If I had a 4 day child MYW w/ park hopper ticket - could I covert it to an adult MYW without park hopper pass that was say 10 days? The 4 day MYW adult w/ Park Hopper Face value right now is $263 and the 10 day w/ no park hopper adult ticket is $262. I'm sure I wouldn't get refunded the difference but could I do that?

Also if I had a 1 day unused ticket that I wanted to convert from a 1 day to a longer ticket would I need to do that after I go to the park or could I convert it earlier?

For the 1 day ticket, you can upgrade it at any time within 14 days of first using it, whether you used it already or not.

For the other, I'm not sure. Disney's policy is that tickets cannot be returned once purchased. So if they allow upgrading from child to adult, it would work out and you would be charged the difference between the ticket you have and the ticket you want. However, I don't know if they would let you do that or not - it probably depends on whether it's considered an upgrade (then yes) or a return (then no). I checked the famous Ticket Sticky on the DISboards and this item is not addressed that I could see.

All I truly know is that if a child becomes an adult and has a partially used ticket (with non expiring ticket obviously), you can exchange their ticket for an adult ticket for no charge.

If you have an unused child's ticket and that child has now become an adult, you have to pay the difference between the child's ticket price and the adult ticket price. But those do not seem to be the same situation you have.

And yes, they don't normally give money back at all - although it has happened to me once when upgrading a ticket to an AP. But that is pixie dust, not policy.

I have the opportunity to use some of my extra timeshare points to get some disney tickets but they only offer park hoppers and the smallest I can get is a 4 day. I guess I can get the 4 day and just pay the difference I think it works out to be $20 to convert it to an 8 day (which is what I really need). I'll still come out way ahead since its just extra points after I book room anyway. I don't really need to hoppers but if I'm not really paying for the ticket I guess its not a big deal to have them.

Yes, you can upgrade any unused ticket as long as it is going from a lower priced ticket to a higher priced ticket. If the child tickets value is higher then the adult ticket you are wanting to purchase, then you will not be allowed to do the upgrade.
