    Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Question.

We will be vacationing at WDW June 11-16th. I was wondering if anyone has heard an update on BTMRR. Of course, I hope that the refurbishment is complete by then. With Test Track closed my 14 year old son is also really hoping for it too. Thanks!

Disney lists it as (on their calendar http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/calendars/):
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad - Closed For Refurbishment [ Tuesday, May 01 - Sunday, May 27 ]

I'm going about the same time.
    Windsor Hills: June 2012
    GKTW: January 2009
    ASMu: September 1997
    Off-site: July 1978

Yea, it's weird, looking at the June calendar it shows BTMRR like Julie says, Tuesday, May 01 - Sunday, May 27.

Heck, it shows the same thing all the way through November!

    I don't think I've heard yet that they've announced a re-open date?

Those dates say to me that it will officially re-open on the 28th. But I hold out hope they'll do a "soft opening" when we're at MK on the 18th.

Do we even know what the refurbishment entails? Is it just a sprucing-up? If anything, I hope they turn the volume down on the lift hills. I'm not particularly sensitive to loud, but that noise is just ridiculous.

A major refurbishment. I'm expecting it to reopen on time. The track is set and they've been running trains off and on for about two weeks.

Looks like it is still set for 5/27. I'm curious to know what 5 months of rehab did. I know the elements take a beating on things but I'm more curious if they did anything for the ride or interior elements with the opening of the 7 Dwarfs ride in Fantasyland in a few. Just a note that for anyone who has never rode Big Thunder in the dark it is a must do. Totally different experience.

We saw a train running on it when we were there end of last week - Thursday maybe I think when we were on the train.

If you mean that click clacking as it goes up the hill....I have to put my hands over my ears. I also find RnR to be extremely loud. I used ear plugs the last time we were there.

    Yup - that's what I mean. And I don't even find R 'n R too loud.

It reopened this afternoon, which is about four days late. They ran it for 20 minutes and then evacuated it But it's back up!

So happy that the BTMRR refurb is done. We leave Thursday and it's one of my families favorite rides. Thanks for the update Josh! Looking forward to the review of your first ride post-refurb.

For god's sake, at least buy a few of these and stuff 'em in the bottom of your pack

    http://www.amazon.com/Outdoor-Produc...8160918&sr=8-9

They roll up super tiny and are 100% waterproof.
