    Sci fi

Well I may get crucified for this, but we loved the SCI FI! Hubby and DS had the double cheeseburgers and shakes! Mom and I had the steak-it was good! The steaks were decent. Love the atmosphere!!

The food was terrible when we ate there (and we got burgers, onion rings, and spinach dip, which are all supposedly decent items) - neither DH nor I would be willing to go back again.

We quite enjoyed it as well. It's certainly not gourmet food but we enjoy the cheesy atmosphere, the B (or is that D) movie clips and did enjoy our food quite a bit as well. DH got the burger and said it was decent while the kids and I all got ribs which were fall off the bone tender. Allergy safe milk shakes was the cherry on top for us. I really like the dimly lit quiet atmosphere for a relaxing break. I also like that DH and I got to sit kind of alone while the kids had their own seat in front of us (yes we were in the same car but the kids did not turn around much because they were captivated by the movie clips).

Tried it many years ago (7 or 8) and the food was okay, nothing special. But haven't been back because my son really did not like the atmosphere. He was still a little afraid of the dark at the time. He asked to try it again, but in looking at the new menu, we can't really find anything we want to order. So we'll continue to skip it.

I am another one who enjoys Sci-Fi. My DD and I find it fun, relaxing, and the food we have had there has always been good. Is it gourmet? Nope - but the burgers and onion rings are always tasty, and I have to agree on the ribs. And there milkshakes are AWESOME.

We can't do DHS without a stop at Sci-Fi.

My oldest friend and I had lunch at the Sci Fi last spring. We had a drink with a glow cube and had a ball watching the movies...many of which we actually saw together when we were kids! Too funny.

I made an ADR at Sci Fi for lunch for our HS day. I hesitated quite a bit because of all the bad food reviews, but I was hemming and hawing because it just looked like so much fun! I was still see-sawing when DD6 saw the pictures of it in the Unofficial Guide Color Companion and started oohing and ahhing. She showed her sisters, who want to go, too. We'll have fun, even if the food is mediocre.

We have eaten there a couple of times and found the food to be fine, nothing spectacular, but fine. It's the atmosphere that we go for....so much fun! That being said, last year we had an ADR there and we just weren't very hungry when the time came around. So, we opted to just have dessert (although we originally planned to have lunch there), and it was a great way to experience the restaurant! We made sure to tip our waitress well, since we did not order a meal, and she seemed fine with us just ordering dessert.

We had a fun time there for dinner in December 2010. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and my DD (8 at the time) especially enjoyed the movie clips. The food was tasty and we had a great waiter who brought me a cheeseburger even though it wasn't on the dinner menu at that time and gave DD a shake and cherry coke on the DDP, like the OP! We'll be back again for lunch on our next trip
Hoping for a new countdown ticker sometime soon....

I'm a fan of Sci Fi, too!! Not so much for the food but the atmosphere. Heck, you can't see what you're eating ;-)

I do like the Tomato Soup and tend to eat light in there. DD & DH usually stick with burgers.

We really like going to go the Sci Fi, its different and lots of fun. DH never met a barbeque rib he didnt like... I really like the idea of just going for dessert, didnt realize we could do that.

Not sure if they still have ribs on the menu..
Overall, the food is so-so. Can certainly do better, but could also easily do worse.
The truly great thing, is it is probably the most peaceful restaurant in any of the parks. Dark, cool, and everyone quietly watches the movie. It's a wonderful break in the middle of the day for lunch.

I'm glad you had a good time. I really wanted to like it. But we had poor service and mediocre food.

We went to Sci Fi in December and although it wasn't the best meal we had, it was just neat to have a different experience. Burgers and milkshakes, its classic.

On the flip side, the service was very slow and we were there long enough where we started to see the same movie clips again. You would think that they'd have more videos to show instead of a 45 or 1 hour loop?

Yes, it would be nice if it were on a 3-4 hour loop :). I know there are more clips available! MST3K has plenty!

DH & I love Sci-Fi! And he swears it is the quietest restaurant in Disney.
If your first experience in a place is poor (service, food...), it's really hard to want to give it another chance. I feel that way about Bistro de Paris.
