    Photopass +

Okay I am all booked now. We won't discuss just how many days it is until my trip. That is both irrelevent and sad. LOL Anyway time to get back to planning, looking to see what has changed since our last trip August 2010 and figuring out exactly what we want to do.

One of the things I want to check into is photopass +. We have had photopass for our last 2 trips. We usually go with extended family and have split the cost of photpass on previous trips. I think that isn't possible by reading about plus. Only 1 card which provides access to ride picture captures? That won't work, because we will not all be together. The character dining part wouldn't be a problem, because we will be togethr for most meals. I read something about being able to take a picture of the card and scanning the picture at rides, but that sounds pretty complicated. Some of my family aren't that savy. LOL I see they would have no trouble getting a regular photopass card and having those pictures added to the account, so that is a plus. Anyway guess I am asking for opinions on what I should do.

Yay for at least booking. At least it's in 2013 so that's not TOO far off. You were able to get it booked anyway.

You can share the photopass part very easily, just as you always did. You can add as many photopass cards as you'd like to your photopass account.

What's difficult (but not impossible) to share is the + part. That's what you only have 1 card for. There are ways around it if you're willing to take the time to do it. Basically, the ride photos are in the system for 2 days. You can bring the + card to I think any photopass location (I may be wrong about the "any location" part of it; you may have to go to the attraction itself within 2 days) and give them the photo number along with the attraction and they can add the picture to your card. As long as they give you the number, you should be able to get it added after the fact.

    From the PhotoPass+ folks:
    Q. My family may split up and go on two different Attractions however only one Disney PhotoPass+ card is provided, what can I do?

    R. If your family splits up and goes on different Attractions you may save your Ride Stub with the photo # and later on stop by the Attraction to claim the photo with your Disney PhotoPass+ card. Keep in mind that photos are available in our system for only 48 hours after capture; make sure you visit the Attraction to claim your photo within that time period.

I saw the same post where someone said that a photopass photographer told her to take a photo of the photopass card and use that at the scanner. Sounds good to me. Now let's set up some shares! ;)

Thanks so much Trudy. I think we might just go for it and see how it goes. I will try the picture thing, although that sounds a little complicated to me. We would have to find the picture among all the ones we take everytime we want to scan it. Might work better to just go back to the attraction. Triciari, I am thinking shares, other than among families, are going to be difficult if not impossible with the plus. Because you would have to meet up with your group to get a picture of the + card. Unless I am misunderstanding something.

Plus, I'm thinking they might let you get away with a picture of the + card for rides, but maybe not for dining photo packages. Otherwise people could post it on facebook and let hundreds of their closest friends and family use it to get the printed photos.

Very good point. Luckily, we will be having most of our meals together, and the ones we won't ahve together will likely be non character ones. Not sure someone in a share would want to book all their meals as a group. LOL

This is really good information. You can send someone over with the Photopass+ card later on to each of the rides to get all of the pictures.....it would be like sending a FPV kind of a thing.

It is obvious with this that Disney really is watching out on the whole "shares" thing making it very difficult for people who are not traveling together to share a photopass with this new option. I personally can see it being fun to get when we go with larger groups but when we don't......I know that I will not be able to justify the cost. I do wish however that they had an option that allowed you to get 2 cards because families do often split up into 2 groups and that would really make things so much easier!!!!

I was thinking the same thing Brenda. I wouldn't even mind paying a little for an extra card or two. I think we will get it. I don't even mind paying for it, but that means I get to have possession of the card then. Hmm, maybe I don't want it. That means I get to be the photopass volunteer. Lmbo

Our group is getting it and I'm going to be the photopass volunteer. It would be great if I can go to any photopass location to have the rides added, but I'm not banking on it.

I think the only day it would be a problem is on our free day friday where we will be all over the place, but I'm okay with that because it shouldn't be anyone's first ride on the rides, so not as important to have the pics.

I'm definitely in the torn crowd for just a single family. For me it's $70 to upgrade the prepurchase since I prepurchased the regular CD before the price went up from $99 to $119. Some trips we do several meals with pictures making the + worthwhile but this time we're only doing one. Then I look at how many of the rides with photos we'll be doing and there's only Splash, EE and Buzz. We'll be doing Splaash and EE only once each for sure so that would be $30 if we want the pictures. Buzz we'll take up 3 ride cars and we might ride a couple times and that one makes it closer to break even especially if we buy the photo at HDDR. In February they let us buy 2 photos at Buzz for a reduced price (I think it was around $21) so 3 pictures wouldn't be $45 but it still adds up. But, it's only worthwhile if we buy every single picture everywhere. I really don't know if we would. I'm thinking that for this trip it's just not worth it, but it is close. If we hadn't bought at $99 I'd probably go ahead and upgrade.

Trudy, Do you actually get the pictures or just get them added to the card? I thought they just added them to the card like Test Track has always been able to do. If you get the actual picture are they also added to your cd? I need to study up more on this. We have always gotten more than our money's worth out of the regular Photopass.

Yup, you just get them added to the card, no physical pictures. When we were there in February they had added the ability to buy just the digital image without prints for $15. To get the 2 images at Buzz we did have to buy the prints which gave us the prints and digital image for less than buying 2 images which made no sense what-so-ever but it's what happened. On physical prints there is a number along the side of the picture as well as on your receipt and you add that to your photopass account to get the image added to your account. When you buy just the digital image they add it to a card and you just add the card to your account. With the + they'll add them all to the same + card I would assume and you just add that + card to your accoutn. When purchasing the images separate from the + you get a copyright statement and the download right away with the digital image purchase and it also gets added to your photopass card. Getting it downloaded right away is different than with the typical photopass pictures but with the + I wonder if that won't happen?
