Are there any predictions about whether or not there will be free dining in December (like there was in 2010) ?

Not sure, but I do remember that when I was booked for December 2009 the free dining came out at the end of July. Hope this helps.

According to the Magic 8 Ball there will "absolutely" be free dining in Dec 2011. Thanks, Brian.

:clap2: Love the Magic 8 Ball!!!!

In all seriousness.......I'm not all that sure that we will see the Free Dining this year. Disney stated last Fall that they would be cutting down on the discounts this year and so far, they seem to be living up to that. Dec 2009 is the first year that I know of that they ever had Free Dining outside of Aug/Sept and 2010 followed suit. With the lowering of discounts, I think that we will start to see a decrease in the times with free dining. Of course.......this is just my prediction and I might end up being totally wrong (which would be a good thing!!!)

I might not have all these facts straight-- but in general, Free dining used to be free dining no matter how long you stayed or where you stayed. THen it became free dining for those at Mod or higher, and free CS dining for those at Value, now it free dining according not only to where you are staying but you need to stay for at least 5 days, and you have to buy a photo package or something.

So-- even though I may not have all the facts spot on with that, I think the trend is fairly clear....:RpS_unsure:

Yes, I agree.... Over the years, we generally camp at Fort Wilderness every other trip and stay at a mod. or deluxe on the other vacations. However, we've missed several free dining opportunities because it's rarely offered to those of us inferior guests that are in the campground :RpS_glare:
Yes, I know it's less expensive to camp than stay at the BWI, but believe me, we give Mickey plenty of $$$ no matter where we sleep.

ETA: I forgot to say....!! I'm not happy about the photo cd requirement. That is just.... silly! What does a photo CD have to do with putting food in my kids' mouths? huh ? It's juts another way to deplete their college fund.

Not in December as of yet, but there's a perk with Disney Visa right now (cardholders can look it up on the website, and I got it in email but don't have it any more)....free dining when you book 5 nights and 6 days (the pkg mentioned here already where it's the CS dining plan for value resorts and the full DP for moderates and deluxe resorts, I think) along with park tickets (one park per day, I think) but the travel had to be done by the end of September. It's either September or August, IIRC. I'm never going in the summer months so I disregarded the email about it and then read it again later on Disney Visa's site (Chase). I wish there was something like that for mid October - I'd go in October during my kiddo's fall break.
