Thread: Via Napoli

    Via Napoli

We loved this! The day we were there (Sunday, Mid-May), they were taking walk-ins at 6 pm, but the restaurant was mostly full. We were there with a 4.5 and 2 yo.

Decor/Inside: Huge room with high-ceiling. It's loud, but not so much that you can't have a nice conversation. There is a large, communal table (probably seats 40) in the middle. They do seat smaller groups there - it's a bit higher up than the other tables and you sit on stools. I did see kids sitting there, so they must have different high chairs/booster for them. The pizza ovens are open to the room and it's good for a few minutes of entertainment for the kids. It's bright light-wise, but in a good way.

    Food:

Appetizers seem reasonably priced. We had the fritto verdure, fried vegetables. It was a good sized portion easy to share - with artichokes, mushrooms, eggplant, zucchini, and a few others things that I've forgotten. Probably 10 good sized pieces in all. It was served with a spicy marinara. We also had the arancini - three big arancini sitting in a thin layer of regular marinara. I believe the arancini also had some type of meat/sausage in the middle, but it was just a little. My 2 yo loved the arancini. Both were good, filling appetizers and a good value for the money. I could have easily gone there just to eat apps.

We shared a large pepperoni pizza (not very exciting, but i knew the kids would eat it). It had a thinner, delicious crust and tons of tiny pepperoni rings. I thought the pizza was excellent - not exactly like pizza I remember from Italy, but far better than most any pizza I 've had. I believe it was $28, which, even given the quality of ingredients, seemed a bit overpriced, but not as much as other things at Disney. My kids are big eaters, so we usually eat more than a large, but it was plenty filling. I don't even thing we finished it. We also had the "pizza" salad for 2. It is mesclun greens served in a bowl and you help yourself - it wasn't terrible interesting, but it had a nice, lighter dressing and a few interesting things (olives, pepperoncini). The order for 2 was plenty, we each had several servings and gave some to the kids.

My husband had a big mug of Moretti and I had a wine "special" they had.

Our bill was $95 with tip.

Overall: I'd highly recommed this and if you had an especially big party, it would be fun to sit at the communal table in the middle. Or, if you're not into a heavier meal, it would be a good place to go and have some interesting apps for dinner. Whenever we got back, this will be on our list.

Totally agree - Via Napoli rocks. We would go there every time, but there are so many other places in WS to try. BTW, the sangria is quite good too...

Another vote for Via Napoli. It's about as authentic as Disney gets with regards to trying to serve up the real thing. Though no self-respecting Neapolitan pizzeria would ever put pepperoni on a pizza. It's strictly an antipasto item, which Americans have adopted or whatever reason. Minor quibble, I know. The arancini are as good as my Sicilian father and grandparents ever made, the filling in the center being just a touch of seasoned ground beef and a couple of fresh peas. And that marinara is made from real San Marzano tomatoes. You really can taste the difference.

Sadly, we didn't make it to Via Napoli last week. But the same management owns and operates Naples, at DLR's DTD, with identical pizzas and much the same menu. And we all know how much better everything is at DLR! We'll be there for a few days in September.

Thanks for the review - it sounds great. I can't wait to try it for the first time on our next trip in January. You ordered exactly what I think my family will!!

We went to Via Napoli for the first time a few weeks ago. Loved it. Fun, but also relaxing. Surprisingly, they were able to do a 1/2 red sauce, 1/2 no sauce pizza for us (I wanted to artichoke one, DH wanted the sausage one) and it works fine. We paired it with the family style salad and it worked great. According to our waiter, its not quite like the pizza you would get in Naples, but its close.

Side note: the sangria was awesome.

That is the large! Here's another shot with us in it so you can judge how large it is. Had we not been there during F&W we would have gotten the 1/2 meter!
