    Free dining question

If free dining is available for 9/30 thru 10/4. Will I recieve free dining for the entire period if plan for either 9/26 thru 9/30 or 10/4 thru 10/9?

Your check in date needs to fall between those dates. So, if you check in on 9/26, you would not be able to get FD. If you check in on 10/4, you will get it for your entire stay.

All you have to do is check in during the period that's offered and you will receive free dining for the entire stay.
So if you stay 9/26-9/30, you would not get it at all; if you stay 10/4-10/9 you would get free dining for the entire time.

What if you are staying 11/5-11/14 and free dining is 11/9-11/15? Can I check in on the 5th and "recheck" in on the 9th to the same hotel, different room or different hotel? Say LM for first few days then POP for the week?

But you'd have to buy new park tickets for your new stay, thus negating any savings from free dining. I believe you can pick up package tickets 3 days early so you could check in on 11/6 with a room only, but pick up your park tickets. Then recheck in on the 11/9. Your dining credits would only be able to be used from 11/9 to your checkout day, not before then. You also might have to physically leave your first room and switch to another because there is no guarantee you would have the same room for the second part of your stay.

fizboBunny hit right on the issues with this. You really need to do the pricing to see if the savings is going to be worth the hassle, etc. And.....the tickets can be an issue. I had a CM try to tell me that Disney is not allowing the 3 day pick up any more (of course....she said this started a year ago but I know people who have gotten their tickets early this year....so I know she was wrong about that) but......it is a risk since we know that Disney can and has been making changes to policies without any warning.

If you were arriving one day before the special starts then I'd say go for it but with it being the 4th day.....I would really think hard and look at the numbers to see if getting the free dining will really work for you or not.

    So confused

So here I thought we were all set, staying at Shades of Green from Oct 5th until Oct 14th. Tonight the Hubby says, do you know they are redoing the pools at Shades? I'm thinking so what, but he likes to get up in the morning and go for a swim while I'm being lazy so it's a BIG deal. Anyway, he is looking at moving us to POR and then he says if we get there on the 4th, we'll get Free Dining. Well here's where I am confused, My daughter and her friend are going to come down for the first 4 days, 5th-8th, we were going to get their tickets at Shades, the Military 4 dayPH for $156. If hubby books with an Annual Pass can we still get their tickets like we were planning or do we have to buy them as a package? I understand also, I think, that we would have 4 people, free dining for all the time we are there, when they leave do we need to keep there KTW tickets to use if we want all that extra food? We will be meeting up with friends who will be there at the same time and are staying at FW, could we, would it be ok, to take them to dinner on the extra food credits we will have? I'd like the extra snack credits for F&W if I could also...

You have to purchase a Disney package paying rack rate for your room and adding at least a 2 day base ticket for everyone in your room to get the free dining offer.

You cannot use your dining credits to purchase food for people not on your plan.

Is POR even available for that time? I had a huge issue re-booking for my dates in Oct when the Free Dining promo was announced (my dates have since sold-out)... I'm not an expert on tickets/pricing/etc, but just thought I'd let you know to check if those dates are available first :)

You are probably right, I think those do look like the blackout dates.

    Thank you!
We have never gotten the Dining before so I wasn't really sure how it worked. I had seen it could be booked on an Annual pass but didn't know if that meant we could do the rest of the tickets any other way. And I figured we couldn't take our friends out on the Plan, but wanted to make sure before we tried. But what about all the left over credits if we get the girls tickets as part of the package? Can my hubby and I use them? I don't see us eating that much food but the snack credits we probably would if we can...

You can buy paid dining with an AP and an AP rate (or full price) room but not free dining.

As to the extra credits, you should be able to use ones that are from your room as long as you are not trying to buy too many meals in one transaction. So you could do extra 2 credit meals, for example, but you couldn't take 2 people not on your reservation and buy them a meal.

Hubby does the booking, I do the packing:) He did say if we booked at POR we would have to upgrade as some rooms were all booked. This could all be for naught and we could still be going to SOG and he would have to suck it up about the pools:) I personally don't care where I stay, as long as I'm at Disney I'm happy!!!! We've never done Dining as we stay at SOG or off site at Bonnet Creek that's why I was asking, I just want EMH this time as our friends will be at the FW Campground and will be able to use EMH...

Have you looked into the military discounts for the rooms?? You might find that you are saving a huge chunk of change by doing that. Then you don't have to pay the extra money for tickets for your husband that he won't use since he has the AP. Since the kids are only going to be there for a small portion of the trip, getting those military tickets will be a huge savings there. I personally would bet that you will come out ahead or at least equal to free dining by using the military discounts over paying rack rate for the room and having to get 2 day tickets for everyone in your party. Even with the snacking around the World at the F&W festival.

we actually already have rooms booked at SOG, have had them for a while. And we normally buy our tickets through SOG. Has always saved us a ton of money. He just likes to swim in the mornings while I am still lazing in bed. They are going to be redoing the pools, 1 at a time and he has gotten himself all worried that the big pool will be closed while we are there:( So because of that he has started looking at other places and then saw the possibility of Free dining if we leave a day ahead of time...Due to my daughter and her friend only coming down the first 4 days I was just confused as to how it all works...It sounded like a great idea, if we could have done it without having to pay for extra tickets we could get cheaper...Oh well:)

I understand all of that.....however.....if your husband really wants the pool.....then you should look at the military discounts that Disney is offering (I'm not talking about SOG). Here is a link to the discounts: http://www.militarydisneytips.com/Di...es-Salute.html . 35% off of your room could be a good savings and make it worth the move. You wouldn't even need to change your dates but could keep your same trip dates. And, you can still get the military tickets as this is a room only discount. (And......if you really wanted DDP.....you could pay to add that without having to purchase tickets from Disney.)

Just something else to look at that could work better with what you already have planned.

Thanks for all your help and advice! After running numbers we're going to stick with our original plan, SOG and Military tickets for the girls, AP's for us:) Definitely will be cheaper since we would never eat all the food offered on a DDP, especially with the girls leaving after 4 days. We'll just pick up a TIW to help with food prices and go from there:) Thanks Again!
