I remember the Garden Grill being my favorite restaurant on a trip I took to WDW in 1997. I ate there immediately after riding "Living with the Land" and it was just a delightful experience. FWIW, I'm into gardening and green living, so this is kind of my thing. I want to take my kids there when we go in 2012. I was excited to see this is now a character meal place!

Anyway, the question is about the kid's menu and kids. My kids will like everything on both menus (the one will probably skip the veggies, I'm hoping taking the ride beforehand will inspire her to at least try some :RpS_tongue:). All three of my kids may have a meltdown if they don't get some of the beef. :RpS_thumbdn: It's all served family style, yet the kids get a kids meal. This is confusing. Can the kids eat some of the family style offerings without the staff throwing a hissy fit/charging adult prices? :RpS_confused: We're planning on doing the Disney Dining Plan.

ETA: At time of travel, the kids will be 8, 8, and 7.

As far as I know, yes, kids can eat the adult food. I think the kid's menu is there for those children who won't eat the adult offerings, which, based on what I've read in various posts over the years, is a significant number of children.

We've eaten there several times with our children. The kids have eaten the adult selections, and it was served family style--honestly, it's easier on the server to not have to bring out different meals for the kids. At the time, we were on the dining plan, and there was never anything said about the kids having to eat off the kids menu. This was one of the reasons we chose repeat visits to the Garden Grill, as the kids were very underwhelmed by the lack of variety the WDW offers for kids menus. The servers were always happy to bring us extra servings as we really enjoyed the fish and the smashed potatoes.

Ah thank you both, exactly the information I was looking for! I've been browsing WDW restaurants after finding little but burgers and nuggets there on our last trip. Granted, that was a Make-a-Wish trip in 2008 (one of my twins had cancer, she's been in remission for 2.5 years) and we only spent about 3 half-ish days at WDW and didn't do any information hunting beforehand (pure exhaustion). The girls were all tiny (ages 4, 4, 3) and didn't mind, but we adults sure minded. :RpS_tongue:

I have one picky eater, one that will literally eat anything, and one in the middle. I was happy to see fresh fish on many of the kids menus, 2 out of 3 children will be pleased. The other one just wants mac & cheese and nuggets anyway. :RpS_thumbup:

Julie, as a side note, if you ride Living with the Land before going to dinner, you can see where they raise their own fish for the restaurants. If you're so inclined, you can point that out to the kids and tell them they can eat the farmed fish at Garden Grill tonight.

Thanks. :) I don't think they were raising fish in the Land the last time I was there (1997, we didn't go to Epcot in 2008).
