you do have to change at TTC, it was still never a long trip and we hardly ever waited more than 10 minutes for the next one.
4) When we did ride a bus to AK or HS, upon leaving we had two choices instead of just one. If the Magic Kingdom bus came before the Contemporary, we would just hop on that one as it was just a short walk from there back to the room. We did the same thing for riding to AK for our meal at Sanaa in that we just rode the Magic Kingdom bus back and forth.
A studio works very well for the two of us. When we went they had the bathroom sink in the kitchen and that was a bit odd but easy to get used to. Since that trip they have been remodeling the rooms to move the bathroom sink into the shower/toilet area. We'll have to see on our next trip if that seems better or what to us.
Being in the North tower means you can see the Magic Kingdom from your room but it also means you have a long walk to the elevators and getting to the Contemporary. There are definitely advantages/disadvantages to all the locations in the the Tower.
The pool was nice and the slide was decently fun. We don't do a ton of swimming at Disney since I'm a big lap swimmer. Just floating around in a pool makes me itch to do laps so I'm not a good reviewer of Disney pools. But the pool was never very crowded.
Due to the distance from our room in the north tower and the Contemporary, we did not get a refillable mug as it was just too far to go to get a refill for the size of the mugs. For us, it made more sense to bring sodas and drinks to keep in our fridge in the room. The distance to getting into the Contemporary could be an annoyance. I think it was equal distance to go to the Magic Kingdom! Okay, maybe not in reality but it sure felt like it.
To sum up, we love Bay Lake Towers. Even though we are usually not traveling with kids (my nieces and nephews when they come) there are tons of things for adults to love and enjoy about BLT.

Thanks for the review RonnieRoo, we are owners at BLT and our first stay will be in June. Our countdown is in double digits so we are very exicited! I absolutely love reading anything and everything about someone's stay at BLT so I very much enjoyed your post!
