Next installment:
Please list your home resort. Then, if you could own anywhere else, where would you own and why? If you do own somewhere else, list why.
Ill start.
We own at Bay Lake Tower. Our kids are quite young and we love the convenience of walking to the MK and taking the monorail to Epcot. If we could own anywhere else at this point, I would have to choose Beach Club Villas. I just like the feel of the Boardwalk/BC area and certainly being close to World Showcase and Stormalong Bay would be awesome! We may eventually add points there.

We are currently members at SSR and LOVE it. I know it isn't a favorite of everyone but I just love the whole feel of the resort.....and the addition of the THV just makes it that much better.
I think that if we were to own anywhere else, it would be BCV. Like you Greg.....I like the convince of the Epcot area resorts. We enjoyed our stay there Jan 2010 and I can see me enjoying staying there again. Of course, this could all change after our AKV visit and that might be the place we'd like to own at. Of course......that said.....I think that we will just stick with SSR for future add ons.

My first home is SSR. We've got 200 points there. My second home is VGC. We've got 160 points there. I need more points at VGC. NEED them.
If I was going to pick a different resort for a new contract it would probably be Beach Club, for the same reasons Gregg lists. Still, a new contract isn't in our near future and if it ever does become an option, there will probably be newer resorts to choose from.

I wasn't thinking outside of WDW......we NEED a contract with lots of points there too!!!!!

We've got 250 at SSR (200 original, 50 add-on). Happy with that, although if DH could trade SSR for OKW, he'd do it in a heartbeat.
Should we ever be able to afford more points, we'll likely buy enough BWV for a Food & Wine trip every other year. Love that we can get Epcot location at Standard View rates! :RpS_thumbsup:
But first I've got to find that winning lottery ticket. . . :RpS_rolleyes:

We own at AKV. We picked AKV over BLT (the two being sold at the time) because of the theme and believe it or not location. Our kids love animals and DH loves the seclusion. AKV is the type of resort where you can hang out there for a couple days without being bored or even visiting a park.
If I could own anywhere else it would be BCV. We stayed there on cash once and really enjoyed it! The pool and location are awesome! I would love to stay here for the holidays!

We own at SSR and plan to add on some day, but I would like to also own at Blt. We stayed there in 2010 and loved being so close to MK.

We own at BLT because of the length of contract and of course the monorail doesn't hurt :RpS_wink: We adore the EPCOT resorts and would like to own there someday. Since we are new to DVC, just last June we need to figure out what we need before we purchase anymore. And although I guess we are supposed to be talking only about WDW resorts, I secretly long to own at VGC. We stayed there last July and I am still gushing over it. An amazing DVC resort that cannot be beat!! :RpS_thumbsup:

We have 335 at SSR (210 original, 125 added on). I would like to purchase a contract at VGC as well - big enough so that we could go every two years or so - but that's not in the cards right now. I'm hoping that in five years or so it will be. I don't think we'll add on anymore at WDW, unless we relocate closer to Florida and going more often in a year is an option. We currently live too far away (in my opinion) to drive, and flying is so expensive, so we only tend to go once a year or so - but we go for longer trips and we bring family with us, so the larger contract is definitely useful for us.

Nice to see some familiar faces on here from "over there"! Well, we just bought into DVC about a month ago. Got a 250 point resale contract at OKW. We stayed at VWL this past Thanksgiving paying cash (before I REALLY knew what I was doing). Our first DVC stay is this November with a BCV/BLT split stay. I think if I were gonna choose to purchase more points, I would strongly consider BLT simply based on location (walking to MK and being on the monorail line).

:welcome: bigdaddybyrd!
Congratulations on your OKW purchase. Did you get one with an extended contract? I think OKW is a lovely resort. We often visit the pool (without checking in at the front desk, even.)

We own at OKW and really enjoyed our first stay there. We looked into all the available options and we decided that buying OKW resale was the best overall fit for our family. We quickly realized that we prefer to splurge on space (a 2BR for the five of us) rather than view or theme park location, so the resorts with less "pointy" 2BRs appeal to us. That is partly why AKV and BWV are at the top of my list if we add on - standard view rooms mean 2BRs for a more reasonable amount of points. We drive so I don't think the location of AKV would bother us. Actually, the more secluded and remote feeling is appealing to me. We recently stayed at BC and really loved the location near EP, but since BWV is less expensive on the resale market and they have SV rooms we would probably pick BWV over BCV. The parking situation at BWV worries me, though, and we aren't all that crazy about seeing so much of the Swan and Dolphin hotels.

We own at AKV. We've never stayed in any other DVC room before, but based upon location and access to Stormalong Bay we'd probably choose BCV (if we couldn't just choose more AKV!).

Stacey, did you get an extended OKW contract? I wonder how people decide between the regular expiration and the extended expiration when they buy resale.

You might also consider SSR because of the Treehouse Villas - they cost the same "points" as a 2BR, even though they're a 3BR/2bath.

We first bought at BWV because of the location & we love the resort. We added on at AKV and also love that resort, for different reasons. We are currently shopping for another add-on and while my first choice would be BCV, I don't think I can justify the difference in price so our next points will likely be BWV again.

We did not get the extended contract - the selection of extended OKW contracts on the resale market is not that great. We don't really care about the extra years, to be honest, since we wiill be in our early 70s in 2042. Maybe down the road we'll realize we want more years for us or for our children, but I figure we can always buy another contract at that point.

Good point. Visiting SSR to get a feel for the resort is on my list of things to do, so maybe we'll get to that in November. I am not completely sure we will add on, but if we do it is going to be tough to choose a second resort!

We own at AKV. Bought last December. It was between BLT and AKV. BLT was too "sterile" for us. We both LOVE animals and AK is our favorite park behind MK. Our first trip will be in December and we are really looking forward to it. We are going back in Feb 2012 and maybe to Hilton Head in November 2012.
I would have to go resort hopping to see where else we would want to own. Not really sure of any of them. DH would probably like WL for the theming.
