ke, invite a friend over to have on hand for part of the day. You know the kind of friend who won't care what you look like or what you do, but they'll hang around just in case. My DS2 (at the time) wouldn't hold the new infant or even care to go near him for at least 2-3 days home and I was in the hospital for 4 days (c-sections). Now, they are BEST friends. Good luck on your first day on your own!
Jill, so glad your pupper is good. Those pets are tough and the bills! Glad to hear you got dismissed from jury duty! DH once got picked for a federal case and had to go for a little over a week. Maybe now you and your DH can celebrate your anniversary.

So funny that you said "pupper"....we call her that all the time.
You know, we really don't do much to celebrate anniversaries anyway. But I couldn't even just enjoy the day since I was so worried about the dog. I'm just happy she seems to be doing much better. Fast asleep on the floor right now.

Glad your pup is OK!
Ke_page hope all is well today and that you somehow can get rest!!!

I'm so glad to hear all the kids are all right, even the furry one!

I survived!! There were a few times today that I'm pretty sure I heard the rocky theme song play in my head... but we made it! And it wasn't quite as bad as I expected. Although I am ready for a nice LARGE glass of wine..... and looking very forward to the weekend!
And while I'm on the topic... can I just say that I heard on the news that they are now saying that 5-8 drinks a week in the first part of pregnancy has no impact on children!!! REALLY!!!! This comes out NOW! After 9 months of no drinks... I could have had a few!! REALLY!?!
I think I've read that one drink a day isn't harmful but considering how often they (you know, this mysterious they of whom they speak) go back and forth I'm not sure I'd take the chance. Way to go on surviving. LOL
I just got back from our town's first farmer's market of the season. Hot day for it. Anyway, one of the vendors immediately knew what my purse was (my most recent Disney Dooney & Bourke). We got talking Disney. They own DVC and go annually. She totally gets my D&B obsession and admired my purse. LOL I didn't think of it until now but I should have mentioned that she should do a line of Disney inspired jewelry (her booth is all hand crafted jewelry, beads and silver). I've bought earings from her in the past; very nice stuff. I would definitely go for that though I might be her only customer for that line. LOL

I came home to a voicemail from DVC asking me to participate in a marketing survey tomorrow ten minutes from home/work. They want to survey those who recently purchased DVC resale, and will give me $200 for an hour of my time. By the time I called back, all the slots were filled, but I'm first on the waitlist if there are any cancellations.

"You are with Sigourney Weaver aboard the spaceship Nostromo. Something has gone wrong. One by one, the crew has vanished, and somewhere in the ship, a terrifying creature waits to claim its next victim."
Oh my! I was talking to AnnaMay about what was the most important thing for us to do on the trip and she says "the only thing I can't miss is seeing Chef Jose" Oh my how in the world am I supposed to be sure she gets to see the chef that fixed our food at the POP last time???? Our reservations are not even at the POP for this trip. I could move them there (Jill don't kill me) but I know Disney is always moving chefs around so that is no guarantee. Of all the must do things!!!
Hmmmmm........maybe this is a good time to teach her that sometimes we can't get what we want?? I think that I'd probably sit her down and explain to her that there is no way for you to know where he is at and also that you aren't going to be at POP so even if he is still there, you won't be able to go there. Let her know that you'd like for her to see him because you agree that he was just amazing but it just might not happen this trip. Then maybe help her figure out another most do???
I have to admit.....things like this make me thankful that I can't have kids. With nieces and nephews I never have to do the hard stuff!!!!!!

Brenda that is how we would normal handle it. The problem is that this is a surprise trip so I can't talk to specifically with her. Because of her issues she rarely gets attached to people but when she does she gets really attached...it makes it hard. Right now we are booked at AoA so we could go across and see if he is going to be at the POP but if free dining happens to come out for our dates and AoA was not included we were thinking to move up to a mod since it would save money to do that. Now I am starting to wonder if moving to a Mod would be a mistake not just because of this but because of her comfort zone especially since I can't really talk to her ahead of time. I would just call off the surprise part of it but she requested it. She does know that we are planning a trip though just not when so maybe I need to sit down and talk to her about resort choices. Sorry this got long I was just thinking out loud...
I think that makes sense. Since she knows the trip is coming up I'd talk to her in terms of "what if" we stayed someplace that Jose wasn't at. Explain to her that no matter where you stay he might not be there this trip for a variety of reasons (ie. he might not work at Disney anymore, he might be at a different resort, he might be on vacation.) I think that might help her and then you can always go in with the idea that maybe there will be some Disney magic and they will run into him though and then it would be a fantastic bonus! Good luck! I know that has to be really hard!
Off Topic- but...

ETA: Oh for Pete's sake- I am such a goober. Need to expand my horizons a bit and get out of that Theme Park Touring and Strategy forum more often.
I see you did indeed have that baby!
Congratulations and wishing Emma Grace a happy happy life!

I need an intervention.
DD11 was walking and took a step wrong somehow. She now has visible swelling and a lot of pain. Being me, of course my first thought was "I don't really have to think about another August trip with Natalie in a wheelchair, do I?" followed by "I don't need to get dressed and take her for an xray do I?" Clearly I'm a wonderful mom. LOL Doctor (I phoned) said ice and Tylenol and bring her in if it's still swollen on Monday. I'm so not a good judge of these things. When she broke her ankle I made her "walk it off" for a week before I brought her to the doctor since I figured if she could walk on it then it must not be too bad. Again, I'm clearly a wonderful mom.
Background: DD11 needed a wheelchair for our August 2010 trip because she had a broken ankle. It was broken in the growth plate and the doctor didn't want her putting much weight on it. She broke it slipping on a small stone when just walking. She's so me. As a kid, my mom used to joke that I could trip over a blade of grass.

Yeah, Dumbo was basically a walk on all morning/early afternoon today. Went on five times and never had to wait longer than it took for the next cycle to load. Interactive queue is massively cute.
