I've never done a trip report, so please be kind.
My name is Kelly and I am a WDW-holic. Or a Disney-phile. Whichever term works best for you. My first trip to WDW took place in August of 1996 for my honeymoon. I had wanted to go as a teen and my parents never wanted to take us, so when my husband asked where I wanted to go, I knew the exact place. We actually stayed in Kissimmee and did Sea World, Disney, and I think US. To be honest it's all kind of a blur...we drove all night, and well, it WAS a long time ago
Since then we've gone 7 or 8 times with various numbers of children. We have stayed on poperty and off property at time shares. If I had my druthers, we'd always stay on property, but since the kids number 4 now it tends to be very cost prohibitive for us.
Most of the on property stays were at values, except for one. We stayed at POR when our third child was 4. LOVED IT.
Last year we went to Disney in first week of June, stayed at timeshare somewhere...it was fairly close, but not as close as I would have liked. Youngest had just turned 3 and others wanted to go so we twisted husband's arm and we went. BUT he is pretty much done with WDW.which does not bode well for the future....
By mid-July I realized I was gonna need another Disney fix, but needed a plan to get it. My husband is a runner and I am not. period. Running sucks. It makes you sweat and breathe hard and et's face it there are other things you can do which have the same result and are more funBut I had an inspritation. I came across a mention of the Princess half marathon and I thought BINGO! "Honey, what would you say to you and I training together for this Disney half?" (he did the marathon in 2006 and I gladly went along to cheer him on) He thought that was a good idea and he agreed. BUT notice the title of this report??? Girls only.
Remember I mentioned we have 4 kids? We also don't have any family living closer than 2 1/2 hours. I began to realize we didn't have anyone to watch our kids....thus I approached him and suggested maybe I could do a gal pal trip with some of my closest friends...and surprise. He said yes. (anything to get me to run)
Unfortunately, all of my closest gal pals except one decided not to participate. Something about they couldn't do Disney since their kids hadn't gone yet...blah...blah lol. But I do have a girlfriend (we'll call her B) getting married in June and she was anxious to get back into shape. SHE SAID YES! On the down side, she was arunner, and has enthusiastically gotten back into it...ugh. Runners suck.
Now B did actually go with our family on a trip in 2005. This was when thied child was 2. I had just discovered TGM, thought I could do the tour plan thing...and I turned into a nazi. We all laugh about that trip.........now.
The particulars of the trip are we fly from Chicago on Thursday Feb 23rd at 6AM ( so I count this as a full DIsney day) and leave Monday, Feb 27th around noon. So I get to enjoy Thur, Fri, and Sat of just being at Disney. We are staying at All Star Music - really wanted to splurge on something nicer but knew my hubby would never go for that.
Wow...I hope I haven't been blathering too much....I just enjoy reading so much of everyone's history on here I thought I'd share...sorry! Next i will write about my "training" for the half- marathon....dear Lord help me now.
