What are your favorite restaurants (table service or counter service)? Why?

Counter service:

Columbia Harbor House - this isn't so much for the food as it is for the upstair seating and the great view of HM!
Pecos Bills - fixin's bar...nuff said
Cosmic Ray's - good chicken, good sized portions, Sunny is funny!
Flame Tree BBQ - good ribs and love the seating/view by the water

Table Service:

Le Cellier - pretzel bread, cheddar cheese soup and the filet are to die for!
Coral Reef - love the mahi mahi and it's cool to watch all the fish swim by as you're eating
Sci-Fi - pure kitsch! (sp?) Love it! Eating in one of the cars is pretty cool too!
Hollywood Brown Derby - best meal we had according to DH, classy atmosphere and like the Hollywood memorabila, could imagine all the stars of yore smoozing and being seen
Yak & Yeti - potstickers are delicious! cool themeing, recommend the Yak Attack!

Counter service:
Sunshine Seasons----suits a wide variety of food preferences
Cosmic Ray's----chicken and rib meal is great for sharing, plus you get bonus points for consuming a non-lettuce vegetable!
Pecos Bill---half the family likes this better than Cosmic Ray's, so we eat at both each trip

Table service
Crystal Palace----for the latest possible breakfast seating moving into the lunch foods (bonus with teens), great with food allergies
Liberty Tree Tavern---for lunch specifically. It's a calm, cool oasis during the hot crowded months.
50s Prime Time Cafe---home of the only non-homemade fried chicken soy-allergic dd16 can eat each year! We love love love the chefs there! And that Long Island Iced Tea is sooooooo good....
Boma---wide variety for foodies and non-foodies alike, a safe place for kids to stretch their culinary wings
Sanaa---comfortable, relaxing, great food
Biergarten---an extended family favorite, wonderful memories of the kids and their cousins dancing to the music, while we enjoy beverages with our parents
Les Chefs de France---the waiters, duh

Table Service:
Hoop-De-Doo Revue, our favorite evening, the kids faces are priceless during the show. They laugh so hard and my husband enjoys the end the most. (do not want to share for those that have not been) But, Hoop-De-Doo is a must DO!
50's Prime Time: Love the family atmosphere, you never know how you are going to be related to the server, aunt, uncle, cousin...
O'Hana- the food is fabulous
Coral Reef: Mahi-Mahi is excellent, so is the Lave cake for dessert. The kids love the tank of fish and the huge sea turtle plus we were luck enough to see a couple scuba divers in the tank while we were eating.

Counter Service- Wolfgang Puck Express- The food is awesome and it's such a deal on the dining plan.

Table Service- 'Ohana- We love the food and we've always had great service.

Teppan Edo always brings back good memories of my first trip, though you can certainly get similar food back home at half the price. Cosmic Ray's and Yak & Yeti are my favorite quick services. These are constantly changing though. I've probably said I love just about every restaurant at one time or another. Other than maybe ABC Commissary.

Dinner Shows
Hoop De Doo Revue--We loved it! Down home food--fried chicken, ribs, baked beans, mashed potatoes, salad, cornbread (sweet, not like I make at home), and strawberry shortcake. Great fun for the whole family.

Spirit of Aloha--We loved it, too, but not as much as HDDR. Food was good--smoked chicken, ribs, rice, salad, bread (my bread-loving middle daughter said that it was the best bread ever), fresh pineapple, chocolate mousse. We all anjoyed the show.

Counter Service
MK--Columbia Harbour House--We love eating upstairs, and we all love the fried shrimp platter. I've also had the Lighthouse sandwich (brocolli slaw & hummus), and it was very good. The apple crisp for dessert was really yummy.

DHS--Starring Rolls--Great ham sandwich and cupcake. In 2009, my 7-year-old and I shared this meal, and it was really good and filling for both of us. It's the only CS place I highly recommend at HS. We tried ABC Commissary once, and the only good thing we had there was the air conditioning.

More tomorrow--have to get to bed for work in the morning!

Let's see - I suppose I should answer my own question . . .

Favorite Table Service:
Jiko - my hands down favorite signature - the food and service is always fantastic (and it's still possible to get the filet with the mac n' cheese and wine sauce, even though it's not on the menu that way anymore)
Brown Derby - while the service wasn't as good last time we ate there, the food is great
Via Napoli - one of my new favorites - the pizza and the chicken parm were delicious
La Hacienda - another new favorite - the blueberry basil mango margarita was amazing, and the food was equally delicious
Boma Brunch - we've never had any other meal here, but their brunch is fantastic - carved corned beef brisket, that amazing juice, and grilled tomatoes to die for

Favorite Counter Service:
This is really hard for me, because our last few trips have been on the deluxe dining plan, and we haven't done any counter service, however, with that in mind, we've always liked the following:
Columbia Harbor House
Sunshine Seasons
La Cantina de San Angel

CS:
Columbia Harbor House @ MK
Yorkshire Fish n Chips @ Epcot
Kringla Bakery in Norway
Boulangerie Patisserie in France
Earl of Sandwich
Wolfgang Puck Express

TS:
Kona Cafe for breakfast
'Ohana for breakfast
Boma for breakfast
50s Prime Time
Flying Fish
The Plaza in MK for lunch
Yak & Yeti
Le Cellier (but not worth the hassle for getting a reservation and won't be worth it to me if they jack up the cash prices when it becomes 2 TS credits)
Tutto Italia

Because I keep kosher at home and I hate the airline meals I do vegetarian dining on my solo trips. So for great veggie dining, I like:

CS:
Columbia Harbor House
Sunshine Seasons

TS:
Originally, I like Jiko because they had a fanatastic veggie meal but what I had is no longer on the menu & I haven't been back to try the new veggie item
Kouzzina
Boma breakfast
Cape May breakfast
1900 PF breakfast
Garden View Tea - best strawberry & cream EVER
Yachtsman for their truffle mac & cheese

I have an upcoming ADR at California Grill in May so we'll see what I think of that. They have their veggie items marked on the menu and seem to have lots of choices.

