Highchairs...

Okay, WDW highchairs. What are they like? Are they the same everywhere? How clean are they usually?

Also, do we leave the stroller outside or do we take it inside at any of the restaurants? (I'm wondering this in case the younger one is asleep in it when we are going in to eat.)

I've seen mostly the wooden frame ones that you pull up to the table, but I know at some point in the past I have also seen a plastic type with a tray - less of those though. I've been out of highchair mode for quite a while. I can't think of any location that you can take your stroller inside, or that they would want you to do that.

The only location that let our stroller inside with a sleeping baby was 50's prime time cafe.

We do have an ADR at 50's. I'll have to remember that.

Are they fairly clean? Wondering if I should bring along lysol wipes or a shopping cart/highchair cover thing I have.

I'm the least germophobe type ever - really - but I think I would still be wiping down at least the tray and the arms of any highchair with some wipes.

All of the highchairs we were given during our trip in Feb. 2010 were wood construction and clean (as far as we could see). My wife would wipe them down before and after our little girl was in it. Also, we had a floppy seat thing that would unfold to cover the whole top part of the highchair. We only used the floppy when we knew we were going to be sitting down to eat (we didn't lug it around the whole day). I think as long as you have a travel case of baby wipes you should be good to go. I took a sleeping baby in a stroller into Boma, not sure if it was allowed only because it was a resort. All other meals she was awake, so it didn't come up.

I am the germophobe type. I'd be wiping those suckers down before my kid would come within 3 feet of that highchair. You never know what was leaking out the diaper of the kid before yours, and is now creepy crawlin' all over that highchair--eeeeewwww!!

Same here. Boma was the only restaurant we had to deal with a sleeping baby. they had no problem letting us wheel the stroller into the restaurant.

we did a general wipe down and brought those disposable placemats that stick to the table and he ate off of those since he was in the plate dumping stage. The highchairs were clean, but I still used a wipe and did a quick once over.

Yeah, we're there now. I should probably stock up on those mats.

The high chairs we encountered at Disney were cleaner than most high chairs at a typical restaurant not at Disney. We were able to bring a stroller into Crystal Palace on our last trip. It is allowed but probably not recommended at most restaurants because of size restrictions. I would plan on having to leave the stroller outside if nothing more than courtesy to other patrons.

They actually let us bring our DOUBLE stroller (tandem, not side-by-side) into Le Cellier. Our DD1 was sound asleep for the first half of lunchtime. It was a little tight, but not too bad. It was the hostess' idea, not ours. We'e also brought it into some other places too Electric Umbrella in EPCOT, Cosmic Rays in MK, probably others too. We've not had issues with WDW highchairs (they even have non-broken straps for the most part). We sometimes wipe them down with Germ-X wipes, but not always. The kids eat off the tables, not the highchairs.

We were able to take our stroller into Ohana, Cinderella's Royal Table, Kona, 1900 Park Fair, and Chef Mickey's. He was only asleep at two of these places. Now given my son was just 4 months old and couldn't sit in a regular high chair. The only place that would not allow it was Garden Grill because of limited aisle space. They mentioned that they had the tilted carrier-like chair (like the shopping cart carrier seat) for the babies that can't sit up. I threw a blanket over it and he was good to go. They also moved one of the regular chairs from the table and that was where we placed his seat. They couldn't put him at the end of the table in the aisle because of the characters. In other words, our party of 4+a high chair could only be at a six-top table. I would just ask when you check in. WDW loves to accommodate their guests Have a wonderful trip!

Thanks for the info about The Garden Grill. We do have an ADR there, and will be 4 + highchair. I guess that would make sense due to the way the restaurant is set up; that the highchair can't go at the end of the table.
