A major difference between Photopass and Photopass +, which I'm sure is mentioned on the StitchKingdom website (I have not read that article), is that advance purchase of Photopass + is not refundable. So you really need to be committed to get the pictures no matter what, because you've already paid for them.

I pre-purchased photopass when the price was $99. Because PhotoPass+ is now available for prepurchase at a discount, I've decided that I want that one instead. We've always gotten photopass before--I stretch out our pictures with the different borders on their site, and I usually end up with around 500 pictures for a 6 day trip. In all the years, I've never bought any ride pictures and the only meal picture I bought was at the Luau the first year we went.
I called Photopass Customer Service yesterday, and they're giving me $99 credit and I'll just owe the money for the upgrade to Photopass+. The Photopass CM was very, very nice and informative. If anyone has any questions about it, please ask me! :)

I just started to consider this.

I've started a Photopass share with 2 other families on another site I frequent. Neither of them has been to WDW before (or at least not since they were kids.) I prepurchased the CD at $99, and figured that each of us would pay $33; my husband will mail them a CD of their pictures.

But now, 2 days before my trip, I'm starting to think about "plus." We'll be on Space and Splash mountains, Buzz, Rock'n'Roller, Dinosaur, Chef Mickeys, and Hoop De Doo. According to what I've read http://wdwnewstoday.com/archives/9081 I think the photos from each of those locations would be included, right??

Can I ask: how much would it cost to upgrade? I'm thinking of upgrading for myself, and just letting the other 2 families keep what they've agreed to (of course, I'll run it by them before doing anything.)

    Does my reasoning make sense??
We leave for the Beach Club on AUGUST 1st!!! So close I can almost taste it!

I believe you have to upgrade at least 14 days before your trip because they have to get the card to you before you go so the choice is now out of your hands, though you can certainly call to confirm. It would have cost you $70 to upgrade. If you had prepurchased at the current price rather than before the price went up then the prepurchase upgrade cost would be $50. If you upgrade at the park you'll have to pay the difference between the full price (I think maybe $200) and what you paid so if I'm right about the full price cost then it would be $100 in the parks.

Yes, those two meal photos and all those ride photos would be included with the plus.

OK, the 2 week requirement makes it an easy decision then. Thenks so much for the info. Maybe I'll ask in the parks and see if it can be done on the spot somehow.

Thanks so much for the info!

You can upgrade in the parks. Unfortunately, you'll pay full price. You'll get a credit for what you paid for your prepurchase but the total paid to Disney Photopass will be the full plus price, not the prepurchase plus price.

Yes, it's $70 for the upgrade. Can't wait to get all the ride photos!

Sorry for the late question to this forum, but...
I just received my photopass+ package in the mail. I have a good handle on how it works, but this discussion has me second guessing myself.
My question is, do I get a hard copy of the photos taken at designated rides and restaurants with this pass, or just the digital rights to the pictures?
One of the reasons I bought the photopass+ was because I thought it included the picures you get at the end of the ride or the ones from Hoop de Doo etc.
The vague ramblings on this thread have me wondering if it is the contrary.
    Can anyone assuage my doubts?

At restaurants where you normally pay extra for the print package (actual printed photos) you get the print package at no extra cost. With that print package you get a code to add them to your photopass account.
For the rides you just get the digital image added to your photopass account. You do not get any prints at no extra cost.

Thanks Fizbo. That clears things up. I'm a little disappointed that we don't get the prints at the rides, but I guess I should read the print more finely...
All in all I think it will end up being a good investment. We are doing several of the dining options, and we will ride all of the rides that offer digital copies.

You're welcome Br'er Brian. Just don't throw me into that briar patch.

I like that you don't get the printed picture from the rides. I would then have to be careful about carrying them all day and keeping them from getting bent.

I think it's going to be worth it. I'm excited to get to see all of the ride photos. At MNSSHP I'm planning to ride all the rides with photos while we are dressed in our costumes.

Every year for my parents and my in laws I make these photo calendars (some years on shutterfly, some through iPhoto on my mac). If everything with photopass+ works out like I'm hoping I plan to make FIL (who will be on the trip) a calendar with some ride photos and some regular photopass ones.

Remember that you get a license to the files, and can take them to your local photo processor to get prints. It will be quite inexpensive.
