A little background-it's taken me YEARS to convince DH to go to WDW. He hasn't been very involved in the planning (it kills him to see the $$ we're spending). The only thing he has shown any interest in is the luau.
We are going with our 3 kids (9,7,4) and Grandma. We have never been to Hawaii and probably never will (if he can't handle spending $ on WDW, Hawaii will never happen!) But Grandma has been to Hawaii and luaus.
I've seen lots of mixed reviews. Is this worth the money? I'm leaning towards the opinion that even if its terrible, its worth it b/c its DH's only request so far.
Thoughts???

I completely agree that it would be worth the money simply b/c DH requested it.
You're going to read a bunch of different opinions about it, most-likely. Everyone has different experiences. Unless it's an overwhelming majority of negative reviews, I'd not put too much weight into them if it's something your husband wants to do.
BTW, I seriously think my family could have gone to Hawaii a couple of times with the money we've spent on Disney vacations! not kidding :RpS_huh:

It's fun - really. Not the greatest food, and the show is a bit corny, but overall it's still fun. And given all you posted - that it's the only thing he seems interested in - I would definitely be booking it.

Agree with Vicki--most of the show is corny (but lots of stuff at Disney is anyway), however the end is very exciting!! We left with an overall positive experience.

We're going on the 26th for DD8's birthday dinner. It's a surprise, and since she's been talking for years about wanting to drink out of a coconut, it's as close as we'll be coming for a while to being in Hawaii!

Thanks for confirming what I already knew
We will be attending the luau! BTW, DH is now starting to get interested in the new star wars ride- he may end up excited for this trip afterall!
There should be at least a few things at each Park that are of interest, no matter where his interests lie. Roller coasters, history, food, Christmas?

Oh I think that once he gets over the shell shock on the cost, he will have a blast. This is a man whose idea of a vacation is going up to the cabin. So, I'm still struggling with getting him involved in the planning. I'm hoping once the kids are informed (no time soon) that he'll get more into it. He also thinks I'm crazy for planning so early! But I'm having fun!:RpS_biggrin:
