    Kingdom Keepers

I saw this series at the library and wondered if any here has read it and would tell me if they are worth reading. I know they are just written for youth and am not expecting a wonderfully deep book but I wondered if they might be a fun Disney book. Here is a link to one of the books on Amazon.

I haven't read them, but my 13 year old has. She said you will never be able to ride It's a Small World and feel safe again lol. (She's a little melodramatic)

They're OK for adults, major fun for kids. I read all four to DD when she was 7-8. Really quick reads if you're reading them to yourself. If you have kids to read to, or slightly older kids that would read them by themselves, absolutely get them!
    Thanks,
    Doc

The bookstore I work at stocks these. I think they're fun. Like other people have said, superb literature they are not but well worth reading. (Especially if you have a WDW trip coming up.)

We are headed on a trip to DC in a few weeks I might have to pick them up. I like some light reading when I am on Vacation sounds perfect!
BookMommy- working in a book store I would love that. DH says I would give up food to buy books...and he is mostly right!

It is a fun job! My dh teases me about my book habit too, he says that on my checks it should just say "will work for books". (But in all honesty, I do come home with something more often than not!) :)

My DH and I have read them and we have them for our son. He's still a bit under the reading level for these but we all enjoy them.

DD10 has them and has read parts of them to the DD5. It's funny to hear the DD5 continually say "I know where they are!" as she recognizes the the locations. I would say all of them are pretty much the same so if they like the first one - the whole series would be a go. One of them we read together at night a couple of months before our vacation.

I have adult friends who have read them, and they have said the same thing! They said the books are a fun read.

I'm not sure if the 5th one is out yet, but it is/will be set on a Disney Cruise Line ship.
    Thanks,

Nope. For any series I think kids usually like to start with book 1 but you don't have to in order to understand the story. I usually tell customers to start with book 1 and then just get any book that looks good after that. :)

I think with this series it is best to start at book 1. All through the books they make a lot of references to what has happened previously without going into much detail.

Also, book 5 is out and is very good. Some new villains make appearances and I'm not sure I would want to go to Castaway Cay now.

Love these books! I'm currently reading Book 5 to Hannah at bedtime. We've read all of them in order. But that's just how I am! LOL

Another good series is Peter and the Starcatchers.

I too love this series. I actually have listened to the audiobooks instead of reading them. I work in a library so it was free and easy! My mom also listened to them and when we visited the AK, we almost ran right over Devine! Mom said that she would have never known about Devine without reading the books. It was a wonderful experience watching people do double takes when they realized that the tree was walking around them and not vice versa. LOL

I just convinced DD11 to get the first one from the library. She's a very reluctant reader because of visual processing issues so she really dislikes reading books besides graphic novels that are geared towards younger audiences but when I pointed this one out she agreed that it sounded good. She's put in a request for it so we'll get an email once it comes in from another town. She actually plans to read it. It helps I suppose that she also signed up for the summer reading program at the library right before that. The prizes really are nothing to write home about (coupon for a slice of pizza that she can't eat because of allergies followed by a temporary tatoo of a bat) but she doesn't care; she likes the acknowledgement of getting prizes and wants her name hung on the wall. Whatever works, right?

I love this book! I have only read the first one in the series, but it is awesome. I read it to my fourth grade class this year, and they were all on the edge of their seats. I would definately recommend it!!!

My 11 yr old daughter is very into these. She can't wait for #6. She is begging me to read the series! I will -- it is next on my list.

I do not allow my kids to read anything I haven't first read myself. So, being the good mother that I am...I have read the first 3 and am waiting on my 12 year old to finish and then we will get the 4th! Love them. It is our Summer reading series!