I've always wanted to eat at Jiko. Crossing fingers for next WDW trip. Good to know what to order that's not actually ON the menu- I'll feel like such an insider.

Where s Via Napoli? Is it new? I haven't been in 3 1/2 years so I'm a bit behind.

Via Napoli is in the back of the Italy pavilion at Epcot. If you were to stand with your back to the lagoon, the shops and Tutto Italia (the restaurant that replaced Alfredo's) would be on your left. Via Napoli would be straight ahead.

Here are some pictures http://land.allears.net/blogs/guestblog/2010/08/new_via_napoli_soft_opens_earl.html (from the soft opening) and http://land.allears.net/blogs/jackspence/2010/08/via_napoli_1.html (from the grand opening).

CS
MK- CHH- I would never think of ordering a tuna sandwich at a restaurant but the tuna sandwich here is wonderful. Sit upstairs for the quiet and view.
AK- Picnic fixings purchased at ...whatever that shop is called. OH! Beastly Bazaar. You get a nice cloth tote bag to pack it all in. At least we did last trip ;)
DHS-Starring Rolls
Epcot- Tangerine Cafe and UK fish and chips
DTD- WPE

TS-
MK- Plaza or LTT for lunch
AK- Yak and Yeti for potstickers and those cream cheese won tons.
DHS- Have to leave this blank- they are all just so so to me
Epcot- Chefs de France for lunch
DTD- Raglan Road

Jiko's definitely worth it for me. I love a number of their appetizers (I'm not so much into dessert), and all of the entrees we've tried have been very good.

Via Napoli is new, and as Luckymama explained, it's in the back of the Italy pavilion. They do a number of Neapolitan style pizzas cooked in specially built ovens, and then they have pastas and that sort of thing as well.

It's owned by the same group who run the Italian place in Downtown Disney at Disneyland, so I'm presuming the pizzas are similar (if you've eaten there - I noticed you've been to DL more recently than WDW).

We _loved_ Naples in DTD Anaheim. Via Napoli is top of our list to try for that reason alone.

Table service: Ohana and Boma

Mine too!!!

Boma and 'Ohana are my two favorite restaurants. Boma for food and 'Ohana for both food and atmosphere. And I love CrystaL Palace, just because it is classic Disney to me, and it was magical to me on my first trip in 1974.
However, I reserve my right to add to this list after my May trip, when we're eating at CM, 1900 PF, Akerhaus, Mama Melrose (although I'm not expecting this to become a favorite) and WCC.

Sci-Fi, loved the theme
Biergarten, loved the beer
LTT, loved the Thanksgiving meal but now they don't have the characters:RpS_crying

Table Service Favorites
By Brandie

I like 1900 PF for dinner. We've done this twice and had better seats the second time around. You'd think that my daughter in her Cinderella outfit would have enjoyed this the most, but my two sons, 10 and 12 at the time, got all kinds of attention! Especially the 12 yo. The step-sisters were all over him and the prince gave him lessons on how to treat his princess. The food must have been okay. :RpS_confused:

I like Sci-Fi at DHS. We usually try to cram most of DHS into a shorter day without a trip back so we have a break in the park. Sci-Fi is the perfect spot for this. My family sticks with basic food. I've heard that's the safest bet here. I also hear that seating can be a problem, but we've always gotten a car to lounge in. The kids are mesmerized by the big screen and the campy movie clips that play. I enjoy the A/C and the chance to rest.

For breakfast I like Tusker House (pre-park opening). This one is a tradition. It might be for that reason alone that it's a favorite.

Still looking for a favorite at Epcot. We've tried a lot of them, but not all! That's my goal. It'll take a few more trips to fit them all in!

At MK, nothing stands out as a favorite, but I've liked the ones I've tried. (LTT, Plaza, CP)

Overall, I'd have to say 'Ohana. Loved the food. Loved the party atmosphere. Loved dessert!

I wish I could say that Boma was a family favorite. I really liked the food but the lines for the buffet were horrible the one time we went and NONE of the rest of my family liked it. :RpS_mad:

We're trying WCC, R&C and Sanaa this time around. Maybe I'll have new favorites!

Our family loves Hoop De Doo as far as dinner shows go. We attended a Spirit of Aloha, but due to rain the show was cancelled. Food was good and they refunded us one dining credit each.

For CS our fav hands down is WPE!! EOS is a close second.

Now our fav TS is a tough one.
Character meals would have to be either Crystal Palace of 1900 PF for breakfast only.
None character meals would have to be Kona or Ohana.

We have last year that we wanted to try every restaurant in WDW for every meal offered. So we now have a color coded list of all the TS and CS restaurants at WDW that when we try we mark off. We can't repeat anything until they ahve all been tried. So far only a few got the will not return to. We still have a lot to try though.
