Normally goes out on Mondays... but here goes...

What was the #1 reason you chose your home resort?

Very easy here. BLT: Convenience to MK/monorail resorts. Location Location Location.

SSR - because it is what was for sale at the time. VGC - because we travel to DL almost as much as WDW.

We chose SSR solely on price alone. AKV was just starting to be sold and they were getting towards the end of SSR points, so they wre offering several sale incentives to close out SSR. We probally saved at least 3500 dollars on points alone compared to purchasing AKV. We bought 230 plus they moved my usage date from 07/08 back to 12/07. Plus other stuff like gift cards. We travel during none peak time so we never have a problem getting our choice of resort. In fact we haven't stayed at our home base SSR yet.

SSR because it is the one we first fell in love with. We did a DVC tour during our first trip to WDW in Jan 2006 and just loved SSR. We still do love it. Even after staying at AKV and BCV....we are very happy with our SSR purchase. We would like to own at VGC some day but need to get some more SSR points before that happens.

We own at SSR, and we bought there because we legitimately fell in love with it. I've stayed at other resorts, and I desperately want to own points at VGC, but SSR really is home for us when we stay there.

Length of contract which would be very closely tied to location. We own at BLT. I absolutely love the EPCOT DVCs and would have owned there in a heart beat however the shorter contract was always the sticking point. There were other DVC resorts with longer contracts but not the location type we were looking for. When BLT opened it was perfect, exactly the combo we wanted. We bought it sight unseen. Well we had seen the outside :RpS_wink: but purchased last June from our Doorway to Dreams store. Our first stay there is in just 3 weeks! :RpS_biggrin:

Sorry a bit off topic, but I just have to say I second that emotion! It was our first DVC stay last July and I simply fell in love with the place! We were able to book at 7 months, but if that trend seems to change after Aulani opens and VGC becomes a "stop over" for members I may just have to force myself to add on there! :RpS_wink:

We had a choice between AKV and BLT. We actually signed BLT first, but then changed to AKV. Our reason at that time was price, theme and our kids love animals. Also, BLT didn't seem to fit our style - too cold looking for us, however it's location really drew us in (can't beat it).

We are a family of 5 and are currently comfortable staying in a 1 bedroom (2 bathrooms - huge plus). We found that we could buy more points at AKV for less money. AKV has so many different accomodation options if you need to be point savy or want to splurge. - Value, Concierge, Savannah view, standard view.

My kids love the animals, the pool, and the activities. My husband and I love the theme and how clean AKV always is. It's truly a beautiful resort that makes you feel that you are far, far away!!

I bought my DVC resale at OKW because I could get the number of points I wanted at a good price with a whole TON of previously banked points, and I knew I could be happy staying at OKW only if things change and it comes to that. The length of contract didn't bother me. If I keep it till it expires (and I plan to), I'll be 70 years old when it runs out. By that time, hopefully my kids will take me to WDW on THEIR DVC points!! I'll have done it enough for THEM!! LOL!!

Because SSR had the best deal going at the time (Fall '05) if one didn't know about resale, which we didn't. $85/point. At the time, it was the only resort they were selling unless you were willing to badger the rep about "sold out" resorts. We saved ~$15/point buying at SSR.

You can use the quote button. In the case of your above post....the last QUOTE is must missing a bracket and slash....it should be [/QUOTE]

AKL...We love the animals, and the extra bathroom! Makes it managable to do 5 in a one bedroom! Also like the peacefulness, and somplace we figured we could go even without the kids (when they grow up!)

AKL - we loved the theme. Did not really care for BLT (too sterile - reminds me of work).

I am late to the party but...

our choice was AKV or SSR. We let our son pick because he is spoiled rotten. He picked AKV. After staying at the Beach Club on a couples only trip for the food and wine fest, we added on at BCV!
