Thread: AKV, BCV or Split?

    Smile AKV, BCV or Split?

This is still a bit of pie in the sky. I'd like to take my DD18 back to WDW next Jan during her college winter break. (Of course before I can actually plan anything she has to get accepted, pick a college, get the calendar...and then if there is anything besides moths in my wallet I can start making real plans.)

If I could schedule exactly what I wanted I would have six nights, and a four day hopper (hopefully Disney will continue to offer the military 4 day hopper). Arrive late afternoon, 2 park days, 1 rest day, 2 park days, leave midday. I always try to do too much and I'd like to force time into the schedule for rest/resort/downtown disney.

I'd like to rent DVC points to allow us to stay in a "deluxe" location at a more reasonable cost (for the 2 of us a studio would be fine).

On the one hand I know we'd love the AKV at Jambo House, but the convenience of the Beach Club seems like an awfully good attraction too. If I could do a day or tow at AKV and then move that might work too.

In January the days are short and "cold"...so I'm not sure how much of a chance we'd have to enjoy the various amenities. I'd welcome any opinions..

They're both great places. I would lean towards Beach Club in the summer (because of Stormalong Bay) or during Food & Wine Festival (if you could get it) and AKV in the winter.

If you pack light and don't utilize the kitchen, maybe switching resorts would work for you, but I'd rather not have the disruption of moving. We had a four week trip to Disney in August and switched to a different DVC property every week. We had a three week trip to Hawaii last month and spent two of those weeks in one timeshare. It was REALLY nice not having to move. The weekly moves at DVC were okay, but disruptive.

The Epcot resort area offers tons of restaurants, recreation and entertainment at your fingertips. Plus you are in walking distance to Epcot's World showcase and a water launch to the studios. For a young couple I think there will be more options for you.
    Have A Great Day!

I've done a split stay of these two resorts several times. It really works out well-AK and MK while I'm at AKV-Jambo, then Epcot and DHS from BCV.

For that short of trip switching would really be disruptive. New room keys, more check in wait etc.

Hmm. I think I'd consider doing a split stay. I am normally the first to say NO to split stays. I hate them and never recommend them. However, you are two adults there for a fairly short trip. So it won't be a huge hassle to pack and unpack. Also, you already have a break day planned. So you wouldn't be trying to fit in park time on your moving day. So, you can take your time. Swim if it's nice. Spend time at both resorts if it's not. And I agree with Simbasmom - you can do EP and HS the days you are at BCV and MK and AK the other days! Maybe check the recommended days and plan around that to figure out which resort to do first.
