Upgrading the Dining Plan
Question from my mom who has a trip booked with free dining.
What is the latest you can upgrade from Quick Service to Regular Dining?

Hmm, someone a little smarter will come along I am sure, but I know that we upgraded ours three days before our trip, but we were staying on points

You can upgrade at almost any point but if the deal has ended Guest services often has to get involved to change the package Usually once you are within 5 days no changes can be made. Also, after the 45 day mark Disney MAY charge a $15 fee for reprinting documents...this is NOT consistent so you never know! Also for future reference, if packages changes are made within 45 days and the price goes DOWN, Disney charges $50 :)

Thanks. I have never done the dining plan or booked a package so am clueless in those regards.
Do you happen to have something showing the official rules for getting free dining? She booked with 7 day tickets and I told her she only needed 2 Day minimum, but I can't find anything official showing that. Thanks.

I couldn't find the official rules but I was just able to test book a value resort 3 night/4 day with 2 day park tickets from Dec 12-15 with the free dining. It's a 3 night minimum stay and minimum 2 day park tickets for each guest in the room according to many trusted sites which
matches the test booking.

Yup that's the rule :) We posted in our site and it came directly from Disney :)

hi Amanda,
But it is strange... I couldn't find it on the Disney site either... They tend to make you think that a 6 night 7 day is required "Get a FREE dining plan when you purchase a non-discounted 6-night/7-day Magic Your Way room and ticket package" but then there's small print "Be sure to check for packages for other lengths of stay!" but no clear minimums that I could find on their own site. I thought it was much clearer on Disney in the past.

I thought it was too. Even the notice that TA's get didn't specify but we always call when a new deal comes out and get all the specifics so we know. I've had many clients think they had to book the package just as Disney advertises it.

Thanks for the help. My mom trusts mousesavers. I found the wording on their site and sent it to her.
And yes, I found Disney's website confusing as well.

The official rule is that the package must be added on at least 3 days prior to arrival. I always tell my clients 7 days just to make sure they don't forget!!! And, the $50 change fee is only applied on changes made after the 45 day window if those changes decrease the over all cost. If they increase....then you won't be charged. Although.....I have heard rumor of a new $15 charge for changes made within 14 days but have yet to see it actually applied.
